I like peanut butter so I tried a couple single flavor mixes of TFA peanut butter and FLV peanut butter and I didn’t think that either one of them was that great by themselves. So I tried mixing them together and I wasn’t crazy about that either.
The peanut butter flavor profile I’m looking for is like when you’re pretty hungry but the fridge is empty and you’re too lazy to put on a pair of pants and go buy some real food so you just start spooning some Jif or Skippy out of the jar directly into your pie-hole … getting hungry just thinking about this.
I’d mix the two of those together and add a little AP, Nut mix (FA), or Hazelnut to bring up the nuttiness and maybe a tad of marshmallow to sweeten it up a little.
I agree. Maybe mixing together. But if you have the flavors try and add a touch of cookie FA maybe at 0.5%. It won’t overwhelm with cookie flavor but it will boost the nut flavor alittle.
FLV Peanut Butter: (Tested at 1% and 1.25%)
Flavorah Peanut Butter has a very good reputation, and for good reason. Unlike some other peanut butter offerings, this is completely devoid of unnecessary sweetness, and instead plays on the saltiness of peanuts. What’s really interesting about this flavor is how clearly I can taste the red skins of the peanuts. It’s got that roasted peanut aroma and taste that’s hard to find in a lot of peanut flavorings. Too often peanut flavors is boiled down to that “standard nuttiness” profile. Flavorah instead opted for a peanut butter that is more akin to fresh, homemade peanut butter than something you would buy in a store (which are often laden with additional sweeteners and fats).
For the store bought PB flavor you may need to sweeten this up a bit. Try adding Meringue or Marshmallow and see if it helps. Brown Sugar or Maple may add a interesting twist to this natural PB flavor also.
You have me craving a PB recipe now. I’m mixing this up tonight… wish me luck…
I like a touch of vanilla to brighten it, and a bit of caramel for some cooked sweetness. Not candy caramel, I use TFA Caramel Original around 1-1.5% and FA Madagasgar (Classic) Vanilla .5%
Great advice guys, much appreciated. This is what I’m going to start my experimentation with. FYI I don;t have all of these flavors right now. By all means, please let me know if the percentages seem off:
Twisted Nut sounds good… however I only have Chocolate Deutsch (FA) and Double Chocolate (Clear) (TPA). What would you recommend for subbing Chocolate Deutsch % in this?
Chocolate Deutsch (FLV) you mean? That one is more of a chocolate cake flavor. While that may work and produce a very good recipe. it won’t make a Twix candy bar type chocolate flavor. But there is nothing wrong with using it
I would say try it at 1% or less. It is a pretty strong flavor and it will have a coconut flavor to it. But in this recipe, that might be pretty good. Please comment on the recipe and let me know how it turns out!
