Rush drummer Neil Peart dead at 67

Wow… Brings back memories of old, alcohol and drug induced evenings, laying on the couch in a stupor, watching the lights on the stereo and listening to Tom Sawyer, Limelight… haha.

I’m a big rush fan from way back. I saw them live 3 times in the 80s. If you’ve never seen Rush live, they always put on a great show and play their asses off. The new drummer is pretty amazing and truly capable of playing Neil Peart stuff. I’m 60 yrs old now…and my concert days are over unless it’s in a small intimate theatre type setting. That’s about the only size crowd I’m comfortable being in anymore.

I’ve been with them since the Farewell To Kings tour, and have seen them countless times. I had assumed the R40 was going to be the last time, but I can’t NOT go to the '26 tour, as it will be to much not to. Anika is very good, and clearly has the skill to sit in with Rush, but I can’t help but wonder how it will play. I don’t love the crowds, but I’ll deal with it to see the Boys, minus one, and the girl.

I got turned on to them by a buddy when 2112 came out and they’ve been my #1 band ever since. I bought all their prior albums and at one time time I owned everything up to the Counterparts album. Then life and a marriage and divorce took my attention and I lost all my albums and most everything else in the divorce. Now I barely ever listen to music at all unless it’s some younger guy doing a reaction video on YouTube. It’s fun to watch the The GenZs and millenials get blown away by the quality of music we had at our disposal back then. True talented artists. Now it’s nothing but computer generated crap unless you can find some talented independent artists doing their own thing online. Big music labels and radio are all but dead now…crazy how things change. Enshitification everywhere…from cars to music to household appliances, it’s all shit now.
