Making Ejuice in Bulk

Hey guys,

Soon will be starting my new online shop in Australia, getting flavor bases from a quality US supplier. Now, I was wondering if any of you use a different method to produce ejuice in bulk more efficiently. We have tested using soap dispensers(obviously never had soap in it), for extracting PG,VG and flavorings, it works really good for us. Would be fun to know about your creative ways for efficiency.

I use a 1 gallon soap dispenser type jug just like this http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/item.aspx?itemid=32926&catid=611 that pumps 1oz per stroke for my vg. I typically mix either 8oz or 16oz per batch of a juice and store in smaller jars with a decent pour lid to go straight into 1oz bottles. only thing i haven’t invested in is a calibrated nicotine dispensing system. a cheap one would run me several hundred bucks and just haven’t made the leap since I don’t have a shop at the moment even though I make enough for everyone to need one.

Nice. I was looking at accurate dispensers, preety expensive. But I was more interested in transfering in small bottles in a more efficient manner than using syringes. Ideas?

I use these squeeze bottles for VG and PG:

I just squeeze directly into the beaker sitting on my scale when mixing up a batch of liquid.

That’s a nice way to do it, how do you find vg using it? Also mate is it better to use a scale? Does that accuracy really make a difference to the taste of the juice?

The VG squeezes out very easily, especially if the nozzle is at the full-open position - nothing like the headache of trying to draw it up in a syringe. The twist cap is like the one you’d find on a bottle of ketchup or mustard.

Regarding using a scale, it is more accurate than mixing by volume, but additional reasons for using one are that it is much faster and easier, with less clean-up afterwards, and no having to eyeball markings on a syringe for precise measurement. When mixing by volume rather than weight, with each syringe you use for various components of a batch of e-liquid, you’re introducing another opportunity for inaccuracy. Also, the smaller the batch you’re making, the more precise you have to be: being off by 0.5 ml of flavoring, for example, in a 10 ml bottle of e-liquid is a much bigger deal than being off by 0.5 ml in a 100 ml bottle. A good scale, such as the one I link to below, is rated as accurate to within +/- 0.03 grams, which is good enough for anyone’s game.

I use this scale:

I can imagine how easy life would be now. I am sold, on the scales and bottle twist caps. Thanks mate, I wish I knew this earlier, the fingers can’t take anymore of drawing vg with syringes :frowning: .

Also remember that the ELR calculator will calculate your ingredient inputs in both ml and grams, so there’s no complicated math equations necessary on your part to get started mixing by weight. I just plug my recipe into the calculator, print it out, and take it with me to the kitchen where I mix. I place my mixing beaker on the scale, press “tare” to set it to 0 grams, add nicotine, set it back to 0, add flavors, set to 0 after each flavor, add PG, set to 0, add VG, and that’s it. I use a handheld milk frother to mix it up really good, then use a little plastic funnel to decant into a bottle, and I’m finished. Trust me, when you start mixing by weight, you’ll never go back to syringes again.

So you don’t steep after using mixing frother?

Oh yes, I definitely steep after mixing. What I meant by saying “I’m finished” is that I’m finished with the active part of mixing. The steeping then follows, along with a daily shake or two. I didn’t mean to suggest that this method results in instant “shake and vape” recipes!

thanks mate, purchased my scale, and twist cap bottles, now the wait begins :frowning:

@VapingKrakenVK That’s great! Remember you can search this site for “scale”, “mixing by weight”, etc., and there’s tons of advice here on the subject (and a LOT of people here have been converted to mixing by weight through these discussions - including me). Let me know if you have any questions once you get your setup. The whole thing really is very simple and straightforward, though. If you’re like me and many other folks here, you’ll be asking yourself, "why didn’t I try this sooner?"

@VapingKrakenVK By the way, one caution with the scale. Be sure you have the weight set to grams before you begin. Once I inadvertently had it set to ounces instead; needless to say, that didn’t work out.

Also, if you mix in a container other than the bottle you’re going to store it in (I use a plastic beaker so I can use the frother before decanting), you’ll need a little plastic funnel. If you need one, private message me with your name and address, and I’ll send you a few. (Mine came in a pack of 12, which is way more than I need.)

Thanks for the offer, but unfortunately I live in Australia, I will look some funnels up shouldnt be a problem. BTW when you pour through funnel I assume that some liquid would reside on the funnel, does it matter to lose that much? does it make a difference in flavor at all of the end product?

I use a set of small stainless funnels suggested by Amazon. I love them. I keep a small jar of vodka at my station. I’ll rinse the funnel in vodka, shake dry, pour into bottles. I just always remember to rinse with vodka before doing anything that might cross contaminate the juice. I keep using the same vodka until it starts to get a little funky smelling. I use the cheapest vodka I can find. So far it’s been nothing at all to have a couple of drops in a 30ml bottle.

I use the funnel only to decant the final product from my mixing beaker into the bottle, having already mixed it with the frother, so it doesn’t matter at all if a little bit (i.e., a drop) stays in the funnel - all that would do is subtract very slightly from the total volume, which has nothing to do with the flavor. If you’re using a funnel to add ingredients directly into the bottle, on the other hand, I would do it in this order: the flavoring(s) first, then the nicotine to make sure all the flavoring gets from the funnel to the bottle, then the VG, to make sure all the nicotine gets into the bottle, then finally the PG to sort of “wash everything out”, as it’s thinner than the VG. Let the funnel sit in the bottle for a few minutes, and all that should remain in the funnel is just the slightest coating inside, which is no big deal.

Like @therabidweasel, I use vodka as a cleaner, but I just pour a little bit of vodka in my cleaning container (a plastic bowl), put my beaker, funnel, and twist caps in it when I’m done mixing, top it off with hot water, and let it sit for a while, then rinse everything with more hot water and let it dry overnight. No vodka ends up in my e-liquid because it’s not involved in the mixing process.

Small funnels, and if you’re interested, frothers, are available on Amazon. You want to make sure the diameter of the spout end of the funnel is no larger than about 1/4 inch (6.4 mm), so it will fit into your bottle, like these:

The frothers I’m talking about are like this one:

Happy Mixing, and let me know how everything turns out.
