Navy ban on e-cigs

I found this on my news feed.

Either Navy personnel are all running unregulated mech mods and don’t know Ohm’s law or those in command are over-hyping something.

at least they had the reason right in regards to the explosions from batteries rather than blaming vaping and the device , if they dont allow smoking i could see this not being a problem , even if they do allow smoking and their concern is the ignorance of the sailors not caring for the batteries properly i could see that as well im sure on a ship like those an exploding battery can possibly be dangerous , the sad thing is a handful of dumbasses make us all look bad

Well that’s disturbing news.

I was in the Navy for 20 years in the mid 90s near the end of my career they stopped smoking on board ships in port we had to go on the pier to smoke and at sea there was designated smoking area topside so this doesn’t surprise me

What is interesting from that article was the point where from 2009 - 2016 (about 7 years) there were 160 reports total… from everybody… about 20 a year. While “the Navy” had 15 ALL BY ITSELF in about 7 months, sounds like a bunch of bs to me. Especially when you consider that the Navies accounts would also be part of those listed by the FDA.
I know for a fact (okay I don’t know for a fact, but I really really believe) that if there were that many explosions or events going on in the Navy by vape devices, it would have been in the news, and rammed down everyone face the evils of vape devices.

I hated going into smoke locations on the ship… especially after GQ drills when EVERYONE tried to hit the spots at the same time.

Just another reason to get out.

Not as bad as someone chucking a cigarette in an air vent and the fire rushing through. Had that happen 7 times in one deployment.

No offense, but it is attitudes like that that PISS me off to no end. Well at least they gave a reason. The reason is that they are just quick to get rid of something because they do not know what it is. The higher ups are uneducated and do not get it. It is people with that attitude that will kill vaping as a whole. It is just my opinion. I also know opinions are like assholes, everyone has one.

Not trying to start something here it is just a pet peeve.

@Skullblade789 if you feel the need to lecture and quote something than at least quote what is actually said " at least they give a reason " isnt even. close to what i said , what you just did was no different than the media taking parts of what someone says and turn it around
