Well, I fucked my planting up… I let them grow too much and the root systems are tangled… I think I have to leave them now
Just finish them where they are
As long as your nutrient solution stays aerated and flowing unimpeded they should be fine. How long til harvest?
The seeds say 60 days… Think I’m at around 45-ish for the tomatoes… The lettuce I’ve been plucking away at, from my understanding if you take the outer leaves off near the base you can keep going back to it.
Less than 45
Grew seeds probably around the 12th according to posts
Interesting, we had a notification on the VicEmergency app yesterday about Verroa Mite and that Vic is now closed to bees etc from NSW.
A bit concerned with the information provided by the woman in the Video as she states:
“the governments solution is to take the bees, lock everything down, shut the bees down, shut down all the bee products because of this verroa mite problem. And I know I’m here in the United States and I don’t know the regulations across the globe but I’m here to tell you that verroa mites although they can destroy a hive, for them to … put a lockdown on all bee products is absolutely insane. When I read these articles, I was extremely upset…”
Ummm No, that is not what is happening. Well at least not across the country, yes in the Eradication Zones (10kms) but there are different rules for the Surveillance Zones and General Emergency Zone (NSW whole) and it does not include “all bee products”.
Varroa mite emergency response (nsw.gov.au)
Government Gazette No 389 of Friday 19 August 2022 (nsw.gov.au)
"apiary product means anything produced by bees and includes pollen collected by bees,
but does not include:
(a) honey that has been processed,
(b) rendered beeswax, or
(c) new beeswax foundation.
And the reason for these somewhat harsh actions?
Varroa mites are exotic to Australian Honey Bees, they have no tolerance for the mite as do other bee populations around the world.
“This research confirmed that an incursion of Varroa mite in Australia would have a devastating effect on bee populations and those industries that rely on pollination.”
Yet again, more information taken out of context and no research done by someone purporting to know the facts - I guess that’s what I’m here for! - maybe I am capable of holding down a job after all
I do appreciate that this woman is providing a treatment option, unfortunately this is not an option in our country “yet”. We are still going for elimination - now where have I heard that before?
Yep! you can, we do with our Cos Lettuce in the “normal garden” - lasts forever!
edit - PS - those plants look super healthy!
Thanks, yeah, it’s actually pretty rewarding to say the least… I check on it several times a day to make sure the resevoir is pumping and what not… Can’t wait to invest a few more bucks into some other stuff as well…
another rabbit hole!
Yeah no shit, the thing with this is it’s basically like hydraulics or whatever instrumentation stuff I worked at years ago, which I’d say gives me an edge I guess. I have a lot of improvements I want to make and maybe, if I can land some part time work, I’d like to build an automated system…
Well I am interested in seeing your progress
It’s good to have something to work towards.
Thanks for clearing a few things up @Sevencasper. I stand corrected. Keep doing what you’re doing, always good to be set right and appreciate the research you did. Cheers…
Wow, this is all fascinating. Very good read everyone!
Great contribution, Joel Very helpful and thanks.
I heard you can grow mini cukes, ginger and turmeric root indoors in 5 gal buckets.
Large cucumbers actually, from what I’ve seen
My criticisms were not directed at you, I appreciate you posting something like this, if things like this are happening, I want to know.
I am just frustrated with misinformation in general lately & feel like it should be corrected when it is realised, rather than ignored
Look at those fan leaves, all perky and shit! What is the strain?
This is dr.seeds white tahoe cookies. I think they originated from archive seeds.
Check out this I think it’s just a defect and not any deficiency or excess. Found somewhere that’s it’s a trait of some og’s
