Egos are what got me off cigarettes 11 years ago. Went to VV/VW about a year later and sub-ohm about a year after the VV/VW. I am grateful for the egos that started my vaping journey and put an end to my smoking.

Boomer here, too, but we’re not dinosaurs. We’re fine wine. I’m still vaping Kanger Evods (since 2010), plus some tanks+mods. Always surprised and confused why the flavor (of the same juice) varies so much between the old Evods and a newer tank at about the same ohms.
But the Evod days are definitely numbered. Can’t find cotton coils anywhere now. Still some silica coils out there that are easily re-wicked with cotton.
I recently started experimenting with pods. First was a Vaporesse XROS Pro. Nice little unit, even smaller than an Evod rig. Nice MTL flavor and vapor, at 0.85 ohms just a little hotter than the 1.5 to 2.0 ohm Evod. But I expect I won’t be able to find replacement pods (coils) for that one in a couple years. The whole industry is churning so fast, most products don’t last very long. Even the few who sell that XROS Pro now show out-of-stock on most replacement pods.
