Mixing Help

Hello Everyone,
I just recently started mixing my own juice and I am having a little bit of trouble. I have bought about 15 or so flavors from TFP and wanted to start out easy. (so I thought) I wanted to made a wintergreen cause that is what I was mainly buying from the local shop. I am running a Kanger
subtank with a .7 ohm build. I started with a 70/30 and the throat hit almost killed me, knocked
it down to a 80/20 and it was still pretty bad. The liquid I am buying is supposed to be 50/50
so it is not making sence to me if anyone has any ideas please let me know.
Thank You

What are the percentages of flavor and Nic content in your mix?

I am using 24mg base nic and mixing to 5 mg and 15% wintergreen flavor.

15% sounds like a lot! I’d try doing around 8% and see how it goes… You could just try to dilute what you have with 50% more flavorless 5mg base, then you have 7.5%…

You do mean, TPA, right?

Are you letting the juice sit for a week? When i make heavy menthol/ice mixes i find they require about a week to mellow out.

What brand nicotine are you using? It makes a HUGE difference.

My favorite ice mix is:

10% Extreme Ice (Flavor West)
3% Menthol (Any Brand)
2% Koolada (Any Brand)

Very potent and even more so when dripping. I cant vape this right away, it requires at least a week in the curing box before it is vapable.

Good idea @daath! Yeah, don’t trash a mix until you have to. I have found some TPA Flavors to need lower percentage levels in a mix to be vapable. Tiramisu, for example, no more than 2 or 3 % in the mix or its waaaaaaay too much. TPA ginger ale is the same way; a little bit will do. Perhaps wintergreen is the same way???

I just like the really good flavor, I will try and knock the flavor down the will get rid of some of the pg right…? Yeah I ment TPA… Sorry about that.
That is a really good idea thou. Thank You

That was pretty much shake and vape, I didn’t know if the wintergreen needed some steep time.I will remix it with a lower the flavor and let it chill for a bit. WOW 2% that is really lean, must be super strong.

I am using Wizard labs Pg/Vg, Nic and some of there flavors.

Honestly i wont vape anything with their nicotine in it, it is very peppery to me. If it isnt for you, some people dont get the peppery bite, then thats awesome. If you do there are some better companies out there that produce nicotine.

The recipe i posted is an all in one bottle recipe, it is powerful stuff when dripping at .3ohms. When i used tanks all the time i made it at 25% flavoring.

Where do you get your nic from…?
Cause that is exactly what you described, very pepper like. I thought it didnt matter where it came from as long it was usp…?

Well no nic is created equal but the two best, im my opinion, are NudeNicotine and Vaperstek

These two are very pure with no taste what so ever. Personally i buy from Vaperstek. I have a bottle coming from: http://www.carolinaxtract.com
I purchased it because they actually produce their own extracts and can pinpoint where the tobacco came from. Looking forward to trying it but so far Vaperstek has been my go to.

I thought they where all the same, but I understand that they are not. It is just like motor oil, they are not all the same even thou people think they are. Maybe I should try a different type. Wooo doggie the carolinaxtract stuff is spendy… Luckily i only got a small bottle. Thank you for the info.

Yeah it is, hehe. Looking forward to trying it, should be here any day now. Even different brand of VG have slightly different tastes. I use Essential Depot brand, it is sweet and light and outside of the sweet has no flavor. I dont use PG so i cannot comment on it.

Vaperstek is EU sourced so no GMO’s used in its manufacturing, that GMO thing doesnt matter to me but it does to some…

Happy to pass along some knowledge. Have any other questions post them, of all the resources this place is one of the most helpful.

Ive been meaning to mention this, Jim. Of all the recipes i have looked at yours are the most unique using ingredients that i would never consider mixing. I rarely mix up other peoples recipes but i have some new ingredients on my next order list so i can try some of yours. Very creative and nicely done!

Thanks @Ken_O_Where; I’ve been remiss in putting notes in all of my recipes, but I do try. I do like to experiment with flavor pairings. Some mixes are great and others wind up going down the drain. As I have said before, I like a strong flavored Vape. Some of my mixes may be way too potent for some folks. I trust that seasoned mixers can look at a recipe and make judgement calls as to what percentages might need adjustment for their taste buds.

Great advice from the experts. I’m in Texas, so haven’t had experience with the Vaperstek, but I have bought good nic from nudenic. My latest purchase was from heartland and it is very good as well. I only buy VG based nic though, so that might make a difference too. My worst experiences so far with nic have been from wizard and from e-liq.com … grrrrrr… It’s infuriating to pay good money for old/peppery nicotine!

was browsing through and I see everyones already suggest the main fixes, awesome! I just wanted to chime in with adding other softer mints may help as well like spearmint for example and adding some vanilla for extra smoothness with some koolda…very awesome in a tank.

as for the peppery nic I know the smell/taste. best thing to do to abolish that from the get go is to use 100mg nic in 100% vg solution I DONT RECCOMEND THIS FOR BEGGINERS. unless you are confident in your measurements with this nic base, please do not try it, you can put .2 mls over and make an extra strong nic juice wihout realizing it.with that said, its easy to work with if you have the proper luer lock needle and nitrile gloves and googles.yes googles. you dont want that crap spraying in your eyes. anyways, you rarely go over 1ml for recipes leaving your bottle room for more vgbase and flavors…too high of a pg with FRESH flavors will always smack the throat no matter what unless you cut it, which was covered i believe. loll anyways hope this helped in some way
