Iām here 2 years later, a beginning diy er because the only reference to CAP Pina Colada on ELR was in the forumā¦ your recipe! But it goes further than one flavor. Nearly every flavor concentrate you used was in the group of flavors I had outā¦ wanting to try for the first time! The comments carried it further by bringing an Orange flavor into the subject too! That was the Next flavor group I was going to add to!
I wanted you, and the people that kindly reached out to you, to know how far reaching the effort and kindness is ending up reaching. I also learned about Forest Fruit (FA?) and mixed it up in your recipe! Thank you for posting this a few years back. Facing Flavor Bans in 2019 and finding these posts are golden!
Kind of you to drop in and say soā¦
juice_junkie_lover is a āquiet legendā around here! chuckles
(While this post didnāt involve me directly, I couldnāt help but agree with you!)
JJ happens to be one of my best friends. I am so proud of JJ
thatās nice!
Itās neat how patient this community is with us beginners! I really liked all the enthusiasm that surrounded that post and appreciated it. Gave me ideasā¦ but I havenāt quite reached success for my taste buds in the wild and crazy fruit blends arenaā¦ I just wanted a pina coladaā¦ but saw so many other ideas being thrown around and I was as excited about them years later as JJ (? I get that right?) was at the time of the original post!
and you fell into the rabbit hole! lolā¦ I knowā¦ itās fun watching newbiesā¦
It keeps me in check tooā¦
howeverā¦ you can not teach an old dog new tricksā¦ most the time sometimes they do surprise you thoā¦ and turn into flavor monsters that live under your bedā¦ waiting for you to drop that bottle of juice you just know is going to be the next best taste!! Stick aroundā¦ have some fun!
Hey guys. I posted something similar on Reddit. Seeking serious help here.
Iām sure you have read a similar story ad nauseum.
My favorite juice of 5-6 years was discontinued, and no one can/will tell me what was in it.
It was called BMF Labs/MRKT PLCE Tropical Forest Fruit (Ja-Mon-G)
It was similar in profile to Betty, but not sweet really at all. It was delicious. It has a specific note that I canāt put my finger on that distinguishes it from Betty though. Not sure if itās a fruit at all!
Anyway - has anyone tried this juice? If so - what did you taste in it? I am going to have my shop mix up the Betty clone here, and try to mix stuff from there.
I just donāt know what to do. BMF Labs (Greensboro, NC) sold to Mr. Vapes USA, and cannot/wonāt tell me the recipe due to contractual reasons I suppose.
Any help is appreciated!! thanks guys
@SessionDrummer Would you happen to have any advice for me? Iām quite lost here. I tried just Forest Fruit Mix and sweetener and it didnāt taste right at all. Then we lowered the sweetener and I just came to the conclusion that I hate the taste of sucralose.
That is what I loved about BMFās juice - it wasnāt very sweet at all. I tried MRKT PLCE Forbidden Berry (which is what happened to the dissolved BMF) and it also was too sweet, and had a lingering flavor of lime I think - which I didnāt care for.
Should I just keep trying different fruit mixtures until I get close? I think there was orange/blood orange notes in it. Maybe some pineapple.
The old marketing for the bottle showed pineapple, banana, grapes, and kiwi. So I donāt think thatās it. I donāt taste banana at all.
tag line was: Sweet fruits of the rainforest! Like taking a bite of a juicy fruit salad.
Thanks yaāll for all of your help and giving me the time of day.
Welcome to ELR.
Iām not sure at what percentage you were testing FA FF and/or how much sweetener you were using, or even which brand of sweetener. If you have discovered a dislike for Suc, then you can toss out your bottle of CAPās Super Sweet for starters.
Iāve never heard of or tried that one, so it would be hard to give you a lot of help in that regard.
As far as the OG Betty, I never tried that either, but Iāve seen some insane recipes for it ā¦
Commercial juices (most) do use sky high sweetener levels, but the 15% TPA Sweetener in that recipe is insane IMO. You said the juice wasnāt overly sweet, so maybe they didnāt suc dump like many commercial coās do. Do you remember what profiles the company claimed for that juice ?
I donāt know these liquids but having read your description the sweetness could come directly from the flavors of the fruits used without adding any sweetener.
Banana may be related, even if you donāt notice it distinctly as a single flavour, and if kept very low it can provide other fruits with a support of fullness and roundness being a ābuttery fruitā.
Just brainstorming, hope it helps you in some way.
I think we are much closer. It was actually similar to the Betty clone/remix with the marshmallow in it as an ingredient. I think they may have used ethyl maltol because I can definitely taste a ācotton candyā note on the exhale. thank you all for your replies.
Yeah - it is not sucralose, although Betty actually has it in it I think.
I recently tried āenigmaā by Stark Vapors (Pinup) and it was sickeningly sweet after being billed as āless sweetā than Betty. Itās not true, but maybe Iām just sensitive to Cap SS.
My local shop didnāt have Pina Colada, so we added coconut, and it was gross.
Back to the drawing board. I think the closest we came to Betty was the one stated above with the Marshmallow added, etc.
But the one Iām cloning is actually a clone of Betty. Or a remix of Betty, if you will.
I have been getting this very bitter aftertaste from my shops mixes, and I donāt know why. I tried new coils, same thing. I wonder if one of their flavorings has expired?
The profile advertised for JaMonG was: Fresh Tropical Fruits, Forest Fruit.
Flavor profiles were: Forest Fruit Mix, Pineapple (kind of what you would expect from a pina colada mixed with forest fruit but pineapple forward, very very faint coconut on exhale. With cotton candy sweetness but no āsugar lipsā or actual sweetness on your tongue. WS-23 was in it for sure.)
Well thatās not good. You said āmixesā so across more than one mix ?
What VG/PG are they using?
Flavors rarely expire if stored correctly, at most they lose their aromatic charge or some less volatile components become predominant, changing the sensorial balance of the aroma. If I were you, you would make sure of this and of the VG/PG components used, as I have already written, and even more so of the nicotine boosters, if this is your case, used because they are the component most sensitive to degradation, oxidation, which it can definitely lead to a bitter and/or acidic taste. In any case, something is wrong with the ingredients they are using for your mixes.
