Nic shots how do you make it?

Yep. My bad. My pre set nic was at 2% hence the 1.44gm. Thanks

wait? if you had 50.0ml of 2.0mg liquid, and you added just 0.72ml of 72.0mg liquid the result would be 50.723ml of 3.00mg liquid.
39.4pg/60.6vg

Nicotine juice 72 mg (100% PG) 2.50ml 2.59 Grams
PG dilutant 1.50ml 1.56 Grams
VG dilutant 6.00ml 7.57 Grams

This should keep the same ratio (40/60 vg) and make the full 60ml final amount

Since I don’t see anybody putting out the logic behind it, just blurting out the numbers, this is the way I calculate the volume:

3mg nic = 1/24th of your 72mg nic (or 72mg/3mg=24)

so 1/24th of your total volume of e-liquid will be your 72mg/ml nicotine
meaning 23/24th will be the rest of your liquid, or your 50ml bought juice

Then the amount of nicotine that you need to add to your juice is
50ml / 23 = 2.17ml

To calculate this in weight… (see https://www.liquidbarn.com/pages/calculating-the-specific-gravity-of-your-nicotine-solution)
You’ll need to know the specific gravity of your nicotine solution first, which you stated was PG based.
So specific gravity of PG: 1.038mg/ml
And specific gravity of pure nicotine: 1.01mg/ml
72mg/ml nicotine solution means 7.2% nicotine and 92.8% PG.

Then following the calculation example on the liquid barn site:
7.2ml * 1.01mg/ml = 7.272mg
92.8ml * 1.038mg/ml = 96.3264mg
(7.272mg+96.3264mg) / 100ml = 1.036mg/ml

When you know that, it’s easy to calculate the weight of your nicotine shot:
2.17ml * 1.036mg/ml = 2.25mg

It’s easy to use Cosmic Truth’s sheet (I do as well), but it’s always good to know the logic behind it in case you need it.

Damit, I thought I had it all figured out, then I read your post and the logic has me so confused I don’t think I can accurately mix a drink… and I been making chocolate milk for years!

Yep. My recipe calculator was set to 2mg nic as default. Changed it to 3mg and then just worked out the difference in pg/vg to make 10ml. Came up with the same as you. Thanks.

Happy to help.

Thanks for this explanation, finally I’m not confused anymore

Garbage in, garbage out? I guess i’m confused from the start what you had and what you were looking for. And now whats the correct asnsw… nm

In the UK we can not buy any juice with nicotine in bottles bigger than 10ml so companies keep the nicotine out and sell 50ml (or bigger) bottles that you would add a nicotine shot.
Most places I have seen sell the nicotine shots as an extra, flavours+base= £15, nic shot=£2 (just an example)
As @Solace71 already has some nicotine, he/she saved £2 and wanted to know how to make a 10ml 40/60VG 18mg nic shot out of his 72mg nicotine.

I was confused from the start, calculating volumetric calculations baffle me, I’ll reread the thread and maybe make sense of it some other time.

Then on top of all the variables I had wrong from the start, Im now sidetracked to look up how many USD a pound is worth, then I get to wondering what happened to EURO’s.

But I didn’t realise we were thing about PG/VG too :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I do agree with you that the first post was a little confusing, I got what was meant from the title of the topic and his/her second post.

I’ll now go back to lurking in the background

Mee tooo

note to self: Read post title as part of overall post.

Count me in with the confused.

I guess if you want everything to be 100% perfect, it’s the way to go but I don’t really see the point. If you just add the 2.17ml (or 2.25g) nic, you’re not going to offset your PG/VG ratio in a noticeable way, and adding extra PG/VG is going to dilute your flavors more.

My calculation logic works as well to dilute your 72mg nic into 18mg nic shots.
So you dilute your nic by 72/18=4
so
1/4th of 10ml nic base ~ 2.5ml PG+nic
3/4th of 10ml base liquids = 7.5ml of which 6ml VG (60% of your 10ml) and 1.5ml PG (to top up from the 2.5ml of your nic PG)

Gravity calculations as above.

I think the logic is lost. That’s why I use a calculator. Meep merp moop.

Hi guys,
I just want to check that I’ve got this right as it’s the first time I’ve bought short fill juice, I usually mix my own from scratch or buy ready made juice with nic.
I have 2x80ml short fill 0mg juice that I need to add nic to and end up with 200ml of juice.
Am I correct that if I want to end up with 200ml of 1.5mg nic juice that I need to add 7.5ml 48mg nic and 32.5ml VG.
I’m pretty sure I’ve calculated this correctly, but want to be 100% sure before I start.

So you want to end up with 200ml of liquid, then your nic formula is
Total nic needed: (1.5mg/ml /48mg/ml)*200ml = 6.25ml
Total VG to add: (200ml-6.25ml)-160ml=33.75ml

No way do I need that much VG, the short fill juice is already 160ml, I just need to add a total of 40ml, which will be nic to make the whole 200ml 1.5mg and the rest of the 40ml is VG.
Your calculation is correct if I’m starting from scratch, without the 160ml of 0mg nic juice that I already have.

200ml - 160ml = 40ml (or 4 nic shot bottles)
so if you’re adding 6.25ml nic … then you remain with 33.75ml

48mg/ml is a lot 3 times stronger than the 18mg/ml TPD nic shots
Plus, you don’t want the average 3 or 6mg, just 1.5mg … so yeah… a lot of vg to add
You can leave it out to have an extra strong tasting liquid too

My apologies, you are correct, thank you.
