Expired flavorings

How relevant is “best before” for flavorings? I would appreciate any tips on the subject.

I think you will have a couple of different answers but for me and my experience, I have not had any issues with the expire date. I have some that are 3 yrs old and a couple that are 5 yrs old that I don’t use very often but still want in my stash. I keep mine at room temp. with no natural light reaching the bottles.

I don’t have any real issues either. I will say some of them, especially vanilla’s, get really dark if I keep them for ages…

Thanks a lot. It was what my intuition has told me, but I wanted to have a second opinion.

I’ve had quite a few “oldies” and haven’t really had any trouble with the exception of two flavors: LorAnn Bavarian Cream and any graham cracker flavors including chessecake graham. They have a weird bitter taste to them almost sour, as they get older.

Me too, I use with caution.
