SOS: Ex MOD user using POD

Friends, I hope you are all doing well.

Here we go: I smoked for 20 years. In 2016, I discovered vaping. So, I started reading a lot about the basics, then I delved deeper into the subject and made my own recipes. They were all delicious, for my personal taste.
I was very happy with my RDA and RTA recipes. The base was always cream (Vanila Bean Ice Cream with another cream). Over time, I stopped vaping (and I never smoked cigarettes again).

So, last year, I started vaping again, but with a pod. Since I already knew how to mix my liquids for the mod, I decided to make the same recipes for the pod and… How sad! Banana recipe (Cream Banana, Vanilla and EM base): Zero flavor. Amazing strawberry in the RDA (base mentioned above)? Zero flavor! I’m almost giving up, but first, I wanted to know if someone can help me. I would like to know if I can save these recipes. Since I was stupid and very confident, I made a liter of the recipe, right away. Each recipe has about 15% flavor. Could someone help me, suggesting flavors that stand out and can add flavor to the recipes? Thanks for reading my message.

PS: I use Xros3 and 0.6 disposable coils.

With your old recipes start increasing your flavors by 2/2.5%. You might try it at a 50/50 PG VG ratio. Mix 10/15 ml testers till your happy.

I’m on a 50/50, 30mg. In the strawberry recipe, I tried increasing the Strawberry Ripe by 2%. It didn’t turn out well. I think the creams muted the fruits. The Banana Cream, which has always been very good and strong in the RDA/RTA, simply doesn’t appear in the pod (4%). I confess that I’m afraid to add more banana, because in the mod, when I increased the percentage, the taste was terrible. I’m thinking about adding some strong red fruit to the strawberry recipes. I don’t know, but maybe it will help. Thank you very much for your message.

I don’t use pods but have read many times fruits do much better without the heavy creams and higher % usage of the fruits. If you want a cream try a plain sweet cream low to take the edge off the fruits. Seems the simpler the mix the better, just 2 or 3 flavors ideally.

Thanks, Letitia. Yes, my cream base muted all the juice. I would like to try to save these liquids, since I was safe and foolish enough to mix a liter at once. I am thinking of using some berries. If you could give me some specific flavoring advice, I would appreciate it.

Can you list your recipe? If you increase the recipe equally between all your flavors not just one. Try to stick with 5 flavors at the most. Most low power pods won’t separate flavors. Use the ELR recipe side and increase the percentage evenly. It will be in the pull down menu. Top right. 24% + flavor won’t be unusual.

I use an Xros Mini 3 with 0.6ohm coils.

I mix at 50/50. Mixes don’t work well fresh in a pod, test half a tank and then leave them at least 1 week, test half a tank again, I mixed 5 100ml bottles today and tested them this way, only one was really vapable this early and it was an all fruit mix with Koolada, see below

Strawberry Breeze

Flavours%
Golden Pineapple - Capella3.60
Koolada 10 Pg - The Flavor Apprentice0.90
Super Sweet - Capella0.80
Sweet Strawberry - Capella4.50

Flavor total: 9.8%

Thanks, Rcleven!

My strawberry recipe:

4% Strawberry ripe
4% sweet strawberry
3% vanilla bean ice cream
2% sweet cream
1% EM

All my recipes follow this base pattern, followed by fruits and EM.

Since I already use 50/50, I thought about using a strong flavor that doesn’t raise the PG too much. I’m afraid of leakage. Maybe a strong berry? What do you say?

Hi Grubby! Thank you so much for your message and help. I let them sit in the dark, as I used to do, for two weeks. Mine didn’t turn out well, even after they ripened. The pod can’t capture the base layers and, to make matters worse, they disappear with the fruit. Thanks again for your help! PS: This recipe you posted looks good! Are you thinking of adding a little more pineapple or is it enough?

Raspberry would help boost the strawberry. Honestly I don’t believe just adding more fruit will help covering the creams. In this situation I would probably mix another quarter liter of base to tone down the creams and boost the strawberry % plus add a raspberry to give the sb a pop. If you mix the quarter liter just use less pg to help keep the ratios you prefer in balance.

Atm I’m not sure, Golden Pineapple is quite a strong flavour. I’ll let it sit for 5 days - 1 week and try it again, it seems potent enough as is but things can change very quickly

I think I will do this. I wanted to save money, since I spent a lot on liquids, but it is better to spend a little more and not lose everything. Thank you again for your message and attention.

The best advice I received and mentioned is to keep the mixes simple and more singular.

For me that means no crazy cream and fruit mixes. I use cream to shave the edges off harshness or to spread the pallet…but not to give me a cream mix.

That means mixes like…
Strawberry green fa 1% (I’m sensitive to this flavor. So it’s more like 4 drops per 15ml)
27 fish cap 2-3%
2 drops spearmint flv per 15ml 0.3-0.4 grams
3 drops cream fresh fa
Supersweet to taste (3-4 drops for me)

I appreciate your comment and advice. I have decided to redo many of the recipes with simple fruits. I will add 100% VG (20mg nic) 20% diluted to the ready recipes and add simple flavors. I will also make a new batch, only with simple flavors. I was caught off guard because I was used to the mods in the past. I learned my lesson. I hope it works out. I will come back to say and also to contribute to the community. It is difficult to have to accept that it is necessary to relearn everything you knew, but it is also a form of resilience. Thanks again.

@TP100, just saw your comment on Sinnamon Cookie Kustard so i will reply here as you will receive the feedback much quicker. While i havent vaped it in a pod it was developed for an early and very basic tank, Kanger Evod’s.

It might work as the hardware isnt all that dissimilar. Try a really small batch and tweak if needed is the best advice ive got for ya.

Good luck to you!

Em is gonna mute strawberry most of the time. Em is very good for creams but not great with strawberry.

Maybe its possible you are strawberry blind now? I could taste strawberry at one time but cant now
