@Oldguynew2diy YES, your NIC should always be in the freezer. Well, maybe that’s my OCD talking, but colder, darker, air free will keep your NIC as fresh as you can. The name of the game is stopping (slowing) Oxidation. Light, Heat, Air all speed it up, so anything you can do to eliminate any or all of them, the better.
