Dude, I simplified the shit out of that. I was hoping someone of the Jewish faith and or that knows about it would have corrected me on that point.

There is a Buddhist doctrine called The Three Proofs: Theoretical proof, Documentary proof and Actual proof. The texts would be documentary proof. According to this doctrine, all three are necessary to proving a philosophy, religion, teaching, etc. to be true but the most important is actual proof.

I heard that during Katrina he wouldn’t let people into his chapel (or whatever it’s called) for shelter because the carpets would get dirty.

Same as whining, isn’t it? Or similar.

Yes, though whining is more general and whinging is targeted, or felt that way, in British and Australian English.

My favourite usage.

I’m not FROM Ireland, personally, but I am of Irish descent. And this couldn’t be more true! :joy::sweat_smile:

A great show. The first season blew me away. I couldn’t stop watching. For me, it has the same gripping qualities of shows like “The Expanse”. Gotta say that “Foundation” is the same for me. I read the books many years ago and thoroughly enjoyed season one.

From my perspective there is no ‘real’ cast-iron, irrefutable proof of any kind, which unequivocally provides ‘evidence’ of the existence of a supernatural power…For me at least, in the absence of ‘proof’, everything revolves around ‘faith’

Haha you would be correct. Both my paternal grandparents came from Fermoy (county cork). It’s such a great quote!

Once there’s evidence I suppose it’s not considered supernatural anymore. In any case, not all religions/philosophies, etc. are trying to prove something supernatural. Personally, I think faith is essential. Some people claim they don’t believe in/understand faith or that it’s blind. I point out to them that everyday they apply faith. They wouldn’t step onto a bus if they didn’t have faith that the driver wouldn’t crash it. Just a simple example like that opens the mind to other possibilities.
