Req: Popcorn recipe help

Hey everyone!

First of all, happy new year. I’m not sure I’ve posted since 2026 began, and I hope everyone has had a healthy and successful start into the new year.

I’ve picked up some popcorn flavors in the last year, but have yet to use any of them extensively, and my first attempt at a recipe is a bit underwhelming. Some of you are thinking, “Ewwww, popcorn?!?!?”. I know. But I find it an intriguing challenge and want to come a bit closer to the mark before calling it quits.

Ideally, I’d like to create a salty butter popcorn like at the movies. But working with what I have, I had to try for a sweeter popcorn alternative. I have TPA Kettle Corn, FA Vanilla Popcorn, FLV Popcorn, WF Caramel Popcorn and Peanuts, and TPA Acetyl Pyrazine 5%.

I attempted a Cracker Jack type mix, and after 2 weeks I’m getting less popcorn and more sweetness/caramel than expected. I tried rebalancing the flavors, and played with the mix, but every result wasn’t getting any closer to what I wanted.

My last (and closest) version is as follows:

(And i additionally added 0.25% of FLV Beer Nuts one week after the initial mix)
It’s good. I’m not going to lie. I’ve vaped through 50ml of revisions of this since creating it. But they didn’t REALLY taste like popcorn. I’ll sometimes get a wiff of something reminiscent of popcorn, but in the next puff it’s gone. And I don’t know if it’s because I used too much popcorn flavor and AP, or not enough. I’ve went ±50% in both directions with the popcorn flavors and AP, but the results were always pretty much the same.

Out of the bottle it smells nothing like popcorn, but when vaping, it tastes like it about 30% of the time. FYI, I’m not really sure if this is something like a placebo effect and I’m just imagining the popcorn taste.

Tl/dr: Sorry for blabbering, but does anyone have any experience with popcorn flavors or mixes and can point me in the right direction? I feel a bit stuck with this one, but don’t want to give up just yet.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Yes, I was on a mad popcorn kick in the past. Do you remember the popular commercial juice called Pop Deez? Everyone was trying to clone it. Fiddy has a good rendition called Pop That, no Pop This, lol (or something). See his recipes.

I used Cereal 27 in mine for the AP and the cornflake flavor. If you want salty I’d say Beer Nuts was a good choice on your part. I need to run back to work but I’ll look through my mixes later to see if anything can help out.

@IggyZ I’m laughing because I found @fidalgo_vapes recipe and the proper name. Thing is, you said you were chasing a salty, buttered movie theatre popcorn I believe and this is more sweet in the Cracker Jack sense.

Love Popcorn Mixes…The one @muth posted came out more of a Popcorn Ball Custard but i liked it more than the original i was aiming for…Ive had a lot of success with Kettle Corn up at 5 and 6pct with FLV backing it up at .75pct to 1pct…AP will help but i learned that i had to limit the amount of flavors that use AP or it would seem to soften the overall popcorn taste (if that makes sense).

I see your using saline , have you tried it without??

BTW i need to make a simple popcorn mix , i love it…

Personally I would drop the WF caramel peanut popcorn , and boost your Kettle Corn

Create a base

Kettle Corn @5 to 6
Popcorn FLV @ .75 to 1pct
AP .5 to .75
sweetener

See what this does and then start adding the others flavor , butter , caramel etc…Peanut Butter plays very well in these type of recipes.

Butterscotch works well instead of caramel or a good pairing but the Butterscotch isnt as dark as the caramel

also the amount of AP in the recipe may be muting , if you can try getting rid of the AP and just use Beer Nuts or The OOO Honey Puff Cereal . Muth used Cereal 27 which is a good choice as well.

Idk if I can link you to my Popcorn file page or not. There’s a collection of mine and others recipes that you can browse and maybe pick up some ideas. Here’s one that’s described as just sweet and buttery popcorn, no caramel.

One Popcorn flavor I never tried was Popcorn (TPA). Some people claim it tastes/smells like salted, buttered popcorn or between popcorn and Corn Pops. Wouldn’t hurt to try. Their Kettle Corn is good.

Let me know how things turn out. Your mix above looks good, I’ll give it a try.
