Storage of commercial juice in soft plastic query

Hi All
Am hoping someone might be knowledgeable with regards to plastic bottles!!
My favorite commercial liquid ( IVG Vanilla Custard Biscuit!!) Used to come in the hard type plastic bottle with those impossible to open cone shaped grooved lids. I have had quite a stash as stockpiled when heard about possible flavour bans etc! All my stash have only been purchased during the last 8 months and are a couple of years away from expiry dates. All stored in a dark cool cupboard.
Anyway they changed the packaging to a new soft easy to squeeze plastic and a flat shaped lid. Much easier to use but the flavour is totally different! Its not so sweet and got a nasty off taste. This isn’t a bad batch as I’ve tried numerous bottles with different batch codes and expiry dates, tried in different vape kits and new and used pods. For reference these are 10mg nic salts 50/50. I’ve contacted ivg to enquire if the recipe was changed and they’ve contacted me back confirming nothing recipe wise was changed just the type of plastics used They did say maybe the plastic affects the flavour when steeped for a long duration etc and am assuming this is the case, but the ones only made 4 months ago have the same off taste. Not vapers tongue as a friend who also rotates with this flavour has noticed the same. And this change of flavour is only with the new plastic
Is this possible that the type of plastic bottle can totally alter the flavour? Is it worth for future reference decanting into glass bottles for storage for several months? Interestingly the shortfills with same expiry date taste lovely like the original flavour! Anyone got any ideas? I’m currently getting down them by mixing with the shortfills in the pod/tank.
Many thanks.

Soft Plastic like LDPE isnt the best in my opinion . The soft palstic allows seeping into the bottle and the flavor get stuck in the plastic , The best plastic to use is PET (the harder of the 2) I use LDPE for my VG and PG and that where i draw the line. I can definitely see flavor changes with the softer plastic

@fidalgo_vapes thanks for your advice and reply. Obviously its too late now for the ones I’ve got, but in future shall I decant any commercial juice bought into either pet hard plastic bottles or glass? Am aware then though that each bottle has been opened and exposed to air ( would it make a difference if only opened to then decant into something else for storage?!). Am struggling making diy because of my hands limiting me now and am using more commercial juices and having family top my pods up for me! Still enjoying reading the forum daily and wishing I was mixing more. Oh yes, if I decanted into glass bottles do you then need a proper seal machine to seal the bottles properly? Never had to do this before.

I only use plastic for unflavored bases,
Nicotine and made e-liquid always in glass for me

some flavors are known to react with certain plastics thats my guess what happened

no you don’t need some kind of machine to seal glass dropper bottles

@warkwarth thanks so much. I’ve learnt the hard way ! I stocked up and had over a 100 bottles and over 90 are in the soft plastic. Managed to sell 40 today!! Ive got quite an acute sense of taste and really notice the difference. Could someone post a link as to the best option glass bottles? Do u then decant from there into tank/pod with a syringe cos obviously glass doesn’t squeeze! Am gutted that e liquid companies haven’t considered this with regards to using the softer plastic especially as people plan to stockpile longterm with the huge tax hike coming next year. I never knew how the plastic alters the taste so much. Element e liquids use the PET rock hard plastic and the vanilla by that brand taste sublime! Thanks. Sorry this is about commercial liquids and not diy! Sorry.

Also sorry about this, would the soft plastics affect the flavour instantly. In other words, if you decanted it as soon as you purchased them, would that already be too late as am assuming companies steep the liquids before they are sent to suppliers etc for general public to buy?. Or generally longterm in the soft plastic then degrades the flavour? This is a learning curve!

As said above plastic will leech chemicals into any liquid inside and is why bottled water has a use by date.
You describe the liquid only being sat in the bottle for such a relatively short period of time making me think theres probably something else at play here.

Heat or prolonged sunlight would taint the liquid and make it taste iffy.

Could be one of the ingredients has turned such as the nicotine and the manufacturer hasnt noticed.

Maybe the bottle hasnt been processed sufficiently to be clean enough to accept the liquid.

Just my opinion.

@Display-Name yeah I’ve only bought these going back since last September time and I’ve stored them in shoe boxes inside a cupboard and when its sunny even closed that room’s curtains so from my storage they’ve not been in any hot or bright environment. The boxes of 10 bottles from one supplier taste worse than from another supplier even though its the same liquid and batch numbers. The flavour difference is huge between these current bottles and the older hard plastic bottles. Just desperate to figure out in future how to avoid this problem, had wondered about keeping back empty shortfills bottles and then decanting into them cos the flavour from those bottles was lovely! Thanks for the input.

I have always ordered from this site and been very satisfied. Order the bottles with the polycone lids for storage and order a few single sell dropper lids for in use bottles. They rinse easily and should last for years. There are other sites just as good maybe with better prices. I always get the amber to help keep the nic from oxidizing.

@Letitia thanks ever so much. Am definitely going to be ordering some glass bottles and dropper things. Am in the UK so will need to find something similar and with the amber colour. Got to get through 600ml now of liquids which are definitely altered flavour!! My biggest lesson learned!! Many thanks
