I dry burn at 70 watts, first clean my coils with a tooth brush (not my own) under running water, never use wire brushes etc… after dry burn and when they cool down a bit I rinse under water, repeat as needed. Get about a year on a set of 3-core SFC’s
The reason I’m not worried about that is because theyre getting their money out of it since they pushed their taxes on the stuff. The way I see it, it’s a big industry, shutting it down would take away jobs and monetary flows.
Wow okay!! Maybe it’s a good thing I save all my old coils, I could probably just clean them up and reuse them. I usually use em for a couple months before changing.
Are we talking V=IR or is there an article I can read that’s related directly to vaping?
IMO you don’t need to understand ohm’s law itself
you just need to understand why it’s important which is battery safety
you never want to go over the AMP limit of your batteries and have it explode in your face
there are calculators that will do this. you put in the resistance of your coil and the wattage you vape at to get the amperage
always get genuine good batteries from a trustworthy source
there are battery safety guides on vaping you should read
Could you send me a couple links to articles? Been curious for some time now. I have a Smok Mag-18 that I run a 120 Watts. I’d like to know if that’s the best (or good) setup for my dessert DIY’s.
that has a built in battery? they say 18650’s in series but that’s why I don’t like those no idea what they really are
your using disposable coils with the tank that came with it?
you “should” be fine. the intricacies are for people who build their own coils usually
what is the resistance of your coils?
Google says it’s:
- Tank capacity - 2ml
- Coil resistance - 0.15ohm mesh / 0.33ohm mesh
- Output wattage - 5-230W
- Battery compatibility - 2 x 18650 (sold separately)
But I’m sure the tanks capacity is 8 ml. She’s a big one.
cool, separate batteries then
what batteries do you have?
if you don’t know describe them, including any numbers does it have QR code what colour are they
Regulated Mod, you don’t have to worry bout ohms law, it had built in safety measures.
Run what you brung! …
its not a good idea to go over the CDR the batteries are rated for even in a regulated mod
it can lead to a worse and unpredictable vape experience and these safety measures can fail catastrophically
thousands of puffs where your asking for more current than is safe. better know your batteries can handle it without the regulation especially with SMOK who have questionable chinese Quality control issues
Yeah, I’ve had problems with Chinese ethics in the past. Worked at a company that had holdings in Tianjin. A Chinese employees Told me that if the US owner said you had to go from point A, to point B, then C, they’d go from point to A to C, because the government said the same shit.Whatever it takes to circumvent the law.
Into dementia. Bought backup software from ToDo backup and restore and a product called ToDo PCTransfer. Like 5 times. Didn’t know it until the wife pointed it out. These were life time subscriptions. 5 times. Was told tough shit!
So, whataya recommend? Long since retired, fixed income. Like desserts. Almond Joy, Three Musketeer’s…
you should be able to cancel lifetime subscriptions, it’s illegal to not be able to IIRC
i recommend a new recipe either a chocolate or coffee with haZelnut, or almond so we can call it paulies nuts
120watts seems pretty high though for those premade smok coils… don’t they get burnt?
Well shit, nobody else said anything. Maybe my understanding of ohms isn’t complete after all? I thought if a coil was .33ohm, you don’t wanna go over 55watts. In my personal experience, they burn or get wayyy too hot. I wouldn’t push the .15ohm ohm coil over 80watts, but I wouldn’t vape it that high even. In my personal preference I don’t use dual coils because I chain vape and it gets too hot. I tried an RDA I had laying around. After a few draws that sucker gets HOT.
As far as batteries, I was kind of under the impression that, for example, I have a single .32 ohm coil, at 55.5watts when I fire it reads 12-13amps and 4.14 volts, I was under the impression that you don’t really wanna go over 4 volts when selecting the wattage based on the ohms of the coil.
I tend to find lower wattage to be the best for flavor production as well. Lower wattage single coil for flavor, high wattage, dual coil for big clouds. Those pre-made dual mesh coils probably have good flavor at a decent wattage though, 65-70watts. I have used those before before I switched to RTAs.
I actually have a wotofo lush plus RDA that I got for 5$ at the mall, can’t even use it because one of the posts fell out. They have whole RDA for sale for 10$ online but it just seems like such a waste that I’m missing a tiny little metal post. I also have a nudge rda i bought the same time. I’m actually excited to wrap my own coils and try it in there. I don’t wanna spend $$ on RDAs, I just like to play with them at home, ain’t no way I’m gonna walk outta the house with one the way I vape. I considered a squonk but it’s just too expensive for something that I would essentially just toy with.
don’t think its that simple
A longer wire increases resistance due to more collisions between electrons and atoms a larger cross-sectional area decreases resistance because it provides more space for electrons to flow
so the shape, length gauge, metal type, thermal mass, surface area, number of wrapped wires etc are also big factors and resistance isn’t the best indicator of how things will heat up
Maybe. However, a few years ago Pennsylvania destroyed their vape industry and it didn’t seem to bother them.
How so? I don’t remember anything other than the tax on all vape stuff. I do recall having to sign for packages containing vape stuff. I just recently got a vape delivery and wasn’t even home, Im not even sure if anyone signed for it lol.
I found a way to get around being home to have to sign for nicotine though, I just ask permission and have it shipped to were I work. The postman isn’t gonna get out and find someone to sign for it, he’ll just stick it in the mailbox cause it’s a business.
I remember reading that the tax level was so high that it drove most of the vape shops out of business. Is that accurate?
My favorite shop I’ve been going to for a couple years is still kickin. I overheard the owner tell is friend they almost went under, but they came out of it. The other ones that have been around for 10+ years that have vape lounges and such are still open. Unfortunately nobody really just sits around and hangs out in them. The mods can be $20-30 more than online, but I just call that “the convenience fee.” The reason I didn’t go there to buy my next mod was simply that they didn’t have the color I wanted. Their inventory has changed a lot. They sell the “hemp” cannabis products, a lot of pods and stuff. Still got a whole wall or juices. Coils, kits, RDAs, RTAs, they got a bit of everything. True vape shops, not smoke shops that sell vape stuff.
But yeah, the 40% tax is total bs.
