I was considering buying this tank today until I read some users reviews. It seems to have some of the typical SMOK QC issues… (Some good tanks and some bad). Besides my TFV4s, all of my SMOK purchases has been a bust. As much as I’d like to try this tank I think I will pass.

I’ve seen no negatives on this forum for the TF-RDTA, but for myself, I’ve had too much bad luck with SMOK products.

With the Griffin, the tank would fire but it leaked like a sieve. With the Smok TF-RDTA, it doesn’t leak but it won’t even fire because the moment you screw the tank down to the base the coils short. Pure garbage! I fixed it, however. It no longer gives me any trouble…

I am a SMOK fan, have all their tanks and really wanted this one. The price at Vape NW was even better than the Chinese outlets! I ordered it and received it 2 days later. Very quick shipping and excellent customer service. The RDTA arrived as described. As with all SMOK products, the packaging was slick and contained a spare glass, vape band and a spare parts kit. I immediately wicked the pre-installed Clapton coils and dropped some Ugly Butter on the cotton. I filled the tank (once reassembled) tossed it on my RX200S and hit the tank for the first time. WOW! All the taste and cloud production of an RDA with the capacity of a sub-ohm tank! I have the TF-RTA and the TF-RDTA hits better than the TF-RTA, though both are awesome setups! I could not be happier with the TF-RDTA. The juice flow and airflow controls are perfect for balancing flavor. I vape a lot of warm juices and as such vape up around 110-120W a lot. The TF-RDTA has had no issues handling the wattage and does not get noticeably hot. The TF-RDTA is very well built, the quality s what you would expect. Top fill, as always, is perfect. I been vaping on this for 3 days now. So far not one dry hit. Excellent juice flow, easy to build! Huge tank. Holds a ton of juice. It’s a good looking rdta. Esp the black! I love the style of the deck and plenty of air holes. A perfect combination of taste and clouds. If there was one thing that i would complain about it would be the lack of space on the bottom of the tank, in order to take off the tank from your device you need to make sure you do not turn it to tight. I had a hard time getting it off my device because of the lack of space to grip the bottom and unscrew. But as long as you don’t accidentally tighten it to much it’s fine. I am saddened by this tank. I bought this and the tf-rta at the same time and this one would be my favorite tank if it worked properly. I get atomizer short messages on several mods, I believe due to the pin not being long enough. Mine leaks a little bit no matter how I wick it and the juice flow control is backwards from what is printed on the tank. At first wicking I was blown away. Great taste and plenty of vapor even at lower watts. I don’t like high wattage tanks and this one is great at 20-30 watts, but it will go a lot higher if that is your thing. I’ve had it up to 60 watts with no burnt hits and I’m sure it’ll go higher, but that’s just not for me. This one holds a bit more juice than the tf-rta as the chimney part doesn’t take up as much room in the tank. You can’t see the juice flow holes, but it’s easy enough to tell when you have it open by the bubbles and it’s backwards from the rta also. I hope this is a clone and that there is a good version out there, because this could be an awesome tank. The preinstalled claptons are great. I’ve seen pictures of this that have the juice flow control settings reversed, so maybe this is a first run or a clone and maybe there is a better version. This one is unuseable for me, but a working version of this rdta would be my most used tank, and I have a lot of tanks. VapeNW was great to deal with and shipped very quickly. Was so disappointed with this. I never got to use it. I was glowing my coils to get the hot spots out and the insulator melted. I have just about every RTA out there and never had this happen to me. I was lost for words so disappointed. If you get be careful. (Posted on 5/24/2016)

Picked up an xcube 2 a couple of weeks ago an got tired of dripping in the car, so decided I needed a tank, basically was torn between this and the tf-rta, but glad i went with this, the pre-installed claptons work great, looked up a few tutorials on how to wick it properly and havent had any leaks at all, super amazing taste and vapor production, shipping was super fast like 3 days between order An receipt, definitely gonna order thru these guys again, also not sure what the guy talking about these are clones, but this is the tf-rdta, not the -rta, there is a difference and this is definitely authentic, thanks again vapenw!

I have had this tank for over a week and I am loving it. Easy build deck and easy to adjust airflow plus a great price. Adjustable 510 pin so if you are getting atomizer short messages on your device, you just adjust the 510 pin up or down as needed. I have had no leaks. Good quality machining. All in all it’s a nice Rebuildable Tank and would be good for someone just getting into rebuilding to get. Other tanks like this cost a lot more. This is a great value.(Posted on 5/21/2016)

Great tank here, love the big post screws, they use a bigger format grub screw that virtually never strips. Perfect juice flow that never leaks; after you vape flip the tank upside down to drain out the bottom chamber of juice, then close. Adjust the 510 pin to align the coils with the air holes. Only con is relatively narrow chimney in comparison to the Griffin and Aromamizer Supreme. VERY VERY good value, vapes just about as good as the Supreme. (Posted on 5/20/2016)

I have had this rta for 2 days and it constantly gives me atomisor short messeges on 2 diffrent mods. Then i hsve to take it all apart and fiddle with the deck to make it work. Then out of the blue i get the error again. Im no rookie to rta’s. Do your research if thinking of buying im not the only one in this boat. I would give it no stars if i could but vapenw wont post my review if i try. No fault of vapenw just a faulty product(Posted on 5/19/2016)

I get how you feel. My experience with Smok has been just the opposite. Every Smok product I have including the refurb xcube 2 I got from you still work perfect. But, I’ve had similar experiences from Joyetech. I’ve had two RX200s that failed miserably within two months of purchase and wasn’t worth the hassles to try and ship for repairs. Finally dumped them. Still love my eVic Mini’s and my Wismec Reuleaux DNA 200, but I hear you on inconsistent QC. I don’t think it’s a Smok thing. I think it’s a thing for any of the mass production vape gear companies. For $20 though… meh, I don’t lose too much sleep over it. I’ve wasted a lot more than that in bad mix experiments.

yup, exactly how i feel .i mean, whats the fucking gamble? throw a twenty out there…chances are, you’re gonna end up with an amazing tank.

Hell a pack of TFV4 coils cost that when they first came out and here you get the whole rebuildable for the same cost. I like it a lot because it’s not really like any other tank I own. It’s got some really innovative stuff in it.

One note though. You do have to make sure the deck is wrenched down pretty good to the base or it can back out. I suspect that’s where many run into issues with jumping ohms and atomizer shorts. Not all, but I suspect several are related to that.

It would be throwing another $20 on top of my previous SMOK investments. I just threw away $30+ a couple weeks ago.

I ordered four of them last week after watching a few reviews.I do thank you for the heads up PV , I will let everyone know my thoughts after I use them a while.I think we are all testers when it comes down to it.We roll the dice and hope for the best , that’s what we do.
Edit I went back and double checked my orders.I only have two of the Smok TF-RDTA tanks ordered.I have four of the Smok TF-RTA G2 tanks on order.

I’m the same as @Pro_Vapes with smok products. Everyone I’ve had has fucked up and wasted my time.
I wish we could get them for $20 but there £30 over here. Thats $45.
The Apache was on offer over in the usa for under $10, here there £30.
The provari 2.5 are $45 over there, here there £220 or $330.
Price is redicoulos over here, so now i think twice.
But at the same time i respect what @Whiterose0818 has to say as he’s never steered us wrong yet.
Just my 2p worth. :yum:

Nope, I shelved it until I see reviews on the other available decks. They offered to replace it if they found it to not work properly. I’m fairly certain they’re not going to put in the 8hrs I did. It will fire, but not at the correct resistance with Ti.

I’m sorry to hear everyone’s trouble with there Smok products, I only have one and its the TFV4 Micro and it has been flawless. Ohms have been steady and right where they should be, some minor leaking dew to my ignorance about wicking. Loving this tank so far!

I bought 2 at the same time. One (silver) is great but the other (black) has threads on the base that aren’t machined quite right.

I have two G4 decks coming from another place.I wanted 2 of each but Vape Royalty didn’t have the G4.I was told the decks will interchange , I hope so anyway.
Decided to try them and ordered 2 of the Apache tanks while they were on sale.

I love mine. It’s not a clone and I got it from Fasttech.
The deck is larger than the Aromamizer. It has juice flow control and I have no problems filling it without leaks. I open the juice flow. Turn it upside down, close juice flow. Flip it upright and fill it via lovely SMOK top fill. I have used the pre-installed Clapton, and I installed a second coil of my own with no problems. No leaking, no shorts - no problems whatsoever. Flavor is perfect. Size is great 24mm. I’m even vaping banana mixes in it - something I’ve never liked much in the past. Bananna, glazed donut, maple - yum. I tested it with the same juice as an Armzr. Flavor is equal. A+. I run mine at 24 watts on my new HiCigar VT75 that is pretty and red. As for my comments on it… ah battery door sucks and it’s difficult to make good battery contact. Also this Mod is too large to be a single 18650 mod. I don’t use the Evolve software. I had a bad experience with that, and if the mod turns on and works… that’s all i’m concerned about for now. I have other things to spend my time on. I wish, wish, wish someone would just download and upload some good settings on it for me and also on my 200 watt DNA HCigar mod. But… oh well. It works fine and gives me a good ramp up. That’s all I really want from it.

I’m sooo sad some people had a bad experience with the ???clone SMOK tanks. You GET what you pay for. Come on guys! Buy the real thing and give the true maker the profits instead of the faker.
I would TRUELY advise that the Authentic SmokTech SMOK TF-RDTA
is a tank you SHOULD Get for sure! I love it MORE THAN my Aromamizers, and you guys know I love my Aromamizers!
