Safe to use these?

Thats exactly how I vape mine and I was having the exact same issues. Glad you got it to work they way its supposed to. I tried putting rayon in the middle and surrounding it with cotton and it worked, but since I figured out how to cut the ends, there’s no further need to go the extra step.
I hope Wotofo comes up with another version with a larger capacity and get rid of that membrane on the fill port. Mine got caught on the sliding portion of the cap and would never fit back into place. I just cut it out and problem solved.

That rubber insert is a pain in the ass. But everything seems to be good on it. But id like to see the same design minus insert and a taller rta. Not much taller but a little bit. Enough t oget the deck a little higer from the wells

@Psycho_316,

I was just notified of your question in a “Here’s what’s been happening” Summary email. I’d like to tell you about Puff Organic Cotton Pads. They come in Small, Medium and Large. As is the case with most if not all JOC Pads, it’s a woman’s’ beauty care product made of pure Japanese cotton. I was told about them in an e-cig forum a few years ago and I love them. Large is what most vapers buy and that’s what I ordered, but I was sent Medium by mistake. They are still large enough to wick 2 coils with one strip cut to the width needed, but I would have prefered Large. They are made like regular JOC PADS with a thin skin on both sides that’s easy to peel off, but I do that carefully and slow to prevent pulling much cotton with them as I do with all JOC pads. Here’s what they look like…

The Medium package has 200 pads (3 columns) and the Large package has 120 pads (2 columns). Medium has a Capital M in the lower right and Large has a capital L. Medium is 5cm x 6cm or 50mm x 60mm. Large is 6cm x 8cm or 60mm x 80mm. Mine are about 1/8 inch thick. What you see at the top is a ziplock closure.

I ordered mine from a company in Japan as the only company I found back then, but if you search for “Puff Organic Cotton Pads” with Google Chrome and select the Shopping link at the top, you’ll see that Amazon, eBay and other stores have them so you wouldn’t to wait to get them from Japan.

The individual cotton strands are straightened and all are run in parallel, giving the pads a grain. Your issue with Muji may be that you cut your strip(s) against the grain instead of with it so they tear apart very easily. I learned that hard way. DOH! Whatever the case is with Muji, which could be finding it (I did not read the whole thread), these Puff Organic Cotton Pads are great. No cotton break in time, just a perfect vape on the first puff. No need to boil or anything else in prep. Another thing I do to insure that is to saturate the cotton everywhere, within the coil(s) all the way around, the downward bends all the way around, and in the juice feed slots. I do this in several passes before closing tank and filling it so I don’t have to let it sit while gravity and atmospheric pressure do it for me, which is generally 5 minutes, but I spend that time saturating it. I’ve done this with cotton brand and type I’ve ever used.

You may have found an alternative from this thread, but Puff Organic Cotton Pads are something to consider next time. Good Luck!

PS: There’s also COTN Threads and Firebolt Cotton Threads. They are made specifically for 3mm coils and have a shoelace heat shrink on them to make threading them into the coil very easy. These brands make various types, so if you try them, I would suggest getting the ones with the shoelace. When I use them on 2.5mm coils and some 3mm coils, I pull off and save a very thin piece, pull it all the way and trim it at the shoelace and use them the old way when I have enough for the thickness needed. Of course, these are more expensive, but very convenient.
