Newbie needs help wit watermelon ice!

Hey guys, my name is nick. I am new here, and have received my first order of supplies to make my own. I got. 50/50 vg/ph base (wish i would have gotten higher vg to account for the flavoring, but i got myself some plain vg to boost its vg content), TFA candy watermelon, tfa honeydew, koolada, and strawberry ripe.

I proceeded to try to make a watermelon ice with the candy watermelon and honeydew with a pinch of koolada and it tastes like… shit. Harsh shit. I guess i shouldn’t say that because it doesn’t taste like ANYTHING, but you get the point. My memory is horrible but i believe the candy watermelon and honeydew were at about 1-1.5% each, and koolada was 1% as well.

I am ordering some more stuff from bull city flavors to try to make something decent, and in my cart i have 10ml ws-23, FA watermelon flavor, SSA double watermelon, TFA peppermint (for a separate peppermint recipe of course), TFA strawberry splash, and some sucralose. Can i make something decent with these?

As mentioned above i will be attempting a peppermint recipe, as well as a strawberry ice/strawmelon ice for the wife.

H E L P!!!

i recommend FLV wild melon and loranns watermelon
ws-23 is generally better than koolada which is usually ws-5 i believe

I just looked at it. It says it has a little bit of cantaloupe in the flavor profile, i just want watermelon. Is the cantaloupe flavor strong?

IIRC its more honeydew, then some cantoloupe and watermelon in that order.

you can add a watermelon so cantaloupe will be last in line
plus its one of the best melon flavors i have tried

Its in my cart, hopefully its a banger. I dont know if you have ever tried Oxbar disposables but they have a flavor called sunset watermelon that is so fuckng good, it kinda tastes like what youre describing.

You will need to up you flavour percentages, 1.5% of each is no where near enough, maybe
5% (tpa) “watermelon candy”
3% (ssa) “double watermelon”
1.5-3% (tpa) “honeydew” depending on how much “honeydew” you want.
“Ws 23” is a better coolant than “koolada” but start at 2 drops per 10 mils and taste the juice on the back of your hand as you mixing to get a general idea of the flavours and strength.
You could add “strawberry splash” if you wanted a little strawberry, recommended is 3%, but start low and increase a little at a time, tasting as you go.
Use the recipe site to read people’s flavour reviews and recommended flavour percentages.

For a simple Watermelon Ice with TPA Candy Watermelon, SSA Watermelon and Coolant. I would definitely take the TPA Candy Watermelon to 8-10% as it’s sweet and potent, but the coolant will diminish its flavor. Then use the more natural SSA Watermelon @ 2-3% to bring out the sweet melon and use whatever coolant you want (ws23 or koolada) starting @ .75-1%.

So i think i was mistaken on what i said my percentages were, i am pretty sure that i divided the total of the three juices (honeydew, tfa watermelon candy, and koolada) to equal 20% of the total volume. So they each would have been somewhere around 6.65% give or take. But i didnt give it time to steep when i tried it initially.

If you are correct that u you used each at 6.65% each then the reason you couldn’t taste anything is that koolada at 6.65 would have muted everything that you mixed with it. Always start low with coolants .50-1% as they tend to mute other flavors (especially fruits).
What are you running for vaping (pod/subohm)? Type of mod/pod & coil resistance is a large factor in recipe development and final recipe satisfaction.

And that’s why you should create your mix as a recipe and keep notes. That 20% flavor …, no idea who would ever suggest that as every flavor has it’s own range, plus they don’t all have the same potency.

As youre totally new to mixing id advise searching the recipie side for something that appeals that is tried and tested first so you can get used to the whole mixing process before trying to design your own from scratch.

Once youve found a recipie or two that you like then make sure to have plenty mixed up to fall back on while you experiment with other mixes.

I asked google lmao. Stupid, i know. But to be fair, Gemini came back with what appeared to be a legit recipe. But when i ask the same question now i get different results and no, i did not write it down. I looked a little deeper and found you guys, luckily i only did a couple 10ml samples so far.

Thank you everyone for the advice. I just got one making a 10ml sample batch using the flavorings that i have on hand. I did 1.2ml candy watermelon, 0.8ml honeydew, and 0.1ml of koolada, then added 2.1ml of VG, and then added my 50/50 nicotine base. Its now sitting in a coffee mug of warm water for 30 minutes and after that i will shake the shit out of it. I made a makeshift bottle holder to go on a mini sawzall that i have lol.

I also ordered some other flavorings to hopefully be able to make an existing recipe, and i will go from there.

Rule of thumb is the lower the wattage + the higher the ohms the recipe requires higher flavor percentage.
