Lol! That’s funny!! Haha!
Well, lemme search under my desk and dig out the box (pushing aside overly inquisitive cat) and find it for you.
TBH, I really have three bottles. IIRC, the first bottle was bought during my first attempt at DIY, which was in 2016. Very few of those flavors were even opened. Do you think they’d be any good? Like the current ones, they’ve been stored in a box. LOL My storage techniques haven’t altered much over the years!
I’m running into a vaguely similar problem w/ TFA and their Maples. I’ve got a Maple on my Shopping List, but like @Sprkslfly noted, vendors aren’t all that great when differentiating between what they’re selling. I’m not even sure how many different Maples that TFA has. I’ve got a Maple Syrup and a Maple Flavor (Natural) in my Stash. I haven’t the faintest if either of those are what I first added to my cart based on what was in a recipe.
She follows me around like a nagging fishwife.
Noshit.
I keep asking her, “Haven’t you got someone else to go supervise?” yet every time I turn around here she is - comin’ up the hall towards me again.
She likes you, Guido
Eh, no worries. My guess on an unopened bottle of AP would be that it’s okay.
I think the organizing is an ongoing phenomenon…for the rest of your life …may as well sit back and relax. You’ll get there. Don’t make the same mistake I did and buy a crap load of flavors just because they sounded good. I have way too many I don’t use and they will either age out or I’ll find a donee. Mof, if you mention what you’re interested in I just might have it. Let me know.
Easy to solve (usually)!
Go to the manufacturer’s site (TFA in this case) and do a search…
Which yields the following (3) flavors:
Do take note (on TFA especially) that your search results may include things that ARE NOT SAFE to vape (ie: oils, etc). Because they also supply other industries, such as essential oils, soaps, fragrances, etc.
I got REAL maple!
It’s not just the AP that’s unopened. It’s the majority of the flavors that I bought back then. TBH, I’m not sure how many I’ve got.
Ding, ding, ding! That’s what I did back then, at least partially. I found a copy of my invoice and looked through it to see if I had, in fact, bought AP back then.
There are even more duplicates of what I bought recently. (I won’t be lacking for CAP Sweet Strawberry if unopened bottles from 2016 really are ok to use). But damn, that are a LOT of flavors that made me go WTF? I definitely bought some things based on how they sounded or were described.
But it would be helpful to know if the 2016 flavors are usable, since I saw one of them is in my shopping cart. It’s TFA’s Pie Crust. There may be others, but I only did a quick scan of the invoice. (I don’t know if it makes any difference, but they’re from Wizard Labs, so everything is in glass bottles, not plastic).
One thing I can’t seem to find is FA’s Milk. Do they still make it? I’m also wanting FE’s Sweet Rice, but I guess I’ll have to get that directly from them. I keep comparing prices, and Flavor Jungle loses out - plus they don’t carry FLV? (One thing I’m sure you don’t have is DIYFS Holy Vanilla. I was just reading yesterday on acceptable substitutions. I should have gotten v2 from River Supply with my last order, but I didn’t realize v1 no longer existed).
You’ll need to buy that overseas at Chef’s Flavours or Nom Nomz, both UK. Tip: The FA will be pricey so use Chef’s own rebranding called Chef’s Choice. I do actually have the OG DIYFS Holy Vanilla and I hope I use it up before it ages. It’s a 30 ml bottle.
Check out the resource page. There is a list of vendors and any discounts they offer with the ELRECIPES code.
ETA: the reason for FA Milk, FA Premium Custard and some others is that they contain ingredients not allowed to be sold in N. America. You know, the bad stuff that makes your juice taste good, lol.
@FL_Vaper I’ve heard it said that some brands hang in there longer than others, for instance, FA seems to have a good shelf life. @fidalgo_vapes says that all his flavors stay good indefinitely when refrigerated at around 50F. Fidalgo, maybe you can confirm the temp for me.
Yes 50f …this is the temp my fridge is at
It’s the Flavor Creative line that is rebottled FA.
The only Con from using a refrigerator is that a handful of flavor crystallize …Its only maybe 6 tops lol and they go back to liquid form after a bit …
I wish I’d known FA Milk was another one I’d have to get overseas. I already got the Custard Premium a few months ago.
You definitely need to do your research on flavors in general. Likely the majority of the flavors that you did purchase are still used in newer recipes as well. Yeah, the issue with some of the older recipes are that they are out dated and sometimes flavor companies will reformulate flavors without notice to customers. INW is famous for that. Your best bet is to make 10 ml testers of every recipe that you make so you don’t wind up with recipes that you hate. A wonderful way to learn to use your flavors is to utilize shows like Noted on YouTube where they do a show on each flavor profile and lots of amazing tips.
Thx natbone for saving the day! I knew I was off about that but couldn’t remember what it was exactly. Memory is shot to hell lately.
Fresh Milk (VTA) is not a bad sub for that, imo.
No problem in my book. Thx for the tip, fidalgo.
