Only 2 flavors...?

So i tried some recipes i found on the site here, used lower % etc. , i experimented with some myself. And i have come to the conclusion that recepies with more then 2 flavors, i dont like them. Flavors mute each other and its just to much. If i try mixing only 2 flavors, its very tasteful to vape. so am i the only one who dislike recipes with lots of different flavors? just curious

Well first off @JD140, the ā€œrightā€ mixes, are the ones YOU like !!!

I personally don’t mind more complex, layered mixes, but you can be right that TOO many flavors can turn into a mish mosh.

i do this all the time i even just vape single flavours, and enjoy that alot. whenever you add you also take somethincg away

i do find complex recipes tend to mute each other but i have learned which flavors work well for me where this problem is minimiZed.

Sometimes, sometimes not… it all depends on the recipe imo

I agree with you in concept but not in implementation. I think we both like the same thing - juice without multiple ā€œflavor profilesā€ competing with each other. We’re the type that prefers simple pepperoni pizza over a supreme with everything on it.

But there’s a difference between ā€œflavor profilesā€ and ā€œflavor concentratesā€. Sometimes people use multiple ā€œconcentratesā€ with the same ā€œprofileā€ to achieve a more well rounded and complete flavor profile. And some concentrates blend multiple flavor profiles (Pina Colada - Smore - Lemon Meringue Pie). So counting/limiting juice by the number of concentrates used doesn’t get you where you want to go.

Basically if two flavor mixes are what you enjoy do it. That’s what DIY is all about!

Personally my recipes, I vape like I cook. How boring life would be if I couldn’t add spices to tomato’s out of the garden. If I make a salad a little salt and pepper give more flavor to that tomato. If I want to turn that tomato in to sauce to put on pasta I’ll add basil some oregano and a few other Italian spices. Maybe some Parmesan, maybe a little Romano cheese. Some garlic.Don’t forget the flour eggy taste of the pasta it’s self. Some butter. Some of the ingredients are a pinch or a handful. It’s a balance of ingredients so one flavor doesn’t overwhelm another in the sauce. It takes a lot of work and experience making that sauce to get it to taste like I want it. Today I can do it in my sleep because I have done it so many times after getting the recipe hammered out. It took me six years of mixing before bottle flavors began working like I cook.
All I can suggest to you today is make nothing more than 10 to 15 ml recipes of something you might like. Let those recipes steep at least three weeks before you taste them. If you liked the recipes, follow that mixer on the recipe side of ELR. Study that mixers pattern (what flavor’s work together) . Good luck to going forward.

You can normally tell if people can cook by some of there vape recipes. They understand how flavours work together, layering flavours and seasoning. I like (cap) ā€œfunnel cakeā€ at 4% with 1% (Flv) "cream, only 2 flavours. I’m trying now to use max 6 flavours. Some recipes require more though. Use good flavours and let the flavours speak for themselves.

Remember your a beginner! Slow yourself down and not be looking for 6 flavor or any number specific recipe. Go over to the recipe side and find your favorite profile ( Fruits, bakery, or so on. Find some recipes in your favor profile favorite. Make maybe 3 recipes. That’s only 30ml to 45ml of waste if you don’t like any of them. Sometimes you got to kiss alot of frogs before you find your prince/princess. Don’t give up your 2 flavor recipes. You will need to be vaping something till you can learn how/what to layer. Remember why you are vaping in the first place. To stay off those cigs.

This all depends on what device you are using as well. Most simple recipes are better in pod systems. The smaller coil and chamber can only pick up so much detail. Drippers are better for picking up all the nuances in these more complex recipes. Everyone’s different, but if it works for you that’s awesome. Lots of great simple recipes can be made with 2 flavors. All about picking two bangers that play well together. One of my favorite recipes is a 2 flavor. Ohossoho by the juice fairy. I use it in a Caliburn at work when I can’t be blowing huge plumes everywhere.

That’s the beauty of DIY, make your juice to your liking. laying can be challenging for sure and knowing what flavors will mute each other is important.

Now imagine if Hon Lik was an idiot - We’d still be stuck with two flavors: tobacco & menthol

Your sentence made me consider our government.
In Australia legally we are stuck with three flavours.

Tobacco
Mint
Menthol.

And to top that off in my state and one more I think you also need a prescription to be able to even get them.

I’m still, and constantly in awe of that stupidity @Gazza7.

That dumb. Are you talking about pre made liquids in shops?

The situation over here is extremely dumb!

There is no such thing as a vape shop as they were closed down over a year ago now. It does differ a little between different states but basically you can only legally buy anything vape related from a chemist. I live in Western Australia and we also require a prescription to do that.
Therefore for me to legally buy a complete vaping device I would need to first obtain a prescription and then actually try to find a chemist that stocks or even is willing and able to access anything and then pay a fortune for a crappie pod system with either tobacco, mint or menthol flavoured disposable pods. I haven’t done much research on what’s actually available but I think the laws were recently changed to tighten it a bit more in that anything that is legally sold in a chemist has to be TGA approved, therefore reducing the choice even further.

I believe you can do all of this online but I haven’t looked into it too much. We can still buy concentrates from a couple of online businesses but absolutely no vaping devices of any description.

The government have created an absolute shit show as disposables are available easily from illegal ā€˜gift’ shops but obviously they’re completely unregulated so pot luck what’s actually in them. Our tobacco is among the most expensive in the world so therefore illicit tobacco is also easily available for about 1/3 rd less than what it costs legally. Most smokers can’t afford the extortionate taxes so obviously choose black market tobacco which in turn creates turf wars between the criminal gangs and firebombings of shops. I know one innocent lady was killed by mistake but I do believe someone else was too.

The government was warned this would happen but still continue to ignore the fact that prohibition and very high taxes just don’t work.
