Question for you all…
I know I have to steep. I know I have to shake. I also know I have to be patient and wait.
Is removing the caps to ‘breathe’ necessary? Seems counter productive to me.

Dont breathe your liquid , not even is the flavors are alcohol based.
@Oldguynew2diy like @fidalgo_vapes said, the only time you MIGHT vent your bottles, would be to off-gass the alcohol, but even than, maybe ONLY.
The problem with venting, or removing the caps, is you LOOSE flavor every time you do it.
Was kind of my thinking. I figured the alcohol would eventually absorb more into the liquid.
Thanks. Seemed to be an added step not needed.
Remember that aerating a liquid disperses the volatile components that are almost always an integral part of the final aroma, so it is a practice that should be observed only in specific cases that have already been more than correctly indicated to you; precisely for this reason I personally prefer to mix the liquids in bottles with a limited capacity, I never go beyond 30ml, in order to preserve, even and above all during use, all the aromatic components of the mix intact… a little personal obsession of mine, but who isn’t a little crazy in this world!
Although it has been said always like to support answers given.
In the last (golly 15 years?) number of years I havnt need to vent/offgas/leave a lid off of a mix. The extra detail maybe missing is that I have been fortunate to use popular brands like Fa, Flv, tpa, Cap and so on…which have some intent or all intent to be used in vaping and easy to use in the diy community.
That said…even if you have a flavor that may seem heavy on the alcohol base if you allow the mix to sit and do its own thing (with the lid on) for weeks most of the concerns/feeling to offgas should be gone.
That said…there are some flavorings…that maybe in the mixing process may be ok/beneficial to offgas abit…however…it isn’t needed if you let age steeping do its thing. If off gassing is needed it may be time to switch to one of the mentioned flavor houses. (I know it should be a new paragraph) and for the few that I have are from flavor houses that are not widely used and purchased solely to chase a profile or came highly recommended…I I won’t mention the brands….and are not listed above.
Thanks for the info. Those are basically the brands i have bought so far. Only time the top comes off is for a sniff test.
