Hello to all + questions

Hello all,

Hope you are all well.

I’m new to this forum, so maybe a quick intro.

First discovered vaping at the Luxor Casino Hotel in Las Vegas (the pyramid building). It was July 2016. I had no idea that it could be used as a replacement for smoking. And a smoker I was. Not massive, but ~10-15 smokes per day. I didn’t really know much about vaping at the time, however, I thought I would give it a go. I flew to San Francisco with my old man, and I remember my first vape purchase was made in the Haight Ashbury district. I brought 10 blu disposables back here to Oz with me.

A year or so later, blu brought out a pod system , which actually got me right off the smoking. Had they been available locally, I guess I would have found an affordable solution right then and there. Problem was, I had to import them from the USA, which wasnt cheap, (probably about the same price as smoking. I forget what that pre filled pod system was called, but they had some delicious flavours (salts).

The last time I bought a pack of cigarettes was in London in late 2018, I arrived back home with 3 cigs left, and that was October 2018. That year, I had travelled to the USA, Europe & NZ in early 2019. 5 countries in total, and in each place, vaping was either legal, (purchasing liquid, pods etc), and/or found in pharmacies as nicotine replacement therapy.

Then came 2021, and changes to the law. Don’t we just love our politicians?

I was most impressed with the eliquid found in NZ, and was ordering from there, and receiving my orders within the week - no problems, especially if I put my order through on a monday morning.

Got my first nic prescription in Feb 2022.
Prices went up, and delivery times ballooned, (but nowhere near as bad as waiting for blu products to arrive from the USA).

I let my 12 month prescription lapse.

Reason? Quite disgusting. Disposables.

They were everywhere , taste was mediocre at best, but available everywhere. It was convenient, so for the last year I have been on the iget bars. Yuck.

Anyway, finally received my new orescription today, which is valid for 12 months.

Until March, I plan to import some great eliquid.

What really angers me about this, is that the decisions of adults to vape the flavours they enjoy were ruined by criminals selling junk disposables to kids.

Why does that then mean that I / we have to be punished for this?

I fear that come March, the situation will be similar to that in many states in the USA.

In mid 2022, I was in Boston, MA and Buffalo NY. In Boston you can walk into a marijuana dispensary and buy THC in various forms that will lay you out. Nothing but proof of age required. When it comes to vaping, all that was on offer was menthol and tobacco flavours. In Buffallo, all I could find was a Juul that came with 2 yuck tobacco flavoured pods. Crossed the border into Canada for a weekend in Toronto, and there’s a weed dispensary on every corner. Whilst in Toronto (Tronno as the locals say), I noticed that like here, disposables were hugely popular. I needed a new mod kit, and at the store I walked into in downtown Toronto was a large line of young girls all asking for disposables. By the time I got to the front of the line, there were a few left. In Canada, (could just be Ontario I’m not sure), the juice you can buy (as tasty as it is), is limited to 20mg/ml (salts). Again though, only requirement is proof of age.

Went on a bit of a tangent there, but my fear is that come March, the only legal option will be to purchase menthol/tobacco flavour from a chemist, who will charge a fortune.

So, the prescription that I’ve just been issued is for 0 - 35mg/ml juice, with max of 4ml/day and 3 month supply of 400ml.

This leads me to the following questions for you guys:

There is a caveat here, which is that I am heading to QLD for 6 weeks next Thursday, So Question Number 1 is, which NZ vendor delivers the fastest?

I will be in Brisbane on Thursday & Friday, then heading to Cairns.

I’m assuming that any company that uses DHL express will ship to MELB pretty quickly.

I have used several stores over the years but for expedited delivery, which site/sites do you guys recommend?

Secondly, I’m aware that most bottles come in either 25mg/ml & 50mg/ml strengths.

I used to purchase 2 bottles of the same flavour, but I would mix a 50 with a 25, which would give me a strength of 37.5mg/ml. Previous precription was 0-50 mg/ml, so that wasn’t a problem. I might contact quit clnics and ask if they can up it to 50mg/ml so I dont need to worry.

Assuming this doesn’t work out, I don’t want to do anything illegal, but would doing this cause problems? Ie confiscation by customs.

Lastly ,

How would you go about ordering 35 mg/ml ejuice?

Would you order pure nic salts (really dont want to do it as it is time consuming and requires skills I dont have yet), or would you just stick to buying bottles of juice?

I do apologise for the long post, but I just wanted to introduce myself to a new community, and then ask my questions.

Thanks to you all.

EDIT:

I’ve just been told by a vendor in NZ that customs are checking every inbound nic package for prescriptions , thus, there is a high possibility of delay. Does anybody know how long these delays hold you up? I’m assuming 1 day?

Vendor also informed me that customs are just checking that a prescription exists, not strength per bottle, but I’m not about to risk it.

Welcome.

So they prescribe 35mg/ml! That’s very strong. You could cut that into half(17.5mg/ml). makes your 400ml into 800ml, or third(11.66mg/ml). making your 400ml into 1200ml, assuming you can buy Vegetable Glycerin. To do that you get an empty bottle the size of your existing bottle, pour half into the new bottle and then top both with Vegetable Glycerin (VG) and even flavoring if you want. Just make sure it’s high quality VG, and the flavoring is water soluble not Oil. You can stretch even more with a 50mg/ml prescription. Strength of 17.5 should keep you off the cigarettes to start with. After awhile you will be able to drop it down to 11.66 and still stay off cigarettes. We’re all different but that works for most people. Most of the regulars here have reduced to 3mg/ml over time. I stay around 7’ishmg/ml, I found I’m not satisfied with less.

So I’m not able to answer any of you questions but I just can’t imagine vaping 35 or 50!!! It’s my understanding that the Nicotine in a regular cigarette is approximately equivalent to 18mg/ml Vape juice.

Best of luck to you.

Nope, not the only issue mate. Our lovely Government are missing the taxes from cigarettes so are trying to stop the most effective way to give up the smokes. It really is not about the kids vaping but more about how to rake in as much tax as possible on tobacco.

The pods won’t go away, kids will still try vapes and cigs, the only thing that will change is that some people will go back to the cigs as it will be easier.

I would order the nic salts or freebase as once you have used the nicced juice, it is gone. With the high concentration salt of freebase you can get flavours, PG and VG and mix more when you need it. Flavours are food flavouring so be hard to ban those, PG and VG are used in other things so they should still be available to.

Come March, you will NOT be able to get any more juice from NZ (or elsewhere) even with a script, and who knows which pharmacies will have anything or how much it will cost (though I have heard it will be comparable to the cost of cigs/tobacco).

I checked with Basedrop and they’re remaining open after March 1st so PG and VG should still be readily available at a reasonable cost.
