In my experience level is the hippie entry way into reading the necronomicon , that’s all. Just the people I knew who did the latter usually started with the gentle Satanic Bible. Just personal experience

Well the Necronomicon as a separate text, like the Simon Necronomicon was a creation to fit a pop cultural need. It is continuation of the fine old tradition of ‘finding’ lost books and pseudepigrapha.
