I’m trying to figure out what these companies are using for sweeteners. The makers of d’ohnuts and treats using something different then surculose or em and I’m having issues getting that sweetness right. I haven’t tried stevia yet, that’s one my list for sure. What other sweeteners are available. It might just be because I’m using tfa surculose, is cap super sweet any different?
Stevia is nasty!!
When I first started mixing I used Stevia and its real sweet dont use much, and it has a bad after taste.
A lot of people use marshmallow as a sweetener.
Super sweet is also sucralose. It’s definitely one of the most common sweeteners, but most of us around here use marshmallow. I also use caramel or brown sugar depending on the recipe.
Marshmallow FTW
yes… stevia… uhg. I tried it too, long ago and hate the aftertaste of it.
Any marshmallow? I have tfa toasted and normal and fa marshmallow too.
If you’re just going for sweet, I’d use the plain marshmallow. I’ve used TPA and FA and they’ve both worked well.
I just started using ethyl maltol crystals for mixing. Its alright, i believe thats what mashmellow is made with. Has a distinct flavour, twelve monkeys use alot of it if you tried that for reference. disolved 1/4 tblspn in 10ml of pg, used about 4 drops per 10ml of juice. looking for somthing better myself.
Ethyl maltol is known to mute flavors over time. It’s okay if used for shake and vape recipes, but not so great if you have anything that has to steep for awhile. Marshmallow is not EM, but cotton candy is. If you are looking for a new sweetener I would go with marshmallow, brown sugar, caramel, or the like rather than cotton candy or EM.
yes my mistake. Ya i found it kind of lessened the flavour of a peach i used it in. Know any sugary sweet tasting crystal products?
Unfortunately, no. I think EM is the only one that we typically use that comes in crystal form. Some have talked about using stevia, but I believe they use the liquid form. I haven’t really found a need for sweeteners in general. I use the ones I listed as well as some like Honey (FA), Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (TPA), and some I’m probably forgetting. For the most part, those are sweet enough for my tastes.
cool thanks alot
I’m gonna go by trader joes and get some stevia crystals
I’m going to throw this out there and someone can tell me I’m crazy… BUT once upon a time they were talking about using insulin in breathing treatments for kids (it never came to fruition) but the thought was that insulin could cross well in an inhaled treatment. That being said sugars in vape why wouldn’t that cross over in the lungs for diabetics too? Maybe something to at least ponder about?
As far as I know, real sugar isn’t used in any kind of e-liquid. Sucralose (splenda) and stevia are the only two ‘sugar subs’ that I’ve heard of being used. Sugar would bake on coils and cause some real issues. I can’t imagine vaping burnt sugar, either. Yuck. LoL.
I swear this vape I bought yesterday was full of it LOL (I’m waiting on my dang custard to steep)
