I decided to try one of my WIPS tonight with the Vapor Base.I love the Real Flavors Shamrock Shake flavor so I am trying to figure out a way to enhance that flavor without destroying it in the process.I was losing some of the subtle notes and I think it was simply over flavored.
It is still very much a “work in progress” but after a quick froth and 20 minute cycle in the USC it is already much much improved.
This is also my first Liquid Labs mix using flavorings other than Real Flavors.This will be a good indicator for me if I will be able to use it the way I hope and that is without any limitations.If I can get it to work equally well with flavorings by Capella’s ,Flavorah ,and Real Flavors in the same mix I will be very happy.It is still private but I think it may now be on the right track. I will keep notes on how it progresses and the changes I make along the way.

i have scales to the thousandth…but i think they only do up to 20 or 50 grams, i cant remember which and i am not at home to look. so, my question is: how much are you wanting one of us to weigh at a time?

EDIT: i just looked up my scales and they weigh 20 grams to the thousandth of a gram (0.001g). so if thats in your range, i’ll be your Huckleberry.

EDIT #2: my scales come with either 1 or 2 10g calibration weights, so i guess i could weigh up to 30 or 40 grams.

@VaporBase I would like to see a few screenshots of the ELR calculator when using VaporBase.
If I get 3mg VB and want a 70/30 3mg nic mix, do I leave the calculator set for 0% nicotine
and 0% PG and 100% VG…then add my flavoring?

Yes, that’s exactly what I do. I don’t even try and calculate the amount of Nicotine because I already know that it’s at 3mg. All I use the calculator for is to tell me how much of each flavoring I need for the amount of e-liquid I want to make.

Here’s how I use the ELR calculator to mix up a 120 of Mustard Milk using 3mg VaporBase. Super simple.

I thought the point Evan was making for Vapor Base with nicotine was to alleviate the PG and VG, …to make it easier…and just add the flavorings. Maybe I missed something??? IDK
I am not ready to go below 3mg nic either, but if I used VB maybe I would get the 6mg nic and just let the flavorings
dilute it according to my mix, and have my nic up just a little. I did use 24mg nic just a couple of years ago, so I’m already way down.

That is the main point; to make mixing e-liquids as simple as possible. No need to figure out PG/VG ratios, no need to dilute Nicotine down from 100mg/ml. Just buy a bottle (or bottles) in whatever strength you vape, add your flavors, shake & vape.

Of course there will always be more advanced users who want to buy the higher concentrations and custom blend their own Nic bases, and that’s fine. But for beginners or manufacturers who are looking to save time, VaporBase can really help them.

If you are concerned about going below 3mg Nic, we can custom tailor the Nic concentration for you so that when you add your flavorings, the final recipe comes out to exactly 3mg/ml. We do charge a small fee for custom blends due to the extra labor, but it’s very reasonably priced.

OK so I wanted to let everyone know what my in lab testing results were.

First off… we made 2 samples. Both 0mg as I do not handle nic very well.

Sample 1: Blueberry Muffin VG Style
20% PG
15% VG Flavoring
65% VG

Shake and vaped er… dripped I guess. Great flavor, bit weak but hell it was shaken and vaped… What the heck were we expecting ha…

Sample 2: Blueberry Muffin PDO Style
15% PDO Flavoring
20% PDO
65% VG

Shake and vaped again… HOLY $^#($ WAYYYYYY too much flavoring. It was so strong we had to dilute it with more VG because the flavor was just too much. I have never had a flavor this stupid strong in my life.

SO from that beta test alone… I can say this… PDO is the greatest thing I have ever played with on the vaping end. It makes me so excited to keep playing and perfecting it.

Well so as you can guess… I approve of what Liquid Labs is doing and my testing (while only one test) has blown my mind to what we can do in the future. VERY excited!

It’s crazy how much the PDO brings out certain flavors isn’t it? I’m not the most advanced mixer, so I haven’t played around with the levels of my basic recipes too much. I was just happy that pretty much anything I made with a PG/VG base tasted just as good, if not better when using VaporBase.

There have been a couple flavors that I felt were a little weaker when using VaporBase though. Cap Sweet Watermelon and Golden Pineapple both needed a boost in concentration to get the flavor I was used to. Not sure why that is, but it was an easy fix so I wasn’t too worried about it.

My all time favorite single flavor quick mix is with Cap’s Double Apple + VaporBase. Literally just squirt some in a unicorn bottle, shake it up, and it tastes amazing every time!

I was amazed! at the flavor on the 24 hour mark. It was almost too strong and slightly overflavored (apparently not a real word per spell checker, but it is now). There will definitely be a learning curve with the PDO, but on my next tester I am going to reduce my normal recipe flavors by 20% to start. The strength and depth of flavor at 24 hours is at least equal to a 2 week steep when mixed with my original 30/70. I’m not sure if it’s because the PDO carries the flavor more intensely, or because it actually steeps faster, but I can see myself saving money in the long run and I will be using reduced percentages to achieve the same results.

Lars, are you planning to make a Vapor Base selection in preferences that can be used in place of VG and PG for base liquid?

That would be awesome if this idea came together! I’ve honestly never even used another calculator besides the one on this site. I’d be stoked if there was a VaporBase option we could all use.

Sorry to hear it didn’t give you the results you were looking for right off the bat. You’re one of the only people I’ve heard from where the PDO in VaporBase doesn’t help their PG sensitivities. I’ll keep an eye on your posts in hopes that you find a solution.

Looks like I’ll be putting Liquid Labs on my favorites list for supplies… oh, guys - side note, avoid the USPS shipping, they delayed my package two days to scan, check, x-ray and then ask me what it was when it arrived on my door. Just saying, save yourself the hassle.

Big thanks for your solid review! This was a fun one to read. That is some BS about USPS getting all weird about your delivery though. This is the first I’ve ever heard of that happening. Hopefully it doesn’t become a trend.

Can we get an official ruling on the product weight per ml? I have been “winging it” and have noticed a bit of a disparity when using the max VG for weight and this has been throwing off my mixing by weight numbers off…

@daath Are there any plans to make any changes to the calculator for VaporBase or maybe a workaround for the time being? I’m not known to be an “OCD” type of person, but I am trying to maximize ingredients and limit waste so I can get the most out of the new ingredients.

Really glad to hear you’re liking it so much! I love the smoothness too, never been a big fan of an artificial “throat hit” from PG.

Yes, VB is a blend of VG and PDO, not just pure PDO. And we are using palm-based VG only.

That’s fine - I notice the disparity on my 120ml batches, it’s not too bad, I just ended up about 3 ml’s extra and wanted to make sure if I had forgotten something along the way.

I too enjoy vaping it plain. I started doing it to clear out flavors from my tanks so I didn’t have to change cotton, but then I caught myself vaping pure VaporBase at 3mg Nic for multiple tanks in a row once I got used to the flavor (or lack thereof).

Yes, the base is a mix of the 1,3 and VG (not sure if palm), that is why the weight falls in between the 2. VG is 1.261 g/ml, and PG is 1.036 g/ml, and PDO is 1.063. Since Vapor Base ratios are proprietary, none of us know exactly how much of each is used. I’m not a mathematician, so not sure if there is a way to figure it out or not?

Not trying to expose any trade secrets here but just for the sake of quelling our curiosity, if the mix came in at around it just under 1.22mg/ml (assuming that’s accurate), and vg=1.261mg/ml, and pdo=1.063mg/ml, the mix should be somewhere around 78% vg and 22% pdo. BUT that’s not accounting for any nicotine. (@MysticRose I didn’t see if you used a base with nicotine or not…) So obviously this isn’t exact but for anyone who was curious, it’s probably close.

Just weighed my Vapor Base - 10 ml came to 11.55g, or 1.155 per ml. This was the 3mg liquid.

Thank you bubba, I’m going to update my notes, I did a prelim weight as well on 10ml, I showed 11.54g, since that’s close enough for me I’m going to update my weights and measures, for some reason I had it at 1.61g/ml - that’s where the disparity lives.

I know right? It’s like a silk stream from the chest, through the throat and the tongue… I am really impressed. Wait until you try it four or five days later… you won’t tell the difference if your flavoring % is where it should be.
