So my name’s Chris, and I decided to join and post here because of the amount of technicality I’m assuming is involved in creating juices. I read through a thread about LNW before ordering and you guys had some great reviews so I put in for a DIY kit, some pods and a new Lost Vape Orion PLUS. The kit has 500ml of both PG&VG, 120ml of 48mg VG salt and a slew of pipettes, leur lock syringes and bottles.
I do have a background in chemistry so I understand titration and how to measure things (mostly) and they have a calculator on their website (which I haven’t played around with yet).
So this is my first time trying to make any mix and first time with salts, I saw a lot of acronyms being used, some people saying they used argon as a buffer to store juice and a lot of good info so maybe I can get some of that knowledge. First off, is there anything I should absolutely KNOW? I’m not super well off monetarily so I’d like to avoid mistakes as much as possible.
Second, I read that it should be an even mix of PG/VG for salts, I’m getting PG and VG but the nicotine salt says it’s VG, so does that mean I don’t need VG in the mix? Is there a preferred storage method for what I’m waiting to use? How do I figure out what the strength of the mix will be, I normally vape 20-25mg/mL salts. (I’m assuming the calculator will tell me this but I’d like to know how to do it without).
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. Much love.
Lots of questions there, and I’ll take a stab at a few.
IMO, one thing you must remember is to start small with mixing. Make your mixes 5-15 ml at a time. 5ml is more than enough to know if a mix is good or not. This’ll save you money. If you make a mix you think is good then make a slightly larger batch, 30-60 ml. Trust me, it may not be so good the second time. Once you’ve made a mix 3-4 times and it’s consistent then you can start making 180+ batches.
You can mix at any ratio you want. Just keep accurate records and you’ll find the ratio you like best.
Your tastes will change, sometimes quickly.
Keep detailed records of every thing you do. Nothing sucks more than making something very tasty and not being able to reproduce it.
Hello @Ciocalesku welcome to the forum.
You are not doing something right.
I see you put 60% strawberry and 40% pineapple. That is not right. Concentrates are used from about 0.1% to 6% depending on brand and flavor. The total flavor in a mix can range from approximately 1-2% to 20-25%, depending on several factors: flavors used, equipment used for vaping, type of vaping (MTL or DL) and personal tastes. Does not exist a combination of VG and PG standard, it depends on the taste of each. VG gives more sweetness and more cloud, and is thicker. PG gives less cloud and scratches a little in the throat, similar to tobacco. It is more liquid than VG.
Play around with the recipe side calculator, browse recipes, do some research … and don’t be in a rush.
Ask what you don’t understand, there are good people here always ready to help.
Awesome! That makes sense. I was thinking that was strictly for the flavor profile, didn’t realize that post was included in the whole calculation. Thank you very much.
I definitely plan on asking questions. It seemed like a lot of people had good information about making juice. It’s going to be a fun ride learning about all this. I’m super excited to learn the ropes here!
