Put a guy in a headlock today!

Went tubing with my girlfriend and as we finished our first run down the river, we walk across the bridge to meet up with the shuttle for our second run.
A lady walks by, and a guy riding a motor scooter illegally on the walking path come up. He gets off his scooter and the lady yells for him to leave her alone. He starts yelling and advancing on her, he then goes for her throat screaming in her face calling her a crackhead and whore. Hes got his hand around her throat and i am already moving toward them. I yell at him to let her go, he ignores me so i throw my arm around his neck and push into his upper back with my free hand pulling him off her, then press into the back of his knee and put him to the ground and hold him there squeezing at his throat tightly. I ask if i can let go if he will behave he agrees so i let him go. The 6 witnesses standing around (2 other men, 4 ladies, including my girlfriend) all cheer and praise me as a hero. Woohoo. Fun ride down the river AND i got to choke someone out and help someone!

Being a old Martial Artist I don’t like to resort to violence But one thing I can’t stand is someone hurting a Woman. I would have done the same thing

Well it wasnt as if he planned on stopping. He did it in front of 7 people without a care and ignored commands to stop. She asked for help so i stepped up to the task. I made him leave. I didnt hit him at all, only restrained him until he got the point.

Fair play, I’d do the very same. I don’t get involved in public disputes until I see someone go way too far, like attack a woman or child. If anything you practiced restraint by just choke-holding him, many would have given him a few slaps to boot

Way to go my friend. You get all the fun. I love to hear about somebody stepping up and doing the right thing when somebody is in distress. Be proud of yourself.

Nicely done! We need more of this. People are so reluctant to step up to the plate in our communities. They look at the situation and say “this isn’t my job, this is what cops are for” and walk away. We need more social responsibility. I applaud you.

Your story reminded me of the evening my older brother and a buddy of his heard a woman cry for help from the parking lot behind a Safe way store. they went to see what was going on and some guy was attempting to rape and rob a you lady. they gave chase and caught the fellow he made the mistake taking a swing at one of them, The other one told him thank you and they beat the wholly hell out of the guy. When the cops arrived a few minutes later, the guy was on the ground. The cop shined his flashlight over the guy, got a smirk on his face and asked are boys OK, sorry we weren’t here sooner. He must have resisted huh? Then looked down at the guy and said you’re lucky they took it easy on you.

Oh yeah and her guard dog Lil Bit. She took care or her and guarded over her when she was sick.

Dear God, a Blue eyed cat!

Oh those beautiful eyes they remind me of our Sassy who was a siamese tabby mix (she had a gray tabby pattern where the siamese markings would be) she had those eyes almost exactly.

Doesn’t always work out like that- When i was around 20-21 at the kebab shop after a night out, we heard crying and shouting outside, couple in their 30’s approx.
So the woman has big panda eyes through crying and makeup and she is insisting this guy leave her alone, he wouldnt, kept pulling on her shoulder trying to turn her round, she is getting more hysterical screaming now " JUST LEAVE ME ALONE "
Soooo, thinking i should help as she is obv distressed i said to the guy, M8, look, she obv doesn’t want to talk to you , leave her alone, So of course he starts on me, its none of my f****n business etc, and continues tugging at the woman, so i put myself in the middle and told her to flag a taxi, said to him, look m8, leave her alone, you are harassing a woman on a main st,
So he swings at me and falls forward as he does, so its not a fight , just a stand up wrestle type of thing, next thing i know, a bottle of beer gets smashed off the back of my head, still cant get my hair cut too short at the back or i look like some inmate lol (joke btw) BUT you’ve guessed it, it was her !!!
After all the shit trying to help her, when he swung on me and the grappling started she picked a bottle up from the ground outside kebab shop and smashed it over the back of my nut while screaming for me to leave HIM alone, so they were obviously a couple who had a falling out.
So unless things are really going south fast, i am always a bit wary of stepping in to situations like that !

That right there is why domestic disputes are consider so dangerous for the police. @mikelej14 did the right thing as did you. I would want someone to interfere if that was me or my daughter. Ive actually interfered in a similar situation myself as it was broad daylight and noone was doing anything at all just starring or walking quickly past>

I used to film people doing martial arts and shot stills of wrestlers. That’s just … awesome
