Lemon butter cookie recipe fix

Hi all,

Im new to DIY. Ive mixed one shots in the past. Im not much into inventing own recipes as where im from, all the conc are very hard to come by and theres only one website. And cost is 2x of us or uk.

So my only option is to test out successful recipes from ELR and ATF since commercial liquids r sold here at 2x the price with minimal availability.

So ive picked up a recipe which had decent reviews.

Sharing the recipe here.

CAP lemon meringue pie 12%
Cap sugar cookie 5%
Lemon Sicily FA 1.25%
Super sweet 0.5%

Sharing link to recipe here. Check cookies

I vape on steam crave supreme v3 rdta, 2 coil at 0.16 ohms and 74W.

I weighed by weights, 70/30 at 3mg nic strength. This had good reviews and comments but after steeping for 2 weeks and tried it today, the vape is pretty much lifeless. Theres no cookie, no richness or deapth to the flavor. Is there any suggestions u have on this recipe. Its very one dimensional.

Also would appreciate how i can find recipes worth trying in 2024 as i understand a lot of top recipes are from the past and a lot have changed. Im stressing on the issue of the pricing of concentrates here as all are imported and its not feasible for me to have 100s of concentrates to learn how to create a recipe.

Thanks a advance

Ill bet this recipe has a strong taste off the shake but iver time its going to mellow. There really isnt much you can do except create something better that steeps well. Lemons fade except 1 and that 1 you arent going to be able to get.

Lemon Sicily fades no matter how much or little you use. SC lemon is a great lemon with staying power and is sold under many vendor names like FE for example. Think there is a list somewhere here on the forum what vendors are rebranding the SC line.

Well, I thought your numbers looked ‘whack’ so I checked the link you posted which does NOT match what you typed in.

You need to understand we all have different taste buds so some get furniture cleaner from lemons in general.

@nithint1093 welcome to the DIY game.

Damn good choice there.

You’re damn right it is, that is an insane amount of CAP LMP. It’s probably folding over on itself, muting, and killing everything else in it’s wake. Where’s the Cookie ??

All that is, in an overflavored LMP, no offense to the creator.

I’d start over, and actually get some COOKIE and BUTTAH in there !!!

I adapted one I make, that uses the “Tripple Threat”, to maybe give you some idea of Lemon Layering. It’s not perfect, and the Lemons do settle down, but work together.

Hey, my bad while i typed it in. I used the same as the recipe says.

Well ive been a lemon addict amaong vape juice. Some of my fav are lemon jam monster, vapetesia lemon custard, dinner lady lemon tart, chefs uk tart au citron. The issue here is the juice is very one dimensional. It pretty much taste like the i guess lemon meringue pie conc.

Theres no cookie, theres no butteriness, theres no depth or saturation in flavor, and def not a great juicy mouthfeel.

Though i dont intend to mix and make my own recipes, after reading and watching a lot of podcasts from folkart, ElR forums etc the recipe u shared makes more sense to me to come together. Sadly i dont get MF and SSA concentrates in India. We get the usual TFA, CAP, WF etc.

This recipe ive tried lack saturation, depth of flavor or mouthfeel which i usually find in Comercial liquids. And like ive mentioned, ive had good liquids made by people i know locally.

Thanks a lot for ur input session drummer.

Also can u help me how i can filter out recipes worth trying since the rating and comments doesn’t seem to be very reliable.

Hi Fidalgo, lemon fading isnt even the issue. The comments spoke highly of the recipe at 5 stars.

The vape is pretty much lackluster. Theres no butteriness, saturation, mouthfeel.

Seems like a bad recipe, but i wonder how ill be able to differentiate good recipe from bad. Like ive mentioned, since im from india these conc comes out to be very expensive and thres only one vendor. Really bad luck i guess

Well the recipe called for 5% sugar cookie (a realistic amount to me), yet your post here and on the recipe comment you put 1% (I see you’ve changed it here now).

Seriously, being new to DIY and you want a commercial taste - add more sweetener.

@nithint1093 at least as far as the adaptation of my recipe, you can sub whatever lemons you have on hand for a SIMILAR effect.

As far as screening out the “great” recipes, it’s hard. Many are very old, and worked best on older equipment, but are very overflavored for todays equipment. Then we have the matter of palate, and individual taste. What’s great for me, may be terrible for you.

It might be better to find a MIXER who seems to share YOUR palate, and tastes, and check out other recipes, rather than searching soley for the HIGHEST ranked ones.

I’ve spotted a few issues with this recipe starting with the Cap LMP. LMP by itself is mainly a bakery without a lot of Lemon mostly crust. Cap LMP V2 is the opposite more lemon less crust. Cap Sugar cookie is great but by itself is very linear not much body, it needs something like a Cap or INW biscuit to add more body. The FA lemon Sicily is a great lemon but it fades really fast. Try something like Cap Juicy Lemon and or Cap Lemon Lime which holds up to a steep better. Also a touch (.50) of Key Lime or any lime can help boost a lemons flavor & staying power. Finally if you want a butter cookie try adding CAP Butter cream it brings a butter flavor and keeps the cookie moist without making it greasy like Cap Golden butter can.
Here is a remix I did of Sad Boy Lemon Cookie using all Capella. It’s similar to the original. You can also use tpa meringue in place of Cap, and InW Biscuit in place of Cap biscuit. It also only requires a few days of steeping but will be better the longer it steeps.

Biscuit (SilverLine) (CAP) 2.00

Butter Cream (CAP) 1.50

Juicy Lemon (CAP) 1.50

Lemon Lime (CAP) 2.00

Meringue (Silverline) (CAP) 2.00

Sugar Cookie (CAP) 5.00

Super Sweet (CAP) 1.00

There are a lot of great flavors on that site. I seen some Flavour Art as well.

Unfortunately, this is me. Love lemon flavors in RL but in a vape I have to watch out. So far, the only lemon flavor I can mix with and feel safe is Lemon Pound Cake (SSA). I bet MF Lemon would be safe for me but I don’t have it because I’ve just steered away from lemon, period. I can use Lemon Lime (CAP) in cocktails because somehow the sharp taste of booze seems to beat down the lemon. Weird, huh?

Speaking of which, do you know anything about the Golden Super Concentrates by FE at Flavor Jungle? Or maybe I should ask our resident flavor tester @SessionDrummer

Sorry muth but I don’t know much, I don’t have many FE flavors.

@muth the only Golden flavors from FE that I see at Flavor Jungle, are just descriptive of the flavor/flavor name, it’s not a line, or category.
