Hey, first post on here I was hoping someone can give a bit of advice. I’ve mixed one of the members Vimto recipes but it is a bit harsh, is that due to literally shake and vape, should I let it steep a bit? Is there something I can add to smooth the flavour at all?
I would recommend giving it at least a couple days to settle before you consider adding anything or making any changes.
Some flavours can be harsh off the shake, sometimes things can be harsh when combined with other things etc, harshness can be caused by a number of things, nicotine usually being the first thing people gravitate toward when they hear "harsh:.
Maybe share the recipe too & if anyone else has tried the recipe they may be able to offer some proper help?
Also, welcome.

Thank you so much for the reply very helpful.
The nicotine is the same I’ve always used so not sure it will be that. Maybe the Super Sweet (CAP)?

I’m trying to replicate Raspberry Vimto Slush by ELFC (it doesn’t have cooling, not sure why they cool it a slush) as they have stopped it due to the new rules coming in ![]()
Must add I’m making it 70/30 if that makes a difference
I’m thinking you should give it a couple weeks steep. None of those flavors should be too sharp with a decent steep.
If you look at the notes for TPA Black Currant and go straight to the bottom and look at the notes left by The_Bearded_Dan, he says by day 12 that the throat hit is far more moderate compared to that of 5 days, so yeah a good steep “should” fix your problem. I didn’t look at notes for the other flavours but I suppose that would be my advice, the flavour notes can be really useful sometimes for info like that and what to expect during steeping, not all of the flavours have useful notes though but most of the popular and frequently used ones do.
@Chris_E as stated above, fresh mixed juice can be VERY harsh. 70v/30p can help, but steeping is still most times required to let the flavors settle, and meld. If you’re REALLY in a jam, you can add some Marshmallow to take the edges off, and creams can def. help, BUT, depends on your recipe profile as to whether or not you want those profiles in there. Small amounts of Marshmallow can help, and you won’t taste it in the final mix if used correctly.

Thank you everyone
I haven’t used Raspberry Sweet by TPA but their standard Raspberry flavour definitely likes a few days/a week to breathe and settle in. I open the bottle each day, squeeze it enough times that it should have fresh air in the bottle, then close and shake. It needs minimum 2 days before those really harsh volatiles are gone.
