Hello does anybody have a (unused) Damn Vape Doom atomizer for sale (not the Doom X but the previous Doom before the X)? Mine is at EOL but I like this one very much but is not on sale anymore. I also now bought the Wotofo Profile X as replacement but wicking is not a great success until now and needs more trying out.
I have to check my hoarding stash, but I might have a Doom X I can let go of.
On the Profile X you need to makes sure the cotton is really tight under the mesh, but needs to be thinned out at the tails. Are you making angled cuts to the cotton?
Hi Lynda,
Thank you for your message and kind offer for the Doom!
I see you are located in the USA so sending me the Doom to the Netherlands would be somewhat troublesome I guess.
Yes I have cut in an angle but not really thinned out the cotton, will try that for sure and also watch some more wicking video’s from other users.
Greetings Robert
I think I might have done a tutorial on the profile x wicking, are you on FB in the Wotofo group. They used to send me products to review, let me check to see if I can find the video. It’s similar wicking to the original profile rta.
I am not on FB. On youtube I also found some different wicking examples, very different from what I did so I just need to experiment with that. Maybe you have a video link from you on youtube. Thank you already for your help so far!
Is this what you’re after?
You could try and contact Damn Vape directly
Hi, yes that is the one. I will also contact Damn Vape.
Contacted Damn Vape and reply is the first Doom is stopped in 2021 and Doom X would still only be available in the US. Hmmm I recently bought the Wotofo Profile X so this one will be my next atomizer to use. Now only find the wright way to wick. Thank you all
If you have facebook, I’m an admin in the Wotofo group. I have posted wicking tutorials for it. If you need, you can pm me on here and I can help you with it.
Hi, I am not on FB. I have followed this type of wicking from the video below and that worked ok. I have to get used to the profile x, has top airflow instead of my Doom with bottom airflow and that is a different vape experience. Flavor seems somewhat less then with the Doom but we will see how that goes. If you have other info for the wicking that is not on FB then please let me know. Thank you!
I watched your video and I could never get WOTOFO mesh RTA’s to work not using their method of wicking. I install the 6mm cotton and overhang the deck. At 1/4 inch overhang at the bottom I cut the cotton to 1/4 inch on each side at the top of the coil. Once the cotton is cut and tucked into the guides the cotton should be vertical from the guides to top and at the top the the cotton should form a U . Do a dry fit of the air chamber to see how much of the cotton at the top need to be trimmed without hitting the top of the air chamber. Trim the top of cotton above the coil so it doesn’t hit the air chamber top walls. Prime your cotton and assemble. Your ready to vape.
It’s the only way I can get my WOTOFO’s to get the best flavor out of their RTA’s. No raking or thinning needed.
Hello, thank you! Can you send me an youtube video link to the specific way of wicking that you describre. I will sure try it out.
It’s on a blog on WOTOFO’S site. The picture on the bottom will will show what I explained in a visual manner.
> Cut the cotton in a way that leaves the cotton wide at the bottom and narrow at the top;
> Tuck the lower cotton into the well, and fluff the cotton with tweezers;
> Trim the upper cotton and that’s it.
You can drip your juice to taste it layer upon layer now!
This is a Profile but the wicking is the same.
The only “mistake “ I see in their wicking is there’s too much cotton in the well. It wicks much better if there’s just a hint of cotton showing and the very ends thinned out.
Never had trouble of it not wicking keeping a 3/16-1/4 inch overhang. I do see one problem of not trimming the the top above the coil. Cotton has to be above the coil but has to be trimmed not to touch the top of the air tube. If not trimmed the cotton turns black from the heat.
Thank you all for the help! next time I will try the method that you recommend and see how this works out
