My description:
Very sweet, maybe more of a candy like watermelon but not sure…I’m new to this. The ice profile is extremely cool in the throat, almost like an ice cube is stuck in my throat. It’s my ADV and I never get tired of it. Would love to be able to make something similar but so far struggling.
Welcome to the forums. Not a lot of straight watermelon recipes on ELR. So you may need to create something. First head over to the ELR main page go to resources to the flavor list and click ratings for the top rated watermelons. Read some reviews see if they are more candied or natural look at what others have used with that flavor. Get yourself 3-4 watermelon flavors maybe 2 candied 2 natural watermelon flavors. Start experimenting SFT single flavor testing at different %. Look for good pairings of watermelon maybe strawberry or other red fruits that could highlight watermelons flavor. I personally like using Capela pomegranate v2 to highlight watermelons red flesh, or Capela sweet currant for the same with some sweet syrupy vibes, then some cucumber to help with juiciness. Play around with the flavors to get yourself a sweet juicy watermelon with some candied notes. Then add a sweetener like Cap Super sweet, and a coolant like WS 23, Koolada, and start at .25% add more at .25% until you get the cooling where you comfortable with it. If you just want a recipe that’s already been done search watermelon recipes look for highly rated mixes and try those out you may find something that tickles your tastebuds.
Thanks McDuckie! I’ve recently started doing SFT to try to narrow downt he primary watermelon. While I found some good flavors nothing was tasting quite like the orgnx but maybe it’s the accent flavors you mentioned that are missing. Good suggestions, I’ll give the pomegranate, currant, and cucumber a whirl.
I bought 8-12, (I can’t remember) different watermelon and candy watermelon flavors in my search. While some smell similar to orgnx, they taste different but maybe not after I try the highlight flavors you suggested.
Koolada isn’t doing much for me on the cooling side. WS23 gives a more pronounced cool but not quite as coo, or the same type of cool, as orgnx but maybe my percentage is too weak but if I go higher my lips get really chapped so not sure what’s going on there. Maybe I need to try more of a menthol??
Thanks again for the help!
That’s a good way to start. You also have to remember that you probably won’t get it exact when doing a shake n vape recipe most commercial e-liquids may sit in a warehouse or store shelf for weeks if not months be for being consumed. Which allows for a long steep. That’s why some companies go really high with their % to allow for fading or settling of flavors. We as DIYers don’t need to go high on % because we don’t want to wait for a steep.
Definitely try using add ons for watermelons, it can really enhance an already good watermelon flavor. Menthols can also be used as coolants, I like FA arctic winter over ws23 and koolada. And it’s also nice as a single flavor to cleanse the tastebuds.
Good call on the steep. That’s probably why they’re much smoother than my SNV DIY vapes. All good stuff, thanks again McDuckie!
Welcome and glad you joined.
Just an FIY, the Noted DX Watermelon and Watermelon 2 were just streamed last month.
Take a look at those before you decide which watermelons to buy. Don’t be like me and buy ALL of them, because honestly most of them are terrible.
I’ve also been trying to recreate a watermelon liquid since I started DIY. It’s quite a difficult task. The closest thing which I’ve tried that comes close to the profile you wanted was:
[PUR] [Watermelon] 10%
[OTHR] [WS-23] 2%
[TPA] [Sweetener] 0.5%
Unfortunately the original recipe is on ATF: https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/54099
This is a straight candy watermelon that will make your brain freeze. I prefer it with Capella Super Sweet opposed to TFA Sweetener, but to each, their own.
Purilum watermelon is one of the best candy watermelon flavors, so it may be a good place to start. Some get a scratching in the back of their throat from it, but I assume with 2% Ws-23 (which is too cold for me) you won’t feel it anyway.
One more thing, if WS-23 isn’t the cooling you were looking for, try FA Arctic Winter or FA Polar Blast. Those are the 2 coldest ones IIRC.
Thanks for all that info IggyZ. I have PUR watermelon but have only tried it in mixes so the recipe you gave will be my next one.
I’ll also buy some FA artic winter and try that out along with the FJ ultimate watermelon and VSO watermelon (raw) they talk about on Noted or pt.1 stream.
Thanks again for your help. I’ll update everyone on my progress.
