I’ve been wondering about what my next tank will be. I’ve been using a Kanger Subtank Mini, but it’s literally a dinosaur in this modern vaping landscape.
I’m looking for a replacement, and I’ve been looking at the various incarnations of the Innokin Ares.
Question is, will it (more or less) mimic the vaping style I’m used to in the Subtank Mini? What other options are out there.
I’ve even found a source for Uwell Crown 1 and 2 tanks. Does anyone have any experience with these equally ancient tanks?
I’m an old fart who’s stuck in his ways. I’m a ‘Boomer’. LOL
Not familiar with the vaping style of the Sub Tank Mini. Is it MTL, RDL or DL? Would you consider it a fairly open airflow or more on the restricted side?
Depending on the air flow settings, it’ll give a fairly tight MTL draw with the smallest hole. A looser draw with the middle, and a restricted DL draw with the largest setting.
Subtanks were a good tank and I agree to rebuild the coils was/is easy. I have the Crown 1 and personally I find it an almost equally good tank although you may find it a bit airier than the Subtank. The coils for the Crown are also rebuildable but are more fiddly.
I have the Ares 2 and don’t think it’s as good as either of the above as it didn’t seem to give me comparable flavour. Sorry Mr. Busardo but that’s my opinion. Ok but……
Modern day tanks aren’t really something I can really comment on so my 2c worth is if your Subtank is showing its age and you can find a Crown 1 it’s probably a reasonable choice to make. There may be comparable modern day substitutes around and hopefully someone else can chime in and offer you some thoughts.
Edit… I just thought I should add the Crown 1 has an airflow control ring which is proud of the base so if you’re using it on a side by side bear that in mind. Also my son uses the Crown 4 and 5 and they’re definitely aimed at DL.
I agree with @Gazza7 regarding the ares 2 being airy and not overly flavourful. The Berserker 3 is not too bad or, if you can find it, the Galaxies RTA. I slso agree that the Crown is a good option as you have access to it.
Back in 2022 I ordered two Crown 3 tanks and some RBA’s which I mistakenly thought would fit. They didn’t. Only 1’s and 2’s will fit them. They vape really well, but the pre-built coils burn a little too hot to my liking. They’re now stashed away in my vape drawer as an emergency backup.
I was a stm junkie for a few years and finally settled in with the qp juggerknot mini mr rtas but those are getting harder to find as well. If you are needing rbas for the stms I have a few new rbas you are welcome to. I also have a top fill stm left, you are welcome to all of them. RTDAs are also great with good af options but I prefer those for home only tanks.
I think i have you all beat. I know i still have it in a box somewhere.
2006 infomercial e cig. I think one of the first
What got me into vaping. You only used to get like 10 puffs per catridge which was a tiny pad with flavor on it. They came in 3 flavors . Vanilla , cappuccino and cherry. All 3 i remember being pretty damn good actually. Iv tried to recreate them but never was able to. They kept sending me cases of cartridges for like 2 years lol.
Oh yeah, got plenty of them, bought them at the gas stations all the time, then they came out with a case that charged them, I think 4-5 cigs in a look a like cigarette pack!! I still got them some where around here.
