HCIGAR HBminibox 30W

Within a maelstrom of mod boxes with temperature control , hundreds of watts and double batteries, a simple and unpretendious mod box with “only” 30 watts, lacking the ability to tc your atty or lighting a headlight (but definitely able to sub-ohm decently) appeared discreetly at the vape market.
It’s the Hcigar, the HBmini box mod 30W.

It’s tech specs according to HCigar are:
Dim: 87x39x23mm
Weight: 170 gr without the battery
Output: 7-30W or 1.1-9V or 12.2A
Works with 0.2-3.3 Ohm resistances.
Input: 3.2-4.5V or 1.5-15A
Chip: Unknown manufacturer. There are rumors about HCigar being the manufacturer. Other rumors about Eleaf or a partnership between HCigar and Eleaf. Anyway, the HBmini 30W does not use a dna evolve chip like the HB 40 Ecigar mod.

Package including: box mod, usb charging cable, screwdriver, a 2nd center pin (screw) manual and authenticity scratch.

Protections:
Low or high battery voltage (low < 3.2 V)
High temperature
Short circuit or low ohm resistance
12sec cut off
Reverse battery protection
If you put very weak or very old batteries, the mod may not work or it may reset.

The OLED screen is located at the bottom of the device (such as vaporshark’s) behind a mirrored “glass. Its luminosity fades after 15sec and completely fades after 2min

The access to the battery compartment is possible via the back of the divice which slides and secures with a magnet. A fabric tape helps the user to eject the battery.
The mod’s colors are silver (gun metal) and black, with a semi glossy finish.

The beauty of the box is the engraved design at its front. A geometrical motive with the Hcigar logo at the center. At the back there are a few lines engraved.

Well, enough with the specifications!!! The base question is if the mod worth its money or not!
Well, it’s a beauty with the engraved motives. And they don’t lack quality. The finish is above its price. Heavy and big for a simple-chip, one-battery mod. It dwarfs the istick 30. If you have an allergy to the imposing mods, stay away. If you think that size matters, than it can be yours…

But under one condition: Don’t have high expectations. It’s a simple, generic mod, with one unique characteristic: it’s impressive looks. It can suit perfectly the average vapers and become an entry level mod for the sub-ohmer. It’s current is ok. Ι tested it with 1.5ohm at 10-12W and with a Delta II at a full 30W without a single problem, without seeing the battery drain. At 10 watt the battery lasted a bit longer than I expected, which is good.

Don’t know if it’s the chip speaking here or the connections.
Ohhhh…… I forgot to mention: no glues at the HBminibox. Only mechanically assembled parts. A clean inside, but also a liquidproof one?
Didn’t dare to test it, but you can!!!

I didn’t like at all the “adjustable” center pin. It’s just a screw with the screw as a gift! Is the center pin liquidproof this way or not? Since the istick30 is cheaper but has a spring self adjusted connector, I would expect no less from HBminibox. I don’t like to carry an extra screw with me, next to my kayfun’s screw (although I didn’t need it) I like my silicone sealed istick center pin because my atties often bath my mods, especially during summer.

I also disliked the buttons, which are of cheap fat plastic and noisy. Again I’ll compare with the better istick 30’s buttons.

So, to buy or not to buy???
Answer: for the average vaper is ok.
For the cloud chaser, the provari/evole lover, the tc vaper, the gozilla or tiny mod vaper it’s not ok.
Overall, for its quality and stealth is a value for money buy.
The price is approx 45$.

The groves on the brass or copper piece at the 510 connection dont line up with the slots in the body and it’s fugly as hell.
