Thats positive! I’ll get on there & have a look around. Cheerz
Hey @Josephine_van_Rijn & @Jimk… up-date time!..Yep, already!!
You’ll recall I said…
Well, as I’d never used a flavor with an alcohol base before, I decided to seek the advise of the vendor before I diluted my 10 down to 30. And I’m glad I did. He said…
“To steep them quickly, make your mix, take the tip and cap
off and leave it for 48-72hrs. Put the tip in and cap on and give it a good
shake every 24hrs. You should have the correct profile at that point.”
So, the French Pipe… This process has changed the character & profile of this flavor enormously from my first taste. The cedar. Well, its no where near the “in-your-face” cigar type of cedar I experienced the other night. I definitely put that down to the alcohol base. The cedar is still there, but now it has blended with the other qualities of the flavor it has become quite sweet- not in a bad way at all, but a little sweeter than you’d expect from cedar. It has also become much less dominant. I couldn’t say it has become a back-note- I think it’s more forward than that, but that pure cedar sensation is now intertwined with everything else.
The cigar qualities have almost gone -but is it more pipe than cigar? Hmm, not sure …a bit of both? but in another week, who knows…
To sum it up… It’s definitely a keeper! I think it is a lovely flavor. As it is, it’s very mild at 3%, & quite vapable as a stand-alone, but it lacks body …lacks bottom-end. BUT, I think, ad some cigar …perhaps Toscano or Cuban (honestly, I dont know) & I think I’d have the “cigar flavor with a cedar note” that I was looking for …well, it’d be pretty darn close, & maybe close enough for me to call off the search!
And the Black Fire? Well, this is an interesting one… I wouldn’t have thought this is your usual type of tobacco flavor. I say that because my experience of e-tobaccos is extremely limited- I dont know what an RY4 or similar tastes like, but I imagine this could be in that league. I can’t really taste this as tobacco, but what ever it is, its bloody tasty!! Some chocolatey notes goin on with some other sweet stuff (but not too sweet), & you know, maybe the tiny, tiny, tinyest hint of cedar - but that could be the FP playin tricks on me!
This is good stand-alone, but would be better to mix with others. It also lacks body on its own, but would ad body to a mix. Does that make sense?
All in all, I think I’ve got 2 nice flavors here that’ll come in real handy. So Jim, I’d say that because it would appear you can acquire these from VZ, should you feel so inclined, give 'em a go (or, at least the FP)!..& Jose, because its a choice between postage from the States, or postage from Downunder, I’d recommend waiting till you get the nod from the someone here who knows what he’s talkin about!
Vape on!!
I will definitely do that. If it is a flavour that really differs from other flavours by other vendors that is. The French pipe I have is pretty nice. What you could do I suppose is get a bottle of French pipe from Inawera and compare the two. I love to hear how this flavour develops with some more time.
tryed FA oakwood?
Dark Fire by Inawera is also quite nice. It has a bit of a smokey flavour to it which is very good. Ordered Welsh Pipe and Havana Cigar from Decadent Vapours today, see what that’s like I hope.

tryed FA oakwood?
Yep, we’ve tried that, red oak too but it isn’t cedar
I havent had any luck finding inawera french pipe over here as you suggested,
but I did get my first cigar flavor to ad to the JF French Pipe…
Will this be the cigar flavor w cedar notes??.
I went for TFA Cubano & have no idea if that was the
best choice. I was hoping for a robust & full-bodied cigar flavor to
contrast the cedar of the FP. Jim has spoken reasonably highly of it so thats the one I
chose. Turns out its not as full-bodied as I was looking for…maybe if I mixed it at 10%…?
Anyhow, after a couple of trials, this is what I ended up with…
<a Cuba
Ingredient | % |
---|---|
Cubano (TPA) | 5 |
French Pipe (VZ) | 2.5 |
Mild Black (TPA) | 3 |
Flavor total: 10.5%
Not being familliar with the Cubano (or any other cigar
flavor for that matter!), I started light at 2% with my first mix. The cedar from the FP was coming through well, but closely inter-twined with the FP sweetness Ive mentioned earlier. Also, there was no where near enough cigar …showd promise though.
So with the C at 5%, the cedar from the FP has moved more to
the background but still messed up with the “sweetness”. I added the MB for a bit more body - although thats on the sweeter side, it didnt seem to ad to the inherent sweetness of the FP.
So in conclusion, yes, we have cedar…yay! But, it’s sweet, and lacks purity because of that…boo! If we can only counter the sweet aspect… ditching the MB would prob be a good place to start, but the sweetness of the FP is still definitely going to need an antidote!
With Jim on “hiatus”, I’ll take the punt here Jose, and suggest you get a bottle of the JF or VZ FP. Although I havent tried the INW FP, I’m quite confidant you’ll find it unique.
I kinda like the Cubano, so far the best cigar flavour I’ve tried. Recently ordered another 30 ml of the stuff. The Inawera Old Havana has something of a cedar note but needs a very long steep. At first it just taste like perfume. It’s only smelling my cedar paper when wet that made me realise it was the same kinda thing.

With Jim on “hiatus”,
Jim has discovered something new. Check out his recent comments on his recipe Fidel’s Private Stock. He’s gone on a Chinese adventure Unfortunately for me these flavours he’s using are not really available here. I’m still looking around for them.

suggest you get a bottle of the JF or VZ FP
I suppose I will have to do that, but I have to see what the shipping costs are going to amount to. Mostly it is over $20 very expensive. Getting a larger order to make that worth it results in additional custom fees I’m sure I will eventually hit that buy button, just can’t help myself
Thinking about adding the Don Hill to see if that will add more cedar to the cigar. I’ve made a batch of N.E.T from La Paz cigars, cold extraction with PGA, turned out quite well, added some Am4a and Don Hill to some of it. It is steeping now and I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
But how best to “beef” it up a bit - give it more body?
I was thinking adding something like dark vapor or perique? …but honestly, I have no idea as I have tried neither
Yes, Ive seen that…& drooled…(.as I have with just about all his recipes)! Unfortunately though, I dont have most of those flavors …even the ones that arent Chinese! All in good time!
added some Am4a
What is this?
Be careful with the Perique. Keep it under 1% or it will ruin your juice. Needs a good steep too or it will taste like rotten Jalapeño! Gives a very nice kick to a mix if you add a small amount.
This is the last life sign from Jim

@Jose ~ So, you might have heard me say once or twice “hell would freeze over before I vape an eliquid flavoring made in China”. Well, hell is really chilly right now… I purchased the SC (super concentrate) Cohiba tobacco made in China; holy crap it’s good! Between that and the INW TA Garuda (and a bunch of Hangsen tobaccos), I’m in tobacco heaven right now. I’ll probably diddle with the FPS II version of this recipe, adding the Cohiba and Garuda and see what happens…gotta be good!
I’ve ordered some Garuda Tobacco Absolute, it is for adding to tobacco liquids to bring out the tobacco like DNB I suppose. Maybe that will add the body you’re looking for? I’m eagerly awaiting the next vapemail Unfortunately no Cohiba to be had in this part of the world. I’ll have to keep looking.
Cheers!..Thx for that.
Cant say I’ve ever tasted rotten jalapeno …& I dont think I want to by the sound of it!
Having infinitely more experience with tobaccos than me, do you think perique is the best choice? What would you suggest?
To me, the cubano is a good flavor, it just seems to lack something - I guess I think it needs more ‘bottom-end’, or ‘body’ …maybe just gusto - does that make sense?
Another thing I forgot to mention, the FP totally cancels the ‘ashy’ qualities of the cubano, so maybe some Garuda Tobacco Absolute as Jim has suggested to you would be a good idea as well.
…I’ve really gotta splurge & stock-up on my tobacco’s!!
Ok, so I’ve just checked ALL the decent Aussie vendors- NONE of them carry ANY of Jims heavenly finds!
Perique adds a little spice to a mix, I’m hoping Garuda will give some body to it.

the FP totally cancels the ‘ashy’ qualities of the cubano,
I like the ashiness of the Cubano, DNB from Inawera provides some ash to a mix too. .5% is quite sufficient.
Same here, I feel your pain!
Well… I can get that over here at least!
Sweet Mary on a Segway! My ears have been burning off my head over the past 24 hrs with all this banter about tobaccos on this innerwebs forum!
Good to see the search for awesome tobacco vapes are still happening!
I’m feeling refreshed from my little digital hiatus and have been looking forward to hearing about new discoveries from the tobacco fans on ELR.
I have been branching out to new, off the beaten path, tobacco liquids as of late. And by branching out, I mean putting aside some of my earlier prejudiced views of flavoring produced in China. Specifically, Hangsen and SC “super concentrated” flavoring which is sold via numerous vendors under their own “house name” branding.
I’ve also been doing some searching around for vendors in the EU who might carry these liquids. Hangsen is not the issue; I’m sure EU folks can find it easy enough. It’s the SC flavoring that’s the rub.
Anyway, I’ve been able to concentrate a bit on mixing while away and have about 25 new mixes in steep sleep. Fingers crossed, they’ll all be tasty!
Welcome back!.. Hows the tan?
Thinking about it… if hell’s been freezing… probably not that great, eh?
Thx! Well, I wouldn’t say I got much of a tan; no vacationing here! I’ve been stuck inside a windowless box for the past few weeks doing shows at the theatre…ninja vaping behind the scenery.
I’m afraid that is incorrect. Hangsen is not the issue if you’re looking for eliquid but flavours is a completely different ballgame. Hangsenshop in Poland is all and their shipping costs are atrociously high
Juice Factory sells the cohiba super concentrate. Just discovered that when I looked for the French Pipe. I bought both of them
