Preview: ThunderHead Creations TAUREN RDA VORTEX 30

Intro

Alright, let’s talk about the big one —the TAUREN RDA VORTEX 30 from ThunderHead Creations . This thing looks like a beast —30mm diameter, postless dual-coil deck, top airflow , and something they’re calling 3D Vortex Airflow . Big claims, big size—so let’s see if it lives up to the hype.

Design & Build

This isn’t your average RDA. Right out of the box, the Tauren RDA looks clean, solid, and ready for abuse. Made from high-quality stainless steel, it looks like it got some weight to it, and the machining looks top-notch. The 30mm diameter means you’ll need a beefy mod to match, but that’s expected at this size.

One thing that stands out is the four-piece design:
810 Drip Tip – Standard and comfortable. Nothing wild here.
Top Cap – Adjustable airflow, keeping things leak-resistant.
Inner Chamber – This is where the 3D Vortex Airflow happens. More on that later.
Build DeckPostless, spacious, and made for big coils.

It also comes in six colour options: SS, Matt Black, Gun, Purple, Silver Black, and Gold. No wild engravings or gimmicks—just a clean, industrial look.

Now, about this “Dual Drip Thrill 30” branding… what even is that? It’s mentioned in their marketing, but there’s no real explanation. Maybe it’s something to do with the juice well? Maybe it’s just marketing fluff? We’ll find out soon enough.

That Inner Chamber is where it seems the magic is supposed to happen, channelling air to create a vortex effect. Whether that actually improves flavour and vapor production—we’ll find out in the full review. The top airflow should help with leak resistance, but the real test will be how well it performs when it comes to flavour density and cloud production.

Coil & Wicking Setup

This RDA is made for dual coils, and with a postless build deck, the setup should be smooth. At 30mm, there’s plenty of room to drop in some serious coils. Wicking will be key here—if the juice well actually holds 2.5ml, that’s a decent amount for an RDA, and it could mean less dripping between hits. Based on the depth of those wells, we might be pleasantly surprised.

Drip Filling & Squonk Option

Speaking of juice, this RDA offers both drip filling and squonking. A 30mm squonk RDA isn’t something you see every day, so I’m interested to see how well it feeds juice in squonk mode. Too bad I don’t have a squonk mod to test it with.

Testing Setup

I’ll be running the TAUREN VORTEX 30 on my Vaporesso Target 200 and Dovpo MVV, pushing it hard to see how it handles high power and big builds. This RDA looks like it’s made for power vapers, so I’m going to put it through its paces.

Initial Thoughts

The TAUREN VORTEX 30 is clearly built for vapers who love big builds, high wattage, and serious airflow. The Vortex Airflow System is what is really going to set it apart—if it delivers, this could be a flavour monster with smooth airflow. But if it doesn’t? Well, we’ll see.

On paper, the Tauren RDA Vortex 30 has everything a power vaper could ask for—a big deck, smart airflow design, and solid construction. But specs don’t mean anything if the flavour isn’t there.

I’m going in with high expectations, but I’m also optimistically sceptical. Does the 3D Vortex Airflow actually improve flavour, or is it just marketing hype?

Stay tuned for the full breakdown once I get this beast in hand and put it through its paces.—this one’s gonna be fun!

Let’s see if the Tauren can run with the goats.

So, you just read my preview for the Tauren Vortex 30, and maybe you’re thinking, “Alright, where’s the full review?” Well, my friends, sit down, grab a vape, and let me tell you a tale—a tale of suspense, frustration, and a government-run delivery service that would struggle to find its own headquarters without a bribe.

Let’s go back to January 10th. Ally from THC reached out and asked if I’d be interested in reviewing the Tauren Vortex 30. I was beyond excited. My first official sponsored review! I pictured unboxing a gleaming RDA, taking some crisp product shots, and crafting a review so detailed you’d be able to taste the clouds through the screen.

But no.

As far as tracking shows, the Tauren arrived in South Africa on January 20th. And then? Silence. Not a single update. No attempted deliveries. Nothing. Just an eerie void of information, as if my package had fallen into a black hole.

Now, if you’re unfamiliar with the South African postal system, let me enlighten you. The SA Post Office operates on its own timeline—one that exists outside of space, logic, and customer service. Packages arrive when they feel like it. If they feel like it. If you’re lucky, your vape mail won’t be “accidentally misplaced” into someone else’s pocket along the way.

At this point, I’ve tried everything short of hiring a private investigator. I’ve checked tracking so many times that the website probably thinks I’m a bot. I’ve even started preparing myself emotionally for the possibility that the Tauren may never arrive. Maybe it’s being used as a doorstop in a Johannesburg warehouse. Maybe a customs official thought it looked cool and claimed it as their own. Maybe it’s on a spiritual journey, searching for enlightenment before making its way to me.

All I know is that this review is on hold until further notice.

So, to everyone waiting for the full review—I promise it’s coming… as soon as SA Post Office decides to do its job. Stay tuned.

P.S. Ally, if you’re reading this—next time, DHL. Please. For my sanity.

Wow!!! Wth!! I hope maybe they can send you another one. That’s totally ridiculous. It looks like a cool design, I’ve been looking for a modern RDA so it would be nice to hear what it’s like.

Based on the reviews I have read so far, this thing is a beast. THC seems to have done a hell of a good job with this one.
I cannot wait to get my hands on this. If you do want to get one, visit thunderheadcreations.com and use my code: oldgoat when you check out for a nice discount.

Good luck with the post office!

That deck looks very familiar. I’m thinking the Wotofo dual recurve?

I hope they can resend it to you and just use a different shipping service. I just read something that said that the South Africa postal service could be shut down at the end of February due to lack of funding.

:rotating_light: Breaking News: The Case of the Missing Tauren RDA Intensifies! :rotating_light:

Vape fam, the saga continues. My Tauren RDA landed in South Africa on January 20, 2025, and then—just like that—it was swallowed whole by the black hole that is the SA Post Office. :hole::package:

But hope is not lost! The Dutch Post Office has officially launched an investigation to track down my missing RDA. That’s right, a well-oiled, functioning postal service is now trying to make sense of the absolute dumpster fire that is South Africa’s mail system. :fire::mailbox_with_mail:

Let’s be real—if anyone can find it, it’s the Netherlands. These people built an entire country below sea level and made it work. Surely, locating a rogue package in SA is only slightly harder than reclaiming land from the ocean? :ocean:

Possible scenarios:
:mag_right: Lost in a dark corner of an SA Post Office warehouse, buried under letters from 1998.
:moneybag: “Reallocated” by some postal employee who suddenly decided they vape now.
:articulated_lorry: Accidentally rerouted to another dimension, because let’s be honest, that’s more likely than it being delivered at this point.
:turtle: Still in transit, but at the speed of a snail that’s taking regular tea breaks.

Either way, I have faith that the Dutch Post Office will do their best to herd the goats and figure out where the hell this thing ended up. Until then, I’ll be here, clutching my mod and waiting. :goat:

Stay tuned for the next episode of Vape Mail Gone Wrong! :rocket:

Hoarding diamonds? Pfft, if I had a stash, I’d be vaping on a solid gold mod while riding a goat-drawn chariot.  But nah, all I’ve got is an empty mailbox and a dream.

Ah, the SA Post Office—where vape mail goes to take an extended vacation. Buckle up, because this one’s a ride.

Back in January, I ordered a Tauren RDA from ThunderHead Creations. It shipped from the Netherlands and landed in SA on January 20th, 2025. From there? Vanished into the abyss. I had already accepted my fate—another victim of the world’s most incompetent postal service.

Enter Ally from THC, who managed to get the Netherlands Post Office involved in an official investigation. (Because clearly, someone needs to do the job that SA Post Office refuses to do.) Fast forward to this week, and boom—tracking suddenly shows that my Tauren is ready for collection. Victory! Or so I thought…

I flew back from Malawi, rushed straight to the post office, only to be met with blank stares and a whole lot of nothing. According to them, they have no idea where my package is. “If we have it, we’ll send you a notification.” Right. Sure.

So, after weeks of international intervention, investigation, and tracking updates, my Tauren is still floating in bureaucratic limbo. At this point, I half expect a smoke signal or a carrier pigeon to be the next update method.

Will I ever get my Tauren? Who knows. But what I do know is that if you’re looking for some killer vape gear (that hopefully won’t go missing for two months), check out ThunderHead Creations.

:fire: Use my discount code: oldgoat for some solid savings. And maybe send some good vibes my way—this Tauren needs all the luck it can get.

Wow, that’s totally rediculous. Could they have lied and just somehow forcibly updated your package tracking to get investigators off their back?

At this point, I wouldn’t put it past them. Maybe some underpaid intern at the SA Post Office just smashed the ‘delivered’ button so they could go back to their nap. Or maybe my Tauren is on a spiritual journey through the postal void, searching for enlightenment before it reaches me. Either way, I guess I’ll find out when (or if) I ever get that notification they promised.

I hope everything works out and you actually get it. I’ve also been having post office problems, I’m just glad they’re not SA post office problems. :skull_and_crossbones: In the future when a company wants to send you something for a review, I guess you could directly specify to avoid the SA post office like the plague and tell them this story. Hopefully you won’t also be mentioning that your Tauren RDA is still floating in the void.

Yeah, that’s exactly why I’ve been posting all these updates. If any company wants to send me something for review, I want them to see this saga first and really think about their shipping options. Might hurt my chances of getting free gear, but at the same time, I think this whole mess is actually giving THC some unexpected publicity. If nothing else, they’re proving they’ll go the extra mile (or in this case, battle through the postal abyss) to sort things out. Still hoping my Tauren isn’t lost in the void forever, but at this rate, I might need a séance to summon it back.

@Old_Goat, hehe, man, it just keeps getting deeper. I would have sworn it would have arrived by now.

Hey folks,

After a journey that felt longer than a goat’s beard, my Tauren RDA has finally landed! I’ve given it a quick whirl and will be diving into a full review soon.

However, duty calls, and I’m off to Uganda this Sunday. Given the local stance on vaping, the Tauren will have to chill in the pen until I’m back.

A massive shoutout to @thunderheadcreations_ally and the entire Thunderhead Creations crew for their unwavering support. You folks rock harder than a mountain goat on a cliffside!

For those curious, I’ve documented the unboxing process and shared it on Instagram. You can check it out here.

Additionally, I had the pleasure of using my handcrafted knife from Black Dragon Forge during the unboxing. The craftsmanship of this blade added a unique touch to the experience.

For those looking to snag some Thunderhead Creations gear, here’s a treat: use the discount code oldgoat at checkout for a sweet discount.

Stay tuned for the full review once I’m back. Until then, keep those coils tight and your wicks juicy!

Cheers,
