I quit smoking years ago when the Vape industry just started and there were only like Menthol, tobacco and a few fruit flavors. I really loved it right away and had a bunch of vape pens like the first ones they ever came out with lol… But unfortunately I went back to smoking I don’t even remember what the happened or why I quit I believe it was something about the hardware and not being able to get it anyway long story short. 2yrs ago A friend of mine gave me a small mod and a whole bottle of strawberry cheesecake and I have never smoked another cigarette since. Now before I even knew about ELR I would go to my local vape store and order their house juices just to mix up my own concoction. They had this awesome vanilla custard and a fairly good butterscotch flv so I’d mix them together and wow I thought it was just great I can’t believe all along that this website was here and I had no idea. I was even buying from a friend who made his own juice and he never told me anything he was very secretive about it all. I just had no idea so needless to say I am very new to this and I am so happy that I have found you guys I’m just learning how to use everything I have read almost all the tips so any help is much appreciated thanks for having me …

Welcome to ELR @BGz

:+1:That’s how I started at DIY, mixing a couple commercial juices together, lol. I also found many commercial flavors too strong or too sweet and would cut them in half with a premix 20/80 base!
Guess it was a good stepping stone into mixing!

Please don’t be sorry! It’s such a success story!!! If I could only ask please? I think you should put your recommendations out by themselves about what you learned regarding vaping. It’s a good bit of knowledge that a lot of people who are using vapes may not know about.
Own it… you’re a pro now. Glad to see you on the site!!! and I think it’s fantastic you were able to quit all of the different addictions you were dealing with! You really do have a lot of knowledge about retailers, mods, salt nic vs. regular nic, what a smoker may need in order to quit (trust me, it took me time to find out).

IDK? I’d like to see your information in a condensed form? Direct? What you know and learned? It’s really good stuff. I guess we forget what it was like. Trust me, these people fought tooth and nail to help me mix and make recipes. They’re some of the best people I have ever texted. I consider them all close friends.

I think it’s a fabulous bit of knowledge personally. Anyway, I hope to see you texting and join in! Welcome aboard!!!

My story may sound too simple, still…

In 2017 I was a real pro with everything connected to alcohol, cigarettes and night fun. I am young, so I was still able to almost recover and live my life next day. I realized that such bad habits ruing my health and in 20 years (or 5) I would regret a lot somewhere in a hospital paying a lot for treatment. Still, I was drinking alcohol like 3 times per week (1 heavy at the weekend) and smoking 5-7 cigarettes a day.

One day my friend called me and asked if I am able to play basketball with them at the hood, just because one guy had a trip somewhere so won’t be able to play (they have not invited me before  ). I found some reason to refuse him, and even thought “playing sports? lul not me, not today ahah”. Next hour I went down my apartments to pick my food delivery without elevator. It took like 3 mins to go down, pay and come back… I would never forget the feeling in my lungs (it was really hard to breathe) and sweating all over my body. I felt like I just finished marathon, but it was just couple of floors. That moment, I thought it was a sign for me.

So, briefly, after that I started to take care about my health. Some yoga once per week (now it is 3 times + meditations), jogging (I wasn’t able to run more than 3 mins first time) and started to drink less. And much more healthy things - I found the study that sports creates much better endorphins than alco and tobacco.

Right now I drink like one beer in 3-4 months, just to feel the taste, not about being drunk. I stopped smoking at all, only vaping 1-2 times per day. Regular sports activities with some cardio (ping pong, tennis, biking).

Hope that was not too long to read. Hope someone would find this useful and quit doing useless things.

Well, two years ago today I smoked my last cigarette. Before long, I was already making my own juices, thanks to the ELR community. I have learned many things, NET, SFT, to combine flavors, how they are paired, I have learned to make coils, I have learned about mods, about tanks, in short, thanks to this forum I have learned what it takes to be almost almost self-sufficient. I still don’t have extraordinary recipes, like some I’ve found here, but hey, not everyone is valid for everything … Thank you all, don’t forget that if you visit Barcelona, I invite you for a beer, and sorry for the grammar. A hug to all, thank you very much, honestly.

Great Idea The Joker,

I smoked about 20/Day for 44 years, never thought I’d quit, why! I enjoyed it. I enjoyed the nicotine, I enjoyed rebelling against my new dad who threatened to ram the packet down my throat 40 years ago, I enjoyed supporting my birth dad who smoked. However as with others didn’t like the lack of freedom with smoking or the forever rising cost (NZ$37.50 for 20)

Anyhow one morning I saw what I perceived as an anti-vape documentary on Netflix thought that sounds perfect, that day I went to purchase a Juel? but lucky for me the Vape shop didn’t have them so I got a Caliburn, asked for tobacco flavour (grunt) didn’t really like it, but fortunately guys at work where also Caliburn and they suggested mango.

I’ve had 1.5 cigarets since, while device was charging. quickly learned for me I needed more than one device.

Weird I smoked the same flavour for about 35-40 years but now with Vaping 8m 6d 16h I have over 30 flavours most I’ve mixed in one way or another and 4 Caliburn’s each with a different flavour most days.

Keep it up
Cos

I vaped for a couple years then was kinda forced to quit because of compounding circumstances. I started smoking again (cheap filtered cigars). That went on for 2 years. I bought a Caliburn about 3 weeks ago and a week later I noticed I had only smoked a few cigarettes. And the only reason I smoked those is because I knew I no longer needed them. I was just smoking them to finish off my last pack, which I still have 14 left.

The local vape shops asked why I wanted a Caliburn when I bought it. I told them I wanted to try nic salts juice, plus I wanted something similar to smoking to eventually pass the Caliburn to a friend. I am glad I did, because the Caliburn with nic salts is very similar to smoking.

Meanwhile, I ordered a Snow Wold Mfeng kit and some 3mg juice. It was a super smooth transition to sub-ohming again.

3 days ago, I gave my Caliburn and nic salts juice to the friend, who is doing pretty good on it. I also got a Snow Wolf UX kit from Rocky here, and ordered a Steam Crave Hadron 220 with the Aromamizer Plus V2 advanced RDTA kit. I am now vaping the hell out of it along with my two Snow Wolf mods.

I haven’t had a cig in 3 days now. And the funny thing is, I could go smoke one right now with absolutely no fear that I would end up buying another pack.

Vaping works if people just give it a chance. But buying the right vape gear and juice is key. Local vape shops here seem to be more interested in the bottom line than they are the end result. So having a vaping friend really helps.

I smoked a pack a day for 15 years and would wake up every morning hacking my lungs up. A coworker of mine was outside vaping and I began to ask questions . Little did I know that would lead to one of the greatest decisions I have ever made in my life. I began vaping and I’m sure like a lot of you it was a struggle at first but it was a life changing experience. I haven’t had a cigarette in over 7 years now and I can breath I can run and I can wake up in the morning without waking everyone in my house up.

I started smoking when I was 12 in 1979, I used to get cigs from my mothers pack when she was not looking. In my first year of high school I was caught smoking and given a 2 week school suspension. My parents were upset, but not hypocrites so they allowed me to smoke at home after that and I got an allowance to buy my cigarettes.

I went from smoking around 10 cigs a day to 30 per day in a short space of time. Over the years as pack sizes grew, so did my addiction and was smoking 50+ a day. Here in Australia, the gov taxes cigarettes quite heavily I decided to start smoking “roll your own” tobacco instead. Before I started vaping I was going through 2 x 55 gram pouches of tobacco a week at a cost of around AU$110.

Roll on to Jan 27th 2018 and I started vaping. Since that day I have not had a single cigarette, nor felt the need for one. After more than 30 years of smoking, vaping allowed my to quit in one day! Like many others, I wish I had found vaping a lot earlier as it has changed my life.

Holy crappers, Ianc13! What a story. I can’t believe you smoked that much and are still standing. I am over the moon happy for you. What a great testament to vaping. Thx for reminding me why I love it so much.

Hi everybody!

So my story…I was smoking for about 20 years. Mostly roll your own tobacco, 2-3 pouches per week. I tried to quit “cold turkey” for about a month with devastating effects (my wife who doesn’t smoke and hates the smell, offered to buy me cigarettes…to save our marriage and my life because she was contemplating killing me  ). So I started again. In an effort to limit smoking, I started smoking pipe. I couldn’t smoke the pipe at work and I would smoke only at home, right? No way. I started again rolling cigarettes at work (3-5 per day) and I went through 3-4 bowls of pipe at home. Almost 1,5 pack a day.

At the same time I was looking for a way to quit. Vaping was on my mind and I read a lot of contradicting articles (remember it was the time that in USA, people started dying from vaping illegal marijuana products). So I went to the sources. Reading doctors essays I was convinced this was the way to try. At Christmas I decided to buy a good set to start, but I was doing it alongside smoking, as a way to limit smoking. In the first 2 months I was at 1-2 bowls of pipe/day and at work I was only vaping. Slowly but steadily I was starting to vape more and more. At 6 months I started mixing and I stopped buying pipe tobacco. I was smoking 3-5 cigarette/month only when I was with my friends for the next months. On the 5th of October 2019 I smoked my last cigarette. I decided I didn’t need it any more. Last Christmas I cut my nicotine to half and now I’m contemplating to reduce it even more.

All this time, I have a packet of cigarettes in my drawer, unopened. Today is the day to throw it away and I wanted to share with all of you, who helped me so much these last years.

I think this is my first post in this community and I want to thank you all for your support, infos, stories and experiences that you share, and I hope that I can be a more active member in the near future!

I’ve been a smoker for 51 years, the last 5 years have been vape only, Thanksgiving day is when I quit. It took me over a year to finally quit the garbage stuff. As soon as I started vaping I cut my 2 pack a day habit in half! Then it took me a year to finish the switch. Glad I did. Still have 5 cartons of cigs in my freezer and I will NEVER look back! Feel so much better, and yes, of course, I smell better too :+1: The wife is much happier too. You CAN DO IT! I use an Endura T 18II MTL unit. Of course, I started with the Ego, most of us did I think. Fire Cured Virginia is all I vape, I mix my own, not very well I may add, lol.
