Non-tobacco smoke

Ok, so I have been playing with “darker” flavors with my custards, bourbon flavors mostly. What I wanna try now is a Smokey woody type flavor but I don’t want any tobacco notes with it. From the research I have done it seems like FA black fire might be what I’m looking for, but only saw notes about using it to accent other tobaccos. Maybe that mixed with fa oak wood? I need some of you tobacco people that also like custard to help me out!

Hmm, Smoked Butterscotch FLV may be slightly more tame than FA Black Fire. Black Fire is kind of similar to what Liquid Smoke tastes like, almost mesquite-like. I have used it S’more’s recipes (diluted), but it was still a bit more powerful than I cared for.

Hey Oak Milk FE is pretty nice, really smooth with a sweet, oaky finish. It’s not a combustion or smokey flavor, but darn good with Custards.

That’s what I had read, I was thinking black fire at super low percentages, like .5 or below maybe even make a dilution. I just don’t know, but what I wanna replicate would be like custard cooked over a fire lol it might be terrible but it sounds good in my head. Have you used black fire? Does it have any distinctive tobacco flavor or is it just the smokiness?

Is the smoked butterscotch more dominant towards smokiness or butterscotch?

I think you’re headed in the right direction you could use FA Oak wood and could use at lower percentages a toasted almond per say to help sweeten the oaky- woody finish but still have the custard as the backbone of the juice with the woody note and almond being the top notes ? I don’t mind tobaccos most have a very nice leafy woody earthy tone to them and not necessarily the ashy burnt effect one may think of.

AFA Black Fire it is like @Silhouette states more burnt note mesquite and as I’ve read it is even strong on a dilution. Maybe you’d do well with some marshmallow notes there and add a chocolate for the smores. JK

S’mores custard might be in the works lol I want the wood notes and there are lots of good flavor notes for those, but getting that cooked over a fire Smokey note is where I’m hitting a dead end with research. Smoked custard just sounds so good in my head lol do you know of any other smoke flavors that aren’t as aggressive as black fire?

If you do want to try black fire fa, try it at 0.25% first. It’s very up front taste (is this the word? Strong maybe?). Mixed with red oak tpa at 2-2.5% it’s not bad, smokey camp fire y taste.

Totes thought this was gonna be about the 420 kind of non-tobacco smoke at first glance…

Nobody had mentioned tpa toasted marshmallow yet! I like that together with fa oak wood for a toasty campfire taste.

Thanks for the info! That makes it a must have for any Texan IMO!

Later on I thought toasted marshmallows would have been a better suggestion than toasted almond like I’d mentioned…both would be stellar…the sweetness in both could possibly tamp down the burnt taste from black fire FA… don’t put juice on your wick and you can have black fire taste all on your own lol JK

@Fishaddict420 let me do some single flavor testing with Smoked Butterscotch as off the bottle is smells smoky but sweet and this time I don’t get a b-b-q vibe to it. This may be a good additive along with @VapeyMama suggesting the toasted marshmallow.

That’ll give me enough time for it to steep a lil !

Smoked Butterscotch FLV
I just whipped a 10 ml batch at 2% Single Flavor and on SnV I did a finger test and man is this flavor sweet with a light hint of smokiness on the trail. Now I must admit I mix max Vg and it is a sweeter Vg at that so a lot of it’s sweetness can be coming from the VG this early but with a weeks time of steeping things can take on a different taste…I personally like to steep all my juices for 30 days yeah I’m crazy. Anyways, I’ll get back to you or you remind me is better lol not kidden.

Thank you very much! I’ll definitely remind you, and I usually steep for around a month too, but I also sample a lot before then lol

That’s the best way to do it IMO! Quite often you can get some pretty interesting info that way!

I think if you want a non tobacco that has a smokey edge to it then FLV’s Smoked Butterscotch is a dead ringer !

Man could I see this in the s’mores category, the custards and yes very much tobacco -ry4 ish with light notes of caramel and vanilla behind the butterscotch.

Awesome! I was just about to remind you lol I’ll be putting that in my next order along with toasted marshmallow, black fire, and Oakwood:) between that and the real flavors sample deal recently I’ll be vaping single flavor tests for a while lol
