Fur babies!

My favorite thing to do was allow him to stick his snout between the door and door jamb, when solicitors would come knocking! :smiling_imp: …it’s amazing how short the conversation can actually be, when there’s a mouth full of white razor blades snapping in your face!

I haven’t been able to post about my little furry friends since we lost two happy little guinea pigs and our gorgeous baby (10 years old really) Shepherd/Lab mix in 2019. Pets are so awesome. I miss that sweet boy. He grew up with the kids as they were still small. Wore shirts, slept in their bed; it’s been tough to move on. And his siblings are both double digits old so we’re going to face this again all too soon.

I avoided going to the park I usually go to, because with the schools closed it would be festooned with entire families taking their kids out.
It was a nice and sunny day.

Fortunately there is another park not too far away that is always pretty deserted for some reason.
So we went there to avoid the crowd and play some football.

You are lucky. Atm the one close to us, lots of kids… but a shooting fatality happened 2 weekends ago.
2 men in their 60’s had a disagreement, one shot the other dead, and the police still has not found the shooter.

Stay safe!

The two seniors waiting to come in from the snow today. And no, it shouldn’t be snowing by this time of year.

Cant believe someone would send this pup to a kill shelter and had to be rescued by a no kill shelter. Yes, she has the zoomies, pulls on the leash (after two days of walking has settled down), and really there are only two issues. Doesn’t know how to play tug right (goes for the hand so no tug games…obvious), and likes to put paws on the counter (cuz, duh, she’s food motivated).

Otherwise, she is the sweetest dog. Voluntarily goes to the crate or dog bed when she has had enough. And the zoomies will calm down after she gets used to everything.

She’s gorgeous and looks very healthy!

If you only knew @Chrispdx. The things that go on day to day in that regard. All of our cats are “un-placeable” last chance cats. All supposedly could not be placed in homes, are were on their last chance. One in particular took us QUITE a while to turn the corner with, as he was very abused. We didn’t give up, he turned the corner, and is now the bestest best guard cat anyone could ask for.

Pets rule, but people are often stupid.

I’m VERY glad that the two of you, found each other.

its messed up isnt it?
We have the worst feral cat problem in australia.
Colonies of the poor things in the carparks and around the bins in every super market/mall.
It really breaks my heart.
The house we’re in now had 7 ferals living under it when we moved in.
That soon became 20.
So after finding homes for all the kittens we got help from a local cat society to have all the adults desexed.
They all have FIV and suffer from outbreaks of feline calicivirus.
They all had bad teeth so we had to get most of their teeth removed, cost us a small fortune.
(My missus through this got involved with the local cat societies, one in particular called TNR, (trap, neuter, return) its not an ideal solution but it stops the endless heartbreaking cycle.) Now we regularly get ferals and strays dropped off to us.The missus finds homes for them.
After almost 10 years we still cant even pat 2 of the original seven, they just wont have a bar of it. Those two are so cute to, a male and a female and they are inseparable. They do everything together and the male is such a sweety and gentlemen to the girl.
I get the odd stroke in when feeding them but when they realize im patting them its like WTF!
The male looks at the female like, “he’s touching you FFS” lol.
As they are all immune deficient we have to feed them really well and it takes me about an hour every day mincing up chicken breasts and fresh fish etc.
The buggers eat better than we do lol.
One that got really sick and that suffers especially bad flare ups of the calici and mouth ulcers, now lives in my room.
Ive created a little monster.
5am every morning and i get a cat on my chest and a wet nose in the face with endless meows to “feed me”.
Between us we’ve figured out that feeding her a small snack every 3 or 4 hours seems to stop the herpes type sores in her mouth from breaking out. Dont know if it has something to do with keeping her mouth salivated or not but that together with keeping her inside seems to work, just my theory.
Its a truly insidious disease,
So every few hours i get a meowth persistently telling me its time, feed me dad!
Yep, ya gotta love being a servant to our feline overlords.
Its a labour of love though, theyre great value animals.

Adorable! I’m ready for another pet but I worry about a dog being alone w/o another dog but a cat alone I wouldn’t mind. My dog has been gone almost 3 years and I’ve been looking at the shelter because it’s important to rescue one for me but I also live w ppl that won’t respect what I say and w give them anything they’re eating no matter how many times I ask not to so that’s kept me from getting another one too. My aunt is old and won’t change and otherwise she’s very sweet lol. What’re u gonna do right? Haaa
