Has anyone experienced harshness from Real Flavours Bread pudding and cinnamon custard. I’ve made two mixes 30pg 70vg 3 mg nic. The nic is good so I know it’s not that. The taste is very good but I can’t understand why it’s so harsh. Any advice?
I am just starting to experiment with them but I noticed they were both a little harsh and weak on flavor until I let them steep for 2 to 3 weeks.
What percentage of flavor are you using?
12% with Bread pudding and 10% with the cinnamon custard. They have steeped now for 4 weeks. There is a lot of positive reports on the flavours and I agree the taste is good. It is a little week though.
Not sure I can be of much help as those are the same %'s I used
I mixed them at 10%PG 90% VG but I am adding 1% of either TFA or FW Marshmallow not as a sweetener but for the mouth feel.
I also only vape in Temperature Control now.
Hopefully some others more familiar will give there opinion.
Ok thanks.
i experienced this but only after a 3 week steep. For the first week I vaped the bread pudding like crazy. I burned myself out a little. Took a break. After 3 or so weeks all 3 bottles were harsh. Not sure why. I some else I read had a similar problem.
I personally find most cinnamon flavors a little harsh, and both these guys have cinnamon in them. But I found the flavor on both to be quite strong at 10%, so maybe there’s something else going on? Make sure you have a good build if you’re using a dripper or RTA, cuz I can’t tell you how many times I’ve thought I had a bad recipe only to realize it was dandy on another device and I just needed to rewick.
I mixed the Bread Pudding at 8% with the Cinnamon custard at 5% and it was great after about 3 days. Just thought I’d share that with you…
Interesting. I’ve heard the same on the curing process. I would of thought it would better with age.
I am here and will try my best to help. Honestly I am not the best with eliquid recipes. Maybe one of the normal guys can help from our main thread. Have you asked in there?
I would like to inform this thread that if I mix all VG flavor, I add 5% PG if no other flavors I am using contain PG. This helps me get better flavor in all VG recipes. I also use the same VG that Walt sells, the palm base. I find that if I use a thicker VG, then I get a weaker flavor and the flavors can taste funny. I hope this helps, I am vaping my Bread Pudding and Cinnamon Custard with 5% and using palm VG,it’s over a month old, and it is smooth and tasty…
Thanks Walt. I’m going to try again with a slightly higher vg. On your website it suggest 7-10% I think. This bread pudding mix was 12%. I don’t want to add any other flavours as this tastes so good. I’ll try a slightly lower % and see how it turns out.
My nic base is pg. I’ll try a slightly higher vg and lower the flavour percentage.
Yea I have not been steepingmine but 5 to 10 days
Bread pudding and cinnamon custard
I would try the lower percentage like you said. The flavor on this really deepens and develops over the steep period. A lot of mixers will use higher percentages in S&V’s because the flavor is weaker generally when fresh, but then can turn to chemically notes after steeping. I also have noticed I have to lower the percentages I use on other brands custards as well when steeping. They strengthen over time, and I have found that especially to be true with vg based flavors. I also mix mine at 30/70 pg/vg.
I haven’t had any that seemed any harsher with time , I have had a couple that seemed a little weaker ,Sugar Cookie and Strawberry Milkshake. One that seemed slightly stronger, oddly enough after two weeks and that was the Cinnamon Custard.
On mixes that I only use Real Flavors I am going to start mixing smaller batches and eliminate the steeping completely.I have yet to find any flavor that wasn’t good after a quick froth and a 20 minute cycle in the USC for 15 minutes.Of course as always taste is very subjective.
I’ve tried two new mixes. Lower % and upped the vg. Still getting the harshness I’ve even tried without nic. Maybe it’s an off batch.
