Looking for some mixing suggestions

Hey all. Have some questions and looking for some suggestions.

Made a Blood Orange (0mg) for my wife. She like me, also mixes different juices to her tank. There are very few flavors we would actually vape as a single flavor.

The mix was basically my own with Blood Orange, sweetener, and WS-23(TPA) 30%.

She likes the taste (it has steeped for 6 days) but finds the coolness to be a bit much. In the recipe I did 1.38%.

The questions are …how much to lower to make a slight difference? Would 1% be ok, or too low?

Also, I have Polar Blast. Would this be a better choice? Are there different circumstances that you’d use one or the other or both?

Thanks for your time.

Good morning @Oldguynew2diy. One thing that stucks out to me is the mixing of other juices into your tank. My flavor- and vaping experience changed 100% when I bought and used an RDA. HELLVAPE Dead Rabbit

They are cheap- and MUCH less expensive than running a tank system- and not to mention the flavor is about 17 million times better imho.

I can swap out my cotton and flame my coil in 3 minutes if I had to. EZPZ

I hope that helps bro. :metal::metal:

I had looked into those for testing and such. The only issue was they are not available in our area at all. Which means everything including parts and supplies would have to be done online.

With no real direct support I decided to not go that route. Also, definitely not something my wife would enjoy.

I have to agree with D. Get an RDA/RTA online if you have to. Your weariness now is just because it is unknown to you, but proper coiling, cleaning and usage takes 2-3 tries to learn. ALL the information you need is available with a simple google search. “(Insert name) wick and build tutorial”. It’s really as easy as that. In the long term, the costs are so much less than having to buy premade coils all the time, so that’s another reason to look into switching. Now with that out of the way…

I don’t know what device you’re using, but for me, regardless of device, anything over 0.5% WS-23 (30%) is too much. Even 0.5% sometimes confuses my palate. If I absolutely MUST have coolant in a recipe, then I would use 0.15-0.3% of each. Polar Blast at 0.15%, and WS-23 (30%) at 0.15% to start. It’s much simpler to add a drop of each later, than to correct if you used too much. WS-23 is coolant for the inhale, and Polar Blast cools the exhale. Both for a complete all-round cooling.

The thing about cooling is that you build a tolerance quite quickly. That’s why I choose to stay low, and not use it often. This way 0.15% is almost always enough to chill a milkshake or an ice cream. The most I’d use is 0.5% of each, and only in sharp fruity recipes like a watermelon lemonade or lemon sorbet, as an example.

Thanks for the tips. Interesting to know the inhale/exhale use. I will try those %'s on the next batch.

Use the percentages I listed as a starting point. It may very well be too low for you and your wife. But there’s no way to know until you try. You’ve tried 1.38%, which I find to be the higher end of coolant use. Now try 0.15% which is the other end of the spectrum. I’m pretty sure your tastes will land somewhere in between. 0.5% of each is usually enough for most vapers.

You can lower the coolant as much as you’d like. Personally I use Ws-23 around.5-.75% because I don’t like a lot of it. Start low and that way you can always add, but if you use too much to your liking, you can’t take it away. As far as mixing juices in a subohm tank those mass produced coils get trashed easily. If you can’t get an rda, I’d change the coil out if you drastically switch flavor profiles, example, menthol fruit to dessert. The cotton within the coil is wrapped so tight, it holds the flavors in more.

Thanks. For the coolness…I didn’t mind, she just found it more for her…so a balance I guess when mixing hers and mine.

WS-23 is a neutral cooler while Polar Blast is a cooler derived from menthol and therefore adds part of that type of aroma.
Another difference is that Polar Blast requires a steeping time shorter than WS-23.
If your goal is to add a neutral ice effect go for WS-23 otherwise go for Polar Blast if in combination with the cool you also want the menthol effect or if you need a liquid that stabilizes faster.

Where are you from again man?! Canada Eh?! Send me your address- and I’ll mail you one of mine. I have a few I no longer use- and I’ll hook you up with everything you’ll need.

There’s a thread around here someplace for actions just like this… Pay it Forward or something. You can’t say no btw. :metal::metal::metal::metal:

There was a good tutorial on “Coolants” that NaChef from Developed did on the web a few years ago, unfortunately it all has been deleted…
I’m not an expert on coolants but essentially he stated that some coolants give you the cold on the inhale and others more on the exhale. When I do use coolants (and that’s not often for myself) I like to use both WS23 30% and Polar Blast at 0.5 max for each.
As for as RDA vs Tanks, although I use rda’s for testing, I’m probably in the minority here as I get much better saturation and flavor from a SubOhm tank or RTA than I do from a RDA

Good to know. Definitely need to play around with the percentages and the two cooling ones.

Flavour Art BLood orange is much more potent you cauld use FA blood orange 4%
Tpa Nectarine 3-4%
Tpa Sweet peach 4%

Capella or Purilum super sweet 0.5-.75%

.If your shooting for easy 1 fruit flavors you’d want a brand that’s a bit more concentrated and poted like
FA,INW,WF-SC,SSA,FLV,Noms SC

Wonder flavors Tropical Gummy 4%
SSA Summer fruits 3%
Sweetener 0.75%
(Bull City Flavors or NonNoms)
:fire: Or maybe I misread and you meant WS23(30%) i thought u meant Blood orange 30% lol.I generally use WS23 or FA polar blast at 1% as a starting point
