Help with caramel

I just received a response from them.

They checked my order history, and apparently this is the first time I ordered the regular caramel flavor. Prior to this, I have been ordering the original caramel. However, the reason why I ordered the regular, was due to the change in taste I was getting with the original flavor. I went ahead and ordered another bottle of original, so I’ll mess around with the percentages. I still have over half a gallon of VG left, just need to find containers to mix it in.

I use sub-ohm mods as well, and it seems crazy how little flavor you’re mixing. I agree that 30% may be a bit high, but do you even taste the flavor? lol I’ll try dropping the mix to 15% and see how it goes.

Thanks for your responses!!

Update

I made a batch using 15% flavor, and I could barely taste the caramel. I added roughly 10% more, and it was still a very light taste, but much gooder. I don’t know how people are doing it at such low ratios, and managing to get good flavor.

How exactly are you making your juice? Here’s the exact ingredients and amounts I’m using:

For 1 liter of juice

Vegetable Glycerine - 720ml
TFA Caramel (Original) - 250ml
Nicotine 100mg w/VG Base - 30ml

And that’s it! Very simple, and I have always had good results. Well, until I ordered the regular caramel. I would normally use 30% flavor, but everyone keeps telling me that it’s way too much. So, I tried a less amount, and it’s decent.

Anyway, just curious how others are making their juice with so little flavor.

Thanks!

Your using a caramel that needs help. You may never find a good percentage using that flavor solo. Try adding a darker careml with a butterscotch and add a sweetener. Wheres your PG? Also try creating a recipe. We are able to use low percentage because we are combining flavors that support each other to get the best result.

Gotcha. So your flavor to base ration is higher. You’re just combining flavors.

I have some TFA English Toffee on the way. I used to make a mix with that and caramel that was pretty good. I’m not fond of the sweetener, though. The caramel, on its own, is sweet enough. I may try adding a little cream flavoring and seeing how that tastes.

As for PG, I’m not fond of that either. I find it gives the juice a weird flavor. It also thins out the juice, and I wind up with a leaky mod. Plus, I like to keep my recipes as simple as possible, with as few ingredients as I can.

Funny, when I started making my own juice 15ish years ago, a buddy of mine had a small business making and selling juice with a partner. His partner bailed on him, and he gave me all of his supplies. It contained about 5 gallons each of PG and VG, about another 10 gallons worth of 20+ different flavors, about a liter of nicotine, and cases of bottles! I experimented with mixing for about a year, learning how to properly make juice. You’d think I’d have it down by now! :joy: I’ll always be learning new methods, and hopefully be able to create my perfect juice, eventually…:man_shrugging:t4:

Not really , Alot of recipes still arent as high as your single flavor percentage. What most people have found over the years is that pushing a flavor too high will just make that flavor mute. PG is a much better carrier than VG thats why i ask. Just remember with your high VG ratio it will take more time for the flavor to blend in.

TPA Caramel Original is a 3 to 5pct flavor. I would start out with it at 4pct and start to fill in other flavors example

TPA Original Caramel 4pct
FA Caramel 2pct
FW Butterscotch Natural 2pct
FA Premium Custard 2pct

This would be my start…The custard is there for more body , volume, mouthfeel…You could also add a meringue or marshmallow to this mix but you see my overall pct is still only 10pct

Damnit man!!! :joy:

Maybe it is the lack of PG that’s diluting the flavor. I’ll have to grab some PG and see how much of a difference it makes. Cause like I said, I just did a small batch with 25% flavor, and it tastes a bit light.

I’ll keep ya posted as I progress!

I just wanna add quick too, I believe if you’re used to a high flavor % it’s harder to taste a mix. When I switched from commercial to diy I couldn’t taste much. Also, there’s a lot of flavors I can’t taste too much, FLV Sweet crunch is very good for being able to taste. It tastes like actual corn flakes. I only use that one at 3.5% with 2% Bavarian cream.

At the end of the day though, I suppose mixing is subjective. You gotta do what you like.
