Both of my TF-RDTA’s are authentic. Bought them from vapeNW and after 3days of run-around, they would not stand good on the DOA one…after pictures, then requiring a video, then simply said ‘no returns’…Christian was the representative.
That’s sad… jumping through burning hoops only to land in the fire. I really hate blaming vendors for problems that’s the manufacturers fault. But they should stand behind what they sell. They should hold the manufacturers accountable.
I must be one lucky guy. I have the TFV4, TFRTA, TFRDTA, and two TFV8s. I haven’t had a single leak or mechanical failure other than my own poor wicking or a coil touching the chimney. I haven’t even replaced one oring or seal. I do only use kanthal and generally low wattage, so I can’t say I wouldn’t have problems with other wires or at high temp. I periodically disassemble the build decks completely and I had the one crooked post on the TFV8, but when I held it in the correct position as I reassembled the build deck, it went together straight.
This right here was the only reason I was willing to spend the amount of cash I did on the VT133 from them. And yes, $79 shipped was a steal
Not that I’ve had a bad incident yet with VapeNW, but until now, it’s only been a couple of low-priced items ($20-35 before shipping) that I woudn’t get all bent out of shape about IF they didn’t perform to my expectations.
The entire reason that I ‘gambled’ on spending that much on a mod was due to the fact that I figured that if anything ever went wrong, I’m not going to deal with someone overseas. I’ll hit up the good folks at Evolv to get things sorted. And worst case scenario, even IF the board were to die (or even the screen for that matter) replacements are right here in my own back yard (USA), not waiting on a slow boat to (for the return) AND from (for the replacement) China. [EDIT: I wish it was that way for tanks/tops/etc]
Money spent for piece of mind as well as the hardware itself.
@Pro_Vapes Definitely appreciate your seasoned input on Smok here bud, and while I understand that it’s partially ‘accumulated frustration’, it’s worth it’s weight in cash for someone new like myself to hear from those that can provide ‘long-term’ assessments on the state of things about a company as a whole.
I so appreciate informative threads like these! (from both sides)
I love the TFV8 with the stock coils, I just tried to make coils for the RDA and I cant get 2 clean coils that wont short in it. I think it’s bad deck. I’m on my 3rd wrap and I’m %$#@#$%^&.
I thought SMOK was supposed to be a top notch company with quality products but I have had bad luck with most of their products as well. The R200s mod I bought was faulty. When I put a nickel coil in on my crown uwell tank after I set it on temp mode the way I wanted I would take one vape and it would automatically go back into watt mode. Still waiting on my replacement. I wanted a refund but they would only replace it. The battery door on the bottom slides across the batteries so you have to kind of push them down as you slide the battery cover on and it tears the battery wraps. I am not wasting batteries on a mod like that. I will just sell my replacement on Ebay. As far as the TF-RTA tank goes, I don’t have any leaking issues but I can’t get any flavor out of it. Trying to find the right coil and wick combo to get some flavor but mostly it’s just a lot of trouble. I just got the RTA for my crown uwell tank and I am going to try that. I want a friendly RTA that doesn’t leak like crazy and let’s me put some different coils in and gives decent flavor. If you know a good tank like that I would like to know which one. Every one I get ahold of either has leaking problems or you can’t get any decent flavor out of. As far as SMOK goes; I don’t put much faith in their products anymore. Just bought the Alien 200watt mod and it’s nothing special. I ended up chucking up the bucks for a Snow Wolf 200watt mod but haven’t gotten it yet. They are sold out everywhere except for China and that’s a month or more wait now with the way customs has been slowing things down.
