Hi. I’ve been making the hand sanitizer at this link:
Just wondering if anyone has replaced the VG for a flavoring based in VG. I’m thinking it might make it smell nice kinda like store bought hand sanitizer. There’s not much VG in the recipe (1.45%) so idk if it would even be worth trying. If anything it would be subtle, but that’s good enough for me. Wanted to ask this before I order some flavored VG. Thanks.
BTW I posted this in the pub category because I’m not really sure which one it should be in.
Hey @ffrank, I mixed the hand sanitizer back when Lars posted it up during the height of the covid outbreak. Never thought about adding a flavor to it but if I did I would probably use a pg flavor in place of (part of) the Distilled Water, but I would think as long as you have the alcohol % in there it will be affective either way. Think I used 90% isopropyl alcohol at the time…
Yeah that’s a good idea. I didn’t consider replacing some of the distilled water with a PG flavoring, but it makes sense because the distilled water is basically just filler to dilute the alcohol (I assume anyway). Next time I make a batch I’ll try it and post here whether or not it works the way I was hoping. Thanks for responding.
