I store them in a cupboard but it gets very hot in that cupboard during summer as there is a window that is next to the cupboard. I remember during the summer months I would open the door and the smell of concentrates was very strong. So this is possibly also a reason for some of concentrates going bad maybe.
Do you do single flavor testing without nic?
Usually, but there’s no reason why not throw in the nic, if you want to, and you don’t mind wasting it. I often do that, because I can sometimes vape on an SFT all day before making up my mind about the flavour, …and then I get nic withdrawal But that’s just me. The standard way of doing it is to leave out the nic.
If you do a search, you’ll find loads of helpful threads about single flavour testing on here
EDIT: P.S. some flavours are dark to start with, but if you can recall what the colour looked like when you bought it (most are more-or-less clear, in my experience ) then any significant darkening of that bottle of flavour is a sign that it’s gone off.
Most if not all are bulk mixed then subdivided into smaller bottles. I have bought flavors from straight from the MFG in 10/15 ml bottles and I would expect the flavor wasn’t made that day and shipped that afternoon.
They wrote an article over at TFA about the composition of flavors. The gist of it is that the flavors are a conglomerate of super fine particles that are heat sensitive. Without a doubt oxygen and heat are damaging to them. I freeze my Nicotine (100mg) and keep all my finished mixes and flavors cool and dark. Some flavors like lemons tend to lose their potency after a few weeks so they go to the refrigerator or get used quickly.
As a final suggestion there are two parts to smoking addiction.
Nicotine and psychological habit. For me the habit transitioned to vaping big thick clouds out of the better performing RDA that also serves to test flavors. When I first really battled the Nic addiction from 3 packs a day i made a bottle of cinnamon and a bottle of caramel cappuccino ejuice at 25mg for those moments I needed a fix. All other recipes are at 10 - 12 mg for my mental habit.
Call it a rescue vape if you will but it worked for me.
Don’t forget to shake all liquids of any sort before using. TFA suggests this to redistribute the fine particles of flavor and bases.
Keep going on no matter what and eventually you’ll overcome any issue.
So sorry its taken me so long to reply Craig. Thank you for your helpful and interesting comments.
I managed to find a liquid that I liked as a third ADV and it was wonderful for a while but I think I might be allergic to one component in it (Rich Cinnamon Flavorah). Ever since vaping it I have been getting canker sores on my tongue. Just to be sure if it is that one particular flavour I have stopped using it for a couple of days to see if it helps.
I will keep trying new recipes as you suggested and I’m sure I’ll find one that I like
