Nicotine change

Hi There, I’m still unsure about how nicotine / VG or PG percentages may affect taste and/or throat hit. When I purchased a DIY starter kit from NR I selected my nicotine at 48mg 100 % VG. I’ve been making some juice and learning what I like and what I don’t. I’m going to need to reorder some nicotine soon and I’m thinking I’d like to change from 100 % VG to perhaps PG. The reason for the change from VG to PG is only because my old house is rather cold in these Iowa winters and I feel I need warm up the nicotine/VG in order to shake it well enough to be sure it’s well blended. I’m thinking to order 100mg in 100%PG base.
All that said, am I right to assume that the E- recipe calculator will make the necessary changes to the mix so that this change will not effect the recipes that like in any way? I make my juice nic strength at 6.
I’m sure this has been discussed here before and I did try to find the answer to my question I found some good information that makes me think my assumption is correct but I just want to make sure. Thank you.

Flavours are stronger with more PG the calculator does not take this into effect if adapting someone lses recipe. That’s something you’ll have to work out yourself. For me if going from say a 30/70 mix to 50/50 we quote normally PG first so PG/VG I would decrease the flavours by say 15-20% roughly. You won’t be going 100% most likely on either. Especially since most flavours are PG based so you can;t avoid that. Make up a 30/70, 60/40 and 50/50 and see what you prefer. I’m finding I get indigestion with 50/50 and am slowly moving to 30/70 and it seems the most common round here. PG is alkaline so the less I have the better for me. Though I prefer the throat hit of PG. All a balancing act. Hope that gives you enough guidance.

@Blane Hi. When you build your recipes just change the nic strength to 100 and PG Content of Nicotine to 100. The calculator will make all the proper adjustments.

Also, before clicking save on the recipe check the box for Set these base values as default. That way whenever you click Create Recipe it will already be set.

My apologies you were talking about your nic base. I did not read your post properly I thought you were talking about the whole mix. My post stands for the whole recipe but what he said for nic.

This applies too - but only if the adapted recipe is Max VG (the max vg box checked). It will not apply your default settings when adapting a max vg recipe. However, if you uncheck that box after choosing to adapt, then your defaults are automatically apply.

Your recipes won’t be affected in any way unless you’ve been using max vg, in which case the amount of PG in your mixes will increase by whatever amount of the PG Nic base you’re using.

Very good I thought that was how it would work. That calculator is fantastic, I could never do this without it. Thank you for responding. BTW, I love your Strawberry CheeseCakeShake thank you for sharing that. :yum:

5% Distilled Water thins it right out… and 1% Vodka doesn’t hurt either

Yes! and bottom line… you don’t need PG  @Blane
