How long do you let FA White Grape steep?

I bought a bottle of FA White Grape about ~9 months ago and stuck it in a drawer. I pulled it out a month ago, said wow this smells great, and I just finished it. I bought a new bottle, and it smells insanely and perfumy. I was working on a few new recipes, and substituting the new fresher FA White Grape is really throwing everything off.

I doubt FA changed formulas… Maybe I’m going crazy, what’s the steep time on FA White Grape?

What percent are you using it at?

High, 5-7%. I know it’s normally used at 2%.

I’m talking about smelling the flavoring bottle.

My suggestion would be to drop the % down to 1-1.5% and then pair it with FW white grape in the 4-5% range…

It is quite possible the fragrant and volitile high notes were lessened over time due to the permeability of the (plastic?) Bottle it was stored in. LDPE bottle? Flavors concentrates do change over time depending on storage(temperature, light, type of container), high notes may escape and lessen over time. Your usage of 5% is based of the “aged” concentrate. As before lower to 1-1.5% maybe allow for some off gasing of volitiles with a heat bath and lid off. Also try FW white grape

I agree completely with the FW white grape suggestion. For my tastes it is the superior white grape. The FA white grape is a more dry, crisp flavor but to me not that good on its own. FW white grape is a very versatile flavor and can be used as a base for many fruit mixes.
