February 2026 Mix‑Along — The Strawberry (or Cherry!) Base Assignment

Well said @OdieDoodah.

So, back to real life after a lovely week at the Olympics in Milan with my wife.

First and foremost, I hope everyone is doing well!

For the February mix along I chose to create a red cherry stone. It’s flavor is exactly what I wanted, but it definitely needs additional fruits or creams and sweetener. Anyway, this was a stone assignment, and a stone (base) is what you get.

If I have time before the end of the month, I’ll post my best strawberry stone. I threw a few together yesterday afternoon, and will test them and post one if it’s good enough.

I’m going to try you “cherry base” looks really good. Going to try it with a cheesecake.
I’ve got one similar but it uses (inw) “cherries” instead of “maraschino” all percentages are the same though.

I changed my vote from bubblegum to blueberry if you don’t mind. I’ve been getting into blueberry related flavors lately after giving up on them in the past and have been working hard on a “Wild Huckleberry” flavor. Huckleberry/Bilberry/Blueberry are all very closely related and interchangeable.

Looks like you may be the Blueberry / Watermelon tie breaker… :+1:

Yes, I haven’t tried it yet but it smells phenomenal. I’ve also got Huckleberry (TFA) and Huckleberry (FW).
I haven’t tried anything from MF before but I’ve been considering them recently.

MF Blueberry and Huckleberry just poised to drop the mic…

Update on the Mix-Along Prize winner selection, we will be doing a single grand prize winner chosen at random. This way we feel everyone will have an equal chance at a prize and encourage newer mixers to particapate.
As you know from last month, testing just 2 random finalist could lead to a tie breaker - and testing all recipe submissions isn’t really feasible as it’s time consuming acquiring missing flavors / mixing / steeping / retesting when there’s not a consensus amoung the judges / etc.

i personally find finished recipes more interesting as there is more variety
in a finished product. here is a base i use frequently though

Looks good. I’ve been meaning to buy Cherry (Wisnia) despite the occasional bad reviews. If used properly, most cherry flavors are delicious and unique.

Do I get Bonus Points for being fashionably late? (smirk)

The write-up for this one is too damn long - but I think it’s worth the time to read. Enjoy!

Looks like Blueberry narrowly squeaked out for the win.

Only figure skating. We saw women’s free skate, men’s free skate, and pairs.

Was a blast. But figure skating is my wife’s thing. I was there for the pasta, pizza, and wine. And of course as emotional support for when both her favorite men’s and women’s skaters bombed.

On another note, the best thing I ate was linguine with paper-thin zucchini slices, grana padano, and provolone. I’m a lover of simple dishes, but this one takes the cake. Bellissimo!

I love INW - Cherries. It’s one of the best. But so many people already posted the SSA/INW combo that I thought it’d be nice to try something new.
