We live in the midst of a flood of soulless information. And, the more we rely on one-way communication, like radio or TV, or static and unmoving words in print, the more I feel the need to stress the value of the sound of the human voice: The simple but precious interaction of voice and voice, person and person, the exchange of life with life.
I would agree, but much less so for most people under 35. This younger generation has lost the ability to speak. Their voice pains my ears and grates on my nerves. They can no longer string together a simple spoken sentence with subject, verb, object.
It’s like, you know, well… what I’m really saying is they are like, sad, and I’m like, you know, not getting it, so I go like, dude get a grip and maybe chill out, you know.
They should be issued a limited number of “likes” and “you knows” and commas at birth. If they exceed this number they should be returned to the womb to start over. Meanwhile, I just find a Christopher Hitchens video on Youtube, and enjoy the spoken word at its best.
Why ask me if your right? If you don’t know shut your trap.
Was at a pharmacy, recently. I asked the gal behind the counter if they could carry a certain brand of beef jerky. She said, “I don’t think so…” I heard a comma in there. “I don’t think, so…” I offered her the rest of the sentence. “You don’t think, so you’re not going to find out.”
I’m not sure if I made this up, but I always told my boys, “A closed mouth says nothing stupid.”
I had neighbors that would play loud music from morning to evening on summer weekends. The variety was so expansive that I couldn’t believe the same person was DJing. Maybe they had different crowds coming in and out all day. They went from 70s pop/R&B to current hostile rap music with a bent on heavy metal. Didn’t even know that existed, lol.
I heard something like that playing in a store at the mall. I was also surprised. Its like the people who listened to the new age rap music liked the rebelliousness and counterculture aspect of metal and put them together. I don’t listen to it, but I think it’s kinda interesting. I give them credit for having the talent to actually mix those things together and have it sound “good.” Good as being very subjective, it’s not awful though.
I hear you but this wasn’t mall material. The lead singer wasn’t singing (or rapping), he was screaming all through the song as if he wanted to pull someone’s head off. Like Pauly said, raised blood pressure.
I listen to all kinds of music but this wasn’t anything I’ve ever heard. I don’t know where it came from or who created it and I hope I never hear it again, lol.
Prayers are invisible, but if we pray steadfastly they will definitely effect clear results in our lives and surroundings over time. This is the principle of the true entity of all phenomena.
Faith means having confidence in this invisible realm.
