Real Flavors! All Natural VG Based Flavors

Thank you very much for the update! I am wondering if the cloves needs a longer steep to settle like cinnamon does. Although the french toast is good now and that has cinnamon. I am mixing the Yumberry, Cream, and Marshmallow tonight

You may be right. I am new to DIY so I havenā€™t let many things steep for very long yet. back at the end of July I made a 30ml bottle of @kriga Deadly Sin Clone v1 which uses Cinnamon Danish Swirl. I didnā€™t think it was a perfect match after a week steeping but was good enough I made a 200ml batch which has been steeping since while I worked on the remainder of my store bought juice. A couple days ago I made a 20ml bottle of his v2 recipe which smells a lot closer to the original with no steep time and tastes pretty good already. I got down to my last 15ml of the store bought juice so I switched over to the v1 that has been steeping to save a little for comparing and the v1 clone tastes/smells much better now than I remember it tasting. It is very close to the original. I think I will have to set this RF Baklava (and Pumpkin Pie) to the side and try and forget about it for a week or three.

I would also recommend starting those in the 1-1.5% range. Itā€™s always easier to add more flavoring later than figuring out dilution percentages. And these extracts seem very strong. Iā€™m not an expert either, just my very short experience with these so far.

Yes, it just sounded so low I decided to jump in the middle of the 1 - 3.5 range I saw recommended. I might do up another smaller batch of each tomorrow at 1 to compare to these I did at 2. If 1 is too strong and the other too weak after a long steep I can mix them together. :innocent:

I got Yumberry, Marshmallow, Strawberry, and Butterscotch Pudding extracts steeping at 2.5% nowā€¦will let them steep 2 -3 weeksā€¦at 40/60 PG/VG for MTL vape in a Goblin Mini at about 1.2 Ohmsā€¦so I look forward to hearing your results alsoā€¦

My VG flavors from OSDIY will be here today, really eager to try the bread pudding. I see most here use 12%. Anyone tried less? On another forum a guy raves about it at a mere 5% so think I might start there and see how it is and add more laterā€¦ or maybe try a small sample at each strength, canā€™t decideā€¦

I found it a bit harsh at 10% but I chalked that up to most cinnamons seeming harsh to me. Maybe another test at lower % is a good idea.

Just go my extracts today, same situation, one bottle leaked to the package.
Extracts List:
Watermelon, Honeydew, Strawberry, Blueberry, Apple, Honey.

Please give your suggestions on this, maybe a mix idea. By the way Watermelon smells like heaven. :))

Phewā€¦ Is the holiday over already?! I am back. Sorry for some of the leaky bottles. I have a solution to this and we are applying it as we speak. Stupid caps give me such hell.

I promise to make it up :stuck_out_tongue:

I tried the Bread Pudding at 8% for my first batch but found it to be too weak. Funny I see this post today, vaping the Bread Pudding VG mix at 12% today after about a week steep and it is pretty good, definitely much more flavor than the 8% version that steeped for a month.

As far as harshness the 8% version was just a shake for about 2 minutes, no heat or anything. The 12% version I did to a heat steep followed by 2 minutes with the frother and a second heat steep, this really help to mellow it out and the 12% version is smooth as can be.

As noted before the nic should be added after the heat steep when the liquid has cooled then shaken by hand for a minute or 2. Heat steeping with nicotine could oxidize the nic and make it harsh, the 3 enemies of nicotine being heat, light and air. A friend of mine mixes his ADVā€™s in 100ml or bigger bottles with no nic, when they are steeped and he is ready to vape them that is when the nic is added. I have not done that yet but his results have been excellent and it makes sense so I will do the same. It also makes sense for me as I mix for some friends and family, a lot of who mix different nic strengths so I can just mix in the desired nic when needed.

Seems like 1% for the Raw Extracts is a good starting point, would be best to make single flavor mixes of all your flavors to gauge the strength of each one and adjust from there.

Watermelon and Strawberry would go well together, try a mix with 1% each, 1/2% each if you like a more subdued mix. If I was going to use an RDA I would probably try those 2 at .75% each, I donā€™t have the Watermelon but the Strawberry is real good.

Please let us know how these flavors work out for you, I am especially looking forward to hearing about the Watermelon, Blueberry and Apple.

Thanks, that may explain why I was getting some harsh/odd notes with my baklava and pumpkin pie. too lazy to add nic after the heat steep, or more likely just didnā€™t know better as I only started doing crock pot baths recently (my french toast extract that tastes so good did not get heat). I will definitely make sure to add it after the bath going forward. Sounds Like I might want to mix up some fresh testers of baklava and pumpkin pie and do the nic after the bath.

My Baklava Raw Extract was a little harsh at first too, I mixed it up at 2% as well, might try my next batch at 1% and add a little sweetener like Stevia as it is a little flat. The Baklava does taste pretty authentic though, I like it, just need to find the right combo to make it shine. I am pretty sure I didnā€™t do a heat steep with the Baklava as well, canā€™t remember as it was the first raw extract flavor I tried and I was just looking to see how these compared to the VG flavors.

I am a really big fan of using a frother now, with the raw extracts it really seems to speed up the steeping process. I got mine off of ebay for like $6 shipped and they are available at IKEA for about the same price. I modified mine to fit into wide mouth unicorn or glass bottles so I froth right in the bottle itself.

I have a badger paint mixer I started using on the last couple testers and it is small enough to fit in my 30ml glass bottles. Too big for the 30ml plastic unicorns I am sure but I donā€™t mix into those at this pointā€¦ but am running low on 30ml tester bottles, need to vape some of the testers I made in early august after my first BCF order asap so I can wash out and reuse the bottles.

Got my VG flavors today and mixed up the bread pudding at 12%. In for a penny in for a pound. I can always dilute with unflavored nic base later if need be. It smells wonderful after a mix, 90 minute warm bath and another mix. It is now in the bath again then it will get some nic and thrown in the tray of testers to try on a dripper in a few days.

I will probably mix up the aged bourbon cream and apple pie tomorrow, and some more testers of baklava and pumpkin pie extracts at a lower percentage and/or make sure I add the nic after the warm bath, if I have time.

Ok, decided to mix Pure Michigan recipe, that Walt posted. He was using VG based flavors, so I just devided percentages by 4 and got this:

Apple (Raw) 0.75%
Strawberry (Raw) 1.75%
Blueberry (Raw) 0.25%

Will mix it today. For Watermelon and Strawberry I decided to mix it like this:

Strawberry (Raw) 0.75%
Watermelon (Raw) 1.10%

31Aug mix report: The French Toast Raw/Extract I mixed @ 2% was so good after just a week I already mixed up a 100ml batch to let steep naturally.

02Sept mix report: Vaped the Baklava again today and the cinnamon and clove notes are beginning to get refined and more mellow now. It is tasting much better now after steeping for 5 days. I am going to keep letting it steep before I consider making a new batch with a lower percent (and making sure to add the nic after the warm bath/mix process). The Pumpkin Pie is tasting absolutely amazing. I canā€™t wait to see how much better that one gets.

06Sept mix report: The VG Bread Pudding @ 12% is awesome after just one day. I will be ordering this in bigger bottles for sure. @Walt_RealFlavors will this be available in Raw extract form eventually?

07Sept mix report: Currently have the VG Apple Pie @ 12% and the Aged Bourbon Cream @ 11% in the warm bath. The AP smells more apple than pie so far but I am sure that will change as it steeps. The ABC smells amazing, canā€™t wait to vape that and see how it changes as it ages.

Tyvm for the update! Added the French Toast to my list. Please let me know what that VBC ends up tasting likeā€¦been curious about it too.

Vaping the VG Bread Pudding as we speak, 12% BP and 3% Caps Vanilla Whipped Cream. One of my ADVs/addictions

I am a lover of good/old bourbon but never had any bourbon cream so it should be interesting. I am sure I will be testing it frequently during the steeping process.

One of the reviews on the RF site for the VG version of French Toast said he adds some caramel to it. I donā€™t have the RF version of Caramel yet but may try adding in some DX Caramel (TFA) to another batch in the future, sounds promising:

Here is the review from the RF site that I have in my recipe calculator notes:

Combine with a bit of Caramel flavoring to really enhance the French Toast experience. 10% French Toast, 1% Caramel and it tastes exactly like my favorite breakfast meal. You can even taste the egg batter on the toast, which is what makes it authentic to me. Other flavors that try to pull off the syrup profile fall short and leave a bad taste in my RDA that is hard to get rid of. This mix has quickly become one of my favorites.
